My 5800X ordered from Amazon early Nov 21 arrived yesterday, Nov 28. Pulled the 2700X out of an Asus Prime X570 P and installed the new chip. Civ VI Gathering Storm AI benchmark went from 66 sec per turn to 31 sec. Witcher 3 @ 4K with a 6800 went from sinking to 40 fps riding through the land...
I have the 6800 running a 4K CX48 over HDMI with 2 Dell 1600x900 monitors on the sides connected via DP. I didn't even have to set up a multi-monitor profile when I installed the Radeon driver - it detected the 3 monitors and arranged them as I wanted. I did have to dig through Windows...
6800XT looks really good with H2O cooling, over 2700MHz OC. Asus is upcharging $250 for the AIO, though. ☹️
Makes the 6900XT more tempting once you get to those prices.
AMD site only led to a "page does not exist" message. Newegg only showed a Gigabyte card that's OOS. Refreshing all 4 (2 6800XT and 2 6800) items on Amazon finally got me a 6800 for the price of a 6800XT. What a bargain!
Is a 1080Ti soft now? I'd say I'm [H]ard enough not to give AMD or nVidia my $$$ until they produce a card that's actually an upgrade at a price comparable to what I paid for my current card.
I'm going to try to get a 6800XT.
I want a 6900XT, but I'll probably go for a 6800XT. Those graphs make me feel better about "settling". I don't see $350 worth of performance over the 6800XT, but that's usually how it goes with the top card.
I'm more interested in the minimum FPS - we'll see how that goes with the reviews. I...
Three generations of cards is enough to establish a consumer perception that "Nvidia=faster". That's why I think AMD still needs to hit Nvidia on price this generation. Being a better value WITH better performance is going to be the quickest way to win back mind share. Then AMD can charge...
And supposedly there is an XTX version with higher performance.
With the 5700XT clocking around 2GHz, that's a 20% clock increase on top of the doubled compute units.
I will be very interested to see if the 5900X is 6x2 or 8+4. For binning purposes, 6x2 makes a lot of sense. In that case, I would prefer a full CCX 3800X to the 2X 6 core solution, since I don't do a lot of encoding.
