    Official Dell u2413 Thread

I found another problem. When I connect the HDMI, the text looks really bad as if it has been over sharpened. I already adjusted the sharpness down to 0 but the text still look bad. Edit: found the issue. When connected via HDMI, the Mac think it is some sort of TV and output in the Ypbpr...

    Official Dell u2413 Thread

I recently acquired a new U2413 but I am having trouble with its color. I'm using it with a MacBook Pro, connected via displayport. Out the the box, I notice the monitor is very bright and there is significant difference in Red between my MBP LCD and the monitor's Standard Mode. I changed it to...

Windows 10 Insider Preview - is it too late to register?

You are right about preview builds will no longer activate. http://news.softpedia.com/news/why-windows-10-build-10525-can-t-be-activated-on-some-pcs-489817.shtml But I don't think existing preview builds are converted to retail. They still remain in the insider preview program and will have...

Windows 10 Insider Preview - is it too late to register?

I have Windows 10 Insider Preview installed and activated on a (Vista) laptop. But the laptop is becoming unstable and I found an identical replacement. I tried installing the Insider Preview from scratch again but this time it does not activate. I am not too surprised. But I see that the...

    Question about caseless SSD

I don't know what is the right term for them. They have no case but appears to use mSATA interface with power. Here is an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Lenovo-X230-T530-32GB-MSATA-SSD-Samsung-MZ-MPC0320-0L1-FRU-45N8171-/181516710449?pt=US_Solid_State_Drives&hash=item2a433d3231 Can...

The 3 and 5 series slimline case has a useless drive bay for HP Pocket Media Drive. Removing it will give room for SSD. You should make sure you have spare SATA port and power though. I second that SSD isn't very useful for an HTPC. I had one. But for gaming, I think it would be useful.

OCZ SSDs - Why are they so bad?

Just want to share my experience with RMA. I shipped my dead OCZ Vertex 2 120GB ($3 shipping) and got back a refurbished Vertex 3 128GB. (Can't really take advantage of the added speed as my board is SATA II). They ship about 1 day after receiving my drive via UPS Ground. Pretty good experience...

    Motherboard w/o AHCI + SSD

My SSD (OCZ Vertex 2) failed on me. I used it for just 1.5 years and it is my OS drive. My motherboard does not support AHCI, I wonder if it would cause SSD to fail early? If I find a replacement, is there a way to make it last longer? (Motherboard is MSI G41TM-E43...

OCZ SSDs - Why are they so bad?

My OCZ Vertex 2 died on me last week. The drive disappeared from BIOS and I tried another PC, another SATA cable with no difference. Pretty sure it is the drive. I am about to start the RMA process and then I see your post. On what ground do they refuse your warranty claim?

FWIW, I think this $69.99 board will fit in the s3000 cases: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157228 and turn it into an HTPC case. All you need is a cheap HP power adapter. It is not the same as the ASRock E350M1 that I used. But I guess it is similar. The stock PSU is...

BFG GeForce 210 loud fan noise

I already tried Precision X and there is no option to change fan speed. So I think the resistor is the way to go. But I can't seem to find the power of the fan. Any ideas what is the typical amperage of a small GPU fan? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143208

BFG GeForce 210 loud fan noise

This is a very interesting idea. I tried running the card w/o fan and the temp range is 70c to 100c, vs 60c to 70c with fan. I stopped testing after it reached 100c, which is just playing an H.264 video. So I think the temp can definitely go higher. So running without fan is out of the...

I have a BFG GeForce 210 video card that has very loud fan noise. I bought it new a few years ago and I hardly use it because it has a loud fan noise. Today, I took it out for an older PC. I think what you experienced is an HDMI handshake issue between your video card and your TV. You will have to try it out to know for sure. I don't use XBMC but I have replaced my slimline an AMD E-350 M/B and I don't have the issue you described. However, when I used a GeForce G210 card, I...

    Asus VG23AH: The 1st Semi-Glossy IPS Panel?

Thanks. I will bite. I will mostly use it with my PC with DVI port. A stand-alone Blu-ray player is a lot less hassle than replacing my DVD writer with a BR drive and install a bunch of software. But I also happened to have an Nvidia G210, (very basic, I know), that has HDMI port. Would I...

Have you tried swapping the HDD and Power LED? They should work the same. The Slimline uses dual-color PowerLED, meaning when reversing the polarity, the LED shows a different color. You can also try flipping the direction of the jumper.

Despite my choice of the E350, I am not a big fan of AMD. With equal performance, AMD processors always take up more power and generate more heat. Which translates to higher cooling needs. But then my focus is more on HTPC front. If you want to build a gaming PC, it would make sense to look into...

Come to think of it. I think the builds I saw did not use any optical drive. They are usually ultra SFF builds. So keep that in mind, especially when yours is a 160W PSU instead of 180W.

I have not come across such a cable. But then it is definitely possible if you found one. If I were you, I will find a dead P/S and cut its P4 cord or get a cheap Molex to P4 cable and then merge it with a SATA power splitter. That way I don't have to cut the stock P/S cables. There are many...

Actually, the one you linked does have a PCIe-x1 slot. If it was available at that price point a couple years back, I would go with it. The E-350 is very weak in the CPU department and it shows in delayed application launch time, etc. But it does have the advantage of low power consumption...

    CPU Headsink FAN becoming noisy

I doubt it. It uses the 4-pin Molex head. What I need is a fan that runs on the 4-pin CPU FAN jack from the M/B such that the M/B can control its speed. Thanks, nonetheless. I noticed a comment mentioned about Zalman Fan mate, I guess it is an option that I can consider too. But it is not as...
