SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

I had the same issue with my build last night. Starting with that screw "fixed" it. The price of a hand-built case, I guess.

You have to add a fan to it. The Noctua NFA9 or Thermalright TY100 are good picks.

I was using a Dynatron T318. Until Dan's cooler is available, it's basically the best option around.

The >140 watt CPUs might be hard to manage, but we can cool 140 watt CPUs in the Dan A4 now. V2 should be even better at it, because you can use the Asetek 545LC. This isn't directed at you specifically, but there's a lot of misinformation flying around about what's viable in the A4. I was...

    The Essential Phone is official:

I like the band support, small bezels, and 360 degree camera. The "Ocean Depths" color is beautiful too! The lack of 3.5mm jack kills it for me though.

    Biostar Racing X370-GTN ITX AM4

I just assembled my system and don't have any problems with a Samsung 960 Pro NVME drive. My Gskill TridentZ 3200 RAM won't run at 3200, even though it's on Biostar's QVL list. Hopefully that AGESA update comes soon!

    Biostar Racing X370-GTN ITX AM4

It's in stock again! Protip: set up a Nowinstock.net alert for the X370GTN to get a text or e-mail when the mobo is available. That's how I snagged mine.

There's no room for a top fan with Dan's cooler in the A4. If you have more room for another fan in another case, you have room for a lot of other coolers already.

It's 2.5 slots, so too thick to fit in the Dan A4 without hitting the side panel.

Can you turn the radiator around so the tubes don't have to stretch as much? Or does the end tank hit the motherboard tray?

Try opening up the case and aiming a fan at different parts of the motherboard. If the temperature doesn't change, it's more than likely a stuck or false sensor that you can safely ignore.

I think you want to re-watch the results section again. Linus is using synthetic tests on both the CPU and GPU to test and admits that ambient temps were high. In a gaming scenario and with a custom fan curve, he shows the Titan X is boosting to 1750 MHz. Compared to Techpowerup's Titan X...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

At the moment, I have my 5820K mildly overclocked to 4.0 GHz, at 1.13 V. Depending on the game, the CPU tops out at mid 70s to about 82C, but it's flirting with thermal throttling under stress tests or rendering. This is with a T318 and TY100 fan, not the linked 92mm AIO cooler from my earlier...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

That CPU block won't transfer heat to water well so I don't think it'll work for a CPU. I think you'd be better off getting an Asetek 545LC. That link also shows you what a CPU block baseplate should look like for good thermal transfer. If the radiator and a slim fan don't fit over the...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I have 4mm standoffs. A T318 with a Noctua 92x25mm fan fits but the fan is mashed up against the side of the case. It makes a horrible whining noise and I'm not sure if another 1 mm of clearance will be enough. As for your second idea, you'll have the same problem unless you cut down the T408...

It's limited by the small fan. Scythe recommends using it for 65w processors. It puts up respectable results on Frostytech's charts but the fan is loud.

    HTC Vive Owners Thread

The Chinese TPCast manual indicates the battery pack is 20000 mAh and they expect it to last about 4 hours. Imo, $250 is a bit much for the wireless adapter. Take that money and save it for a Gen 2 headset, that might have wireless built in.

Elite supports modifier keys, so you can have layers of controls. So one button on a gamepad or joystick can have 2-3 functions. The best key binds put the most used functions on your controller or HOTAS, so you don't need to fumble for a keyboard that often. Elite also supports using tools like...

Myopia, small room and HTC Vive

My eyes are -2.5, -2.7, so I play with glasses on. Things are just clearer. Unlike the Rift, my glasses fit comfortably into the Vive. Occasionally they'll get pulled off when I take the Vive off, but it's no big deal. You have options though - VR Lens EU makes the best corrective inserts or you...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I transplanted my 5820K X99 ITX system into the Dan A4 yesterday and a AXP100H Muscle cooler didn't fit, even with 4mm standoffs. It's a few millimeters too tall and when I bent the heatpipes to make it shorter, the blades of the underslung fan started rubbing on the retention screws. This is...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I don't doubt that you could fit at least one of them in the Dan A4 but they wouldn't be able to dissipate much heat. 60mm fans just don't move much air.
  29. O

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Any issues with the I/O plate with the smaller standoffs? If not, the AXP100H may be the cooler to get - it's available for all sockets, cools well, and is similar in design to Dan's heatsink.

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

ID Cooling also makes the IS-50, which has one more heatpipe, should be able to fit a thin 92mm or 120mm fan under the fins, and will comfortably be <48mm high with an underslung fan. The bad news is that availability is similar to the IS-40 (eBay or Aliexpress) and I can't find any reviews.

  34. O

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

True. Dondan, can you say if the Scythe fan was drawing through or blowing through the fins? Blow through could make performance more competitive with other coolers.
  35. O

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I bought one of those. A slim (12mm thick) 120mm fan fits underneath the fins and the whole package should fit in the A4, but I don't have the case yet or motherboard to know for sure. I think RAM clearance with an underslung fan might be an issue.

Frostytech has the Freezer 11 LP as having worse performance than the NH-L9i. Adding a thinner fan to the Freezer 11 won't help.

Nope, the Nexus 7000 Low R2 is less than 50 mm high without the fan and shroud, as you can see in Figure 5 on this page. It won't fit otherwise, as dondan mentions in this post. 48mm is the max cooler height, no ifs, ands, or buts.

dondan, I think the tempered glass version looks better. I'd also suggest using thumbscrews, like on the Lian Li PC08. The Phillips head screws look very cheap. I'm looking forward to more information about the heatsinks! Thanks!
