Anyone still running an X99 Broadwell-E system?

Yes it did. The ASRock X99/ITXac or whatever it was called only had two DIMM slots and came with a low profile 1U Xeon CPU heatsink and fan. To the OP's question, I skipped Broadwell-E entirely as it was lackluster to say the least. It was no better than the Haswell-E CPU's they replaced.

There have been other mods to swap the joy toys with other NPC models and they haven't done anything about it. There are also mods that add nipple piercings and all kinds of things.

    FE cards discontinued?

The cards were taken off NVIDIA's own store front because they couldn't stop bots from buying them and had tons of trouble with the checkout process. FE cards are now exclusive to Best Buy.

Where is this urgency for new GPUs coming from?

It is due to a combination of several factors. In some parts of the country, lockdowns are more draconian and people are at home more than ever. Plus, its also the winter time when people are often stuck at home due to the weather. As a result, they have more time to play computer games. Several...

I think the driving is, by default not amazing. This is for the simple fact that everything spins out too easily and it always feels like you are driving on ice. That being said, this can be fixed to a large degree by mods that alter the driving characteristics of the game. The cars still behave...

    Another Caselabs SMA8

I've got Thermaltake's copy of that very case. Caselabs was out of business by the time I got my Thermalfake. I've had it now for a few years and its been great having a case with that much room to work in. Although, with watercooling its heavy.

Stability tests for 10th gen 10900k/10850k?

All I did on mine was set the CPU Core/Cache Voltage to "Adaptive" and another menu will pop up allowing you to set limits. It will have a value for +/- signs (+ by default) and then you can set the adaptive voltage. The voltage should stay around this value. Your actual voltages could still go...

Stability tests for 10th gen 10900k/10850k?

Z490 motherboards like to overvolt CPU's. This is for MCE (Multicore enhancement) or the equivalent. Essentially, it's almost an automatic overclock on the board that runs these CPU's super aggressively. Nearly every motherboard maker does this. My Maximus XII Extreme tried to run my 10900K @...

Asus Maximus IV Extreme PCIe usage

Again, they aren't special slots. That motherboard uses what's known as a PLX chip to add additional PCIe lanes in a sense. It's not voodoo at all as this was not only a very common practice at the time, but it was well understood by many enthusiasts and reviewers at the time. The PEX 8747 PLX...

Again, I wouldn't expect 4.7GHz. You should also use an AVX offset if at least -2. As for the cooler failing, I'd need to know the idle and load temps. The BIOS doesn't fail in the way you are thinking. If it did, the system wouldn't boot at all. I'd also like to know if you are using four...

I still do not understand your post all that well, so let's hope I can answer your questions and provide clarity on this situation. Changing BIOS versions is not going to make a huge difference if any when it comes to overclocking. One thing you have to be aware of is that the result I...

    Running 2 graphics cards?

Well, at 1080P, its normally not an issue at all as the frame rates are usually so high as to not matter. At 4K, the difference is negligible even dropping to 8x PCIe 3.0. 4K being what I run and where I did all my testing.

What is the reason for the need to turn SLI off before going to a single GPU with the same GPU?

Oh yeah. If money wasn't an object, I'd have a second RTX 3090 in my machine just for aesthetic purposes. I'd probably have to be a multi-millionaire before I'd consider doing something like that for purely aesthetic reasons.

    Running 2 graphics cards?

It has been proven time and time again that there is no difference between running your GPU with x8 lanes vs. x16 lanes. I tested my RTX 3090 at PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 and PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 and found no difference in performance what so ever. You are fine with your RTX 3070.

What is the reason for the need to turn SLI off before going to a single GPU with the same GPU?

I'm not running multi-GPU anymore. After the 1080 Ti's barely ever worked in SLI I abandoned it when I went to the RTX 2080 Ti and stuck with a single card. Before that I was a fan of multi-GPU despite its limitations and issues.

Asus Maximus IV Extreme PCIe usage

They do not have to be video cards. I've run RAID controllers, network adapters and all manner of devices on older, shittier boards. If you've got specific cards that don't behave it's not the boards fault. (Most likely.)

Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077 - which Universe do you prefer from CD Projekt Red?

I couldn't agree more. The fact of the matter is, a game needs to grab you early on or it doesn't work. I tried Witcher I and II and I don't think I made it more than two or three hours in either. I skipped the third game as a result.

Asus Maximus IV Extreme PCIe usage

PCI-Express compliance generally means you can use any PCI-Express compatible expansion slot with any PCI-Express compatible device. So, the answer would be yes. Although, I don't know if there are enough PCIe lanes to do what you want. I haven't seen one of those in a very long time.

Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077 - which Universe do you prefer from CD Projekt Red?

I am totally the opposite of you. I prefer science fiction over fantasy settings by a mile. I prefer the first person perspective over third person by a long shot as well. That being said, the Mass Effect series is one of my all time favorite game series, and its third person. So, neither is...

Best cpu air cooler for 3950x no oc + video work?

Not being able to cool an overclocked Core i9 10980XE doesn't mean that its incapable of cooling a 3950X. I think people often fail to grasp just how much power a 10980XE can consume and what kind of heat they generate. At 4.7GHz, total system draw with an idle GPU was 617w. With a 3950X, it was...

Aorus Xtreme TRX40 completely dead after shutting down safely

Is there a clear CMOS button? You should try depressing that for about 8 seconds or so and then releasing. You can also try powering up the system with only one DIMM installed in the furthest slot from the CPU. In your case, the one towards the ATX power connector.

Not at all. The VRM's on that motherboard can handle it. Functionally, its almost identical to the X299 Prime Edition 30. Although the latter has an active fan embedded in the MOSFET cooler, so its a little better there. It's also much more expensive. His CPU cooler could potentially handle...
