I remember my late father using his finger when analyzing tv or amplifier boards. He would put a little saliva to his fingertip and then probe different connections on the board and observe what happens. By listening and looking, he could pinpoint usually the problem within a few seconds and...
If you're using Xfce, you're not using Gnome obviously. You might have to make your own custom theme in order to achieve this: http://www.fifi.org/doc/gnome-users-guide/html/gnome-users-guide/C/custom.html
The point is that the vast majority of people will be tricked into creating the account. Dishonest business practices have been the trademark of Microsoft since the beginning.
I just upgraded my car to latest Audi A4 (from my trusty old MB S500L 4-matic year model 2003 which surprisingly has more option extras than the Audi but no bluetooth. Hmm I wonder why :D ) and the BT implementation in that car works really well. Whenever I sit in the car, playback resumes like...
Yes it makes me wonder how two persons can get a different setup dialog. For me and many others I've done installs to, there is no obvious option to bypass the account option but if you choose to seemingly cancel the whole setup, then all of the sudden you get the option to create the local...
That would be good except this screen does not appear on all installs... On most installs the setup prompts to create a Microsoft account and it has _no_ option to cancel or choose an offline account. It has 'accept' and a red cross to close the dialog (implying that user would cancel the whole...
Microsoft developed the project Freta to scan linux servers for vulnerabilities. In order for you to use it, all you need to do is to upload your data to Microsofts servers. I kid you not.
Going 'that' route will open your eyes and slowly you'll start to realize you don't need Windows for most of your daily things. It can be used for some applications that have no multiplatform support but that's it. Virtualizing Windows has the added benefit of being able to experiment and/or use...
I'm sorry but I'm not buying it. No sandbox is going to push the CPU to any meaningful levels unless the CPU is some weak POS. If the laptop can't handle normal use, trash it.
There are multiple vulnerabilities around that enable breaking out of sandboxes. If you use Windows, you will never be safe on Internet. Even with the best antivirus ever. Antivirus makers are always a step behind the attackers and Windows is the number one attacked platform on the planet. It...
Any Windows installation should be considered as a 'throaway' install as it's most likely going to be infected sooner than later if you use it online. Sandboxes can be defeated and if you use the most targeted OS in the world (Windows, duh) then you'll run into some pretty nasty attacks inevitably.
Well, since 99% of Windows users are totally clueless about IT and know only the button where the thing goes 'bleep' and screen lights up, this is the intended way.
For 150 bucks the only speakers I can recommend are second hand JBL305's, Pioneer SP-BS22-LR or Micca PB42X. Even the last two hifi bookshelfs have the problem that they're not designed for near field listening. Practically no speaker is, outside of studio monitors so their spectral balance is...
1) What is this midrange hump you refer to in LP's? Any sources on that? :) I prefer large barn door size electrostatic panels for the exact reason that they provide a VERY accurate reproduction of sound. Sure bad recordings will sound just as bad as they are. But so do the good ones...
It's the other way around. Since studio monitors are used for producing the music and the musicians / master techinians tune the sound using them, you get exactly what they inteded the sound to sound like. Analytical and exact are the meaning of hi-fi. High Fidelity. If your gear alters the...
Do you have the correct ISO on the root of hd0 that's gpt format? If not, the boot hangs as it can't find the image you refer to. If you hold the ISO on the usb stick you need to modify the path to look similar to the Clonezilla one.
It works without a key only for a few days, then starts nagging for one. If you're comfortable with a nag text and black background, you never need a key.
You could have saved a lot by just getting a pair of Genelecs or other pro near field monitors. Hifi speakers are generally not designed for near field so their balance will be off when listened close.
IIRC Rufus creates a bootable image which is why it's not so good to use with linux ISO:s as it messes up things. It's also possible to make the image bootable when using dd but that requires changing a flag using command line...
The SSDs have a bank of unused and 'invisible' memory cells as overprovisioning which get used if a cell is detected faulty and has to be replaced. The overprovisioning option in the magician is just a chance to reserve even more cells for this purpose.
If you delete the recovery partition then...
