6ms is very possible based on what we saw at CES. They can't measure it because TFTcentral probably doesn't have the new version of the Leo Bodnar input lag tester that does 4k. The original Leo Bodnar was 1080p only.

Looking for advice on comperable replacement for Dell U3011s

Their monitor division stopped innovating which is really sad because Dell were at the top of the game for a long time. Gaming at 4k is extremely GPU demanding but that's your only option to get higher than 1440p on verticle res. You obviously care about picture quality a lot, the new LG...

That's exactly what I was planning on doing. My C7 is at 40 OLED light, with BFI on ultra I suspect 100 will be required.

If you read the rest of the article they say the input lag should about 7ms with a 120hz input. What I'm searching for is the following: Windows 10 + 2000 series Nvidia card + 1440P @ 120hz or 4k @ 120hz with BFI enabled on High setting. What is the input lag in this configuration?

Dnice in AVS forum confirmed there are 3 settings for BFI: Low, medium and high. He said the high setting lowered brightness dramatically but that was almost definitely with a 60hz source. With a 120hz source like a PC the brightness reduction should be less drastic. Dnice also provided his...

151 is totally fine with me, I could go lower. The only time I really desperately need BFI is in FPS games: I can't use HDR anyway because of the increased input lag, can't use high graphics settings (increase input lag by nature of lower frames), etc. I'm playing COD Warzone with a mix of High...

I can't imagine BFI at 60hz either but I could be verrrry happy with 1440p 120hz 5MS input lag and BFI on the high setting I think. Regarding higher refresh rates, you'd need a gpu capable of those frames which as far as I know doesn't exist. Even 360fps is pretty much unattainable for most people.

The comments above about BFI+gsync aren't mine, feel free to follow up with the dude that posted them in the AVSforum thread. Your points against BFI regarding brightness are unfair and a tad dated, any monitor made in the last two years has ample brightness to spare with BFI enabled. These 400...

With how my 1080 Ti is aging in modern games I'll probably switch back to AMD. Before the 1080 Ti I had an R9 290, that thing got faster and faster every year! I hope big Navi is a beast. From Techpowerup performance analysis of COD MW: "We can clearly see that NVIDIA's Pascal generation of...

LOL you have no idea... This is last part in over 30 hours of windows and PC config guides where you create a custom ISO with Ntlite. I may still try this but the amount of work is f'ing crazy.

Nope, not according to the testing Chris (dude that makes video above) has done. DX12 renders everything to full screen borderless. Edit: I suspect because there is a lot of pressure to have overlays. There's a whole community of input lag fanatics that follow him and they spend 100s of hours...

Hate to burst your bubble here gents but all DX12 games render Full Screen Exclusive just like Borderless fullscreen so you get none of the FPS or input lag benefits that DX11 had. I hate it but unless Microsoft changes DX12 that's what your future looks like. If you're obsessed with ultra-low...

DLSS 2.0 sounds nice and all but I worry about input lag increases. COD Warzone is incredible and I'm planning to downscale in-game rendering to 75% from 4k to get higher FPS if I need to. The 55 inch models are hitting shelves soon so I hope to hear about the BFI ASAP. I hope Rtings gets one ASAP.

Review out on the asus vg279qm

It's a basic formula man, your face doesn't need to be 2 feet away. The optimal viewing distance for 48 inches is 40 inches away. All that really matters for competitive fps is input lag and refresh rate. Look at all the CS pros, they don't run gsync or BFI because it could ad input lag.

Isn't exclusive full-screen basically dead in modern games? What I mean is, DX12 doesn't really offer a true exclusive fullscreen output. It's basically giving you borderless windowed mode all the time, whether you like it or not...

If 200+ fps is your minimum requirement then gsync/freesync are completely useless and BFI is way more important.

It supports multiple resolutions, I'll be playing most competitive FPS at 1440P @ 120hz with low settings just like I do now. The CX48 has it all: 1. For competitive FPS: BFI 4k@120hz, BFI 1440P@120hz & BFI 1080P@120hz 2. For all other games: Gsync/Adaptive sync support 3. The lowest input...

I'd say no because of the low resolution but I know that is a positive for many folks. TFTCentral has the best reviews in the industry though and I agree, it's a hell of a display for pure FPS gaming. I would prefer an LG CX48 instead though but it's 3x more money and doesn't come out until late...

HDR Windows 10 is the biggest disappointment in the last few years. I hate the manual slider in the OS. If you configure MPC-HC exactly right it will automatically trigger HDR in videos without having to set the slider. Some games have HDR built into the game menu, others have HDR but you have...

If you're only using your oled to watch TV from 8+ feet away then I have no issues with high brightness. When sitting less than 5 feet away it's a whole different ball-game. Your eyes will likely fatigue very very quickly at max brightness on a 48 inch screen at 40 inch viewing distance.

Terrific post and I love your optimum viewing distance formula, it matches what I prefer exactly! Thank you! Wait for HDMI 2.1 TV or get Dell 34" now?

LG CX 48 all day. The C7 was a very good monitor, the CX fixes everything that bothers me. Wish I could get a 40 inch but I'll buy a 48.

It's just how the television pricing industry works and honestly, I love it! It's the same in Canada and I'm sure most other countries. Computer monitors rarely drop 40% in price less than 6 months after release but OLEDs usually do! At $1200 there isn't anything in the PC monitor market even...

What do you like better: BFI or Gsync/Freesync?

I'm intrigued, could one of you gents please explain how this works? Why is a low GPU load required in this scenario? I have a 1080ti so I don't think I can enable Scanline sync yet but I'm planning on buying an HDMI 2.1 video card and new CPU to go with the CX48.

The 48 will have identical brightness as all the other Oleds. They come out in massive sheets that are divided up.

What do you like better: BFI or Gsync/Freesync?

I'm with you 1000%, if I can hit the right frame rates I'll pick BFI every time over gsync. Edit: Provided you're using a monitor with imperceptible strobing (no flashing) and a bright enough display. My Samsung does both.

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

I started to research this and saw a thousand posts from gamers with gsync that wasn't working properly on specific games on various monitors, then I gave up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that compatibility issues are the biggest roadblock to GSYNC/VRR but that should get better thanks to...

What do you like better: BFI or Gsync/Freesync?

What do you like better: BFI or Gsync/Freesync? BFI or Black Frame Insertion: Otherwise known as strobing backlight, these improve motion performance while reducing brightness. Gsync/Freesync: These synchronize monitor refresh rate to frame rate to reduce tearing. Personally, for FPS games...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

The only realistic hope is that LG releases a 40 or 42 inch for 2021. It would be perfect IMHO but I'll settle for a 48. If the Cx 48 is only $999 then there really is no LCD I would even consider over $500. 1440p 120hz gaming on the C9 is already orgasmic.

Good point, I want to win always so for me HDR is useless in FPS games. BFI on the other hand improves motion performance without increasing input lag so you can have that with 120fps+ enabled and everything on low. Anyone remember playing BF4 in night-vision mode all the time just to see people...
