    LG 48CX

I'm sorry that people looking for a discount on the 48-inch model are disappointed. But I'm also incredibly pleased. This is a strong message to manufacturers that gamers want great quality OLED panels for desktop usage. In the long term it will benefit all of us, more 40-inch or similar high...

    LG 48CX

I've tried a few. Anno 1800 looks incredible, but isn't my kind of game. Total War: Three Kingdoms is excellent, but it does jutter a tiny bit on maximum ultra + VSYNC settings, which surprised me a bit. I suspect it has this problem on a lot of resolutions though. I've also been trying RPGs...

    LG 48CX

So, having owned the LG 48CX for a few months (and loving it), I finally managed to get hold of an MSI Gaming Trio X 3090 to pair with it. It's amazing - seriously amazing. This is everything you could want from a combination of high-end kit. Sure it will set you back over £3,000 but it's...

    LG 48CX

Has anyone else tried disabling auto-dimming like I have? I'm genuinely curious, as it was driving me crazy and I thought more people would want to do it. I haven't looked back since doing it!

    LG 48CX

I'm not sure I want a 10GB 3080. Sure it'd be fine for a couple of years, but then we might start seeing unoptimised PS5 ports start to hit PC. Will 10GB suddenly be a problem?

    LG 48CX

I was all set to buy a 3090 today. Then, there was no stock. What a surprise. Now, having read reviews, it seems like a minimal upgrade above a 3080. I'm worried about the 10GB on the 3080. So I don't really want either card - there are compromises either way (3080=memory, 3090=value for...

Based on prior Titan launches, what can we expect for the 3090?

I had some bookmarked links to shops selling 3090 AIB models. I saw one go up for sale (the MSI 3090 Trio) for £1,999. That's an insane £600 jump above the base FE, so I imagine there will be some heavy scalping initially, plus knowing customers who buy higher-end kit also want silence hence...

    LG 48CX

Thanks for posting this, and congratulations on your new card purchase! I suspect a lot of 30xx owners are in for a surprise when they realise their own HDMI cables aren't really ready for this beast of a TV/display.... me included. But I didn't spend a lot on them, it'll just be a case of...

    LG 48CX

It's ok, you won't regret it. You can always tuck your empty wallet under your head at night and whisper "sorry" to it.

    LG 48CX

Haha, I love your passion. I spent probably the equivalent of $1800 on SLI dual 1080 cards in 2016. The 3090 is my next upgrade, let's do it HARD! (But I won't be queing at Microcenter, I'll probably just be boring and wait for reviews of quiet fan AIB models so I can pick one that's nice...

    LG 48CX

Actually, I think 03.10.44 has solved the issue with screen shift - as soon as it updated, it automatically switched it off (properly). Subsequent to this, I've also turned off Quickstart+ whatever that is...

    LG 48CX

Has anyone found a solution to the screen shift bug in the settings yet? i.e. where you keep having to go into "All settings" -> "Picture" -> "OLED Screensaver" -> turn Screen Shift ON then OFF. ? I'm sure when I first got my monitor, I didn't have this problem... I'm convinced it only...

    LG 48CX

Does anyone know how to ensure "screen shift" is kept off? It needs to be kept off to keep text sharp. I reset my TV a couple of days ago, and since then every time it restarts it shows "screen shift" as off, but text is blurry. So I need to keep going into the menu to turn it on & off again.

    LG 48CX

I've managed to disable ASBL on my LG 48 CX, it's the same procedure as described on the avsforums as for previous LG models. I'm only posting this for information for those that want to do it, and I want to emphasise you should understand the risks before doing anything. I would not recommend...
  15. C

    LG 48CX

Well, despite all your advice - I'm going to try disabling the ASBL. I'm somewhat aware of the risks, and realise this might cause problems in the long term, but I'm willing to be a victim of the cause of trying to disable it. I've ordered the MKJ39170828 remote, as mentioned on forums for the...

    LG 48CX

So has anyone attempted to, or successfully managed to, turn off the ABL (automatic brightness limiter)? I'd like to try it but equally I don't want to waste money or destroy my lovely TV :)

    LG 48CX

I did it myself, I am quite big (6 foot 2) but not that strong. I handled it fairly well, if you're smaller you might want to consider 2 people.

    LG 48CX

If you really want to show off what this screen can do, Detroit: Become Human. It's simply staggering in quality. I also think it performs amazingly well at 4K on cards, I played on a single 1080 (non-TI) and it was smooth and beautiful.
  19. C

    LG 48CX

It's true, it's not the same quality-wise, but I do keep a 27" on the side on portrait (it fits perfectly, width-to-height wise) and I like having somewhere to keep emails/web/video/music players etc. so I can flip windows from one screen away from games etc.

    LG 48CX

I'm interested in trying this. ABSL isn't "super annoying" but I would appreciate not having it. The cheapest option appears to be Ebay, for the MKJ39170828 remote for £6. However, having Google-d this I can't find definitive success cases of attempting it with the CX. Should I try it?

    LG 48CX

I feel bad for you, either something is wrong with your panel or your PC config is messed up. Either way I would try to factory reset the TV and on PC reinstall drivers with "clean" settings etc., to try and get it working. If all fails, it might be a faulty panel. Also try a different HDMI...

    LG 48CX

I think your settings are wrong. I can't believe you're noticing lag and stutter, that doesn't make sense.. it's silky smooth here. When I unboxed it, I had similar. You need to have the TV on picture mode: "Game Mode", and turn "Just Scan: On". Those are the basics, you can tune it from...

    LG 48CX

Does changing the input type actually do anything? i.e. in Home -> Home Settings (cog icon) -> HDMI port -> PC input I haven't seen anything new in my PC settings. I have a GTX 1080 card, so I'm not sure if I can enable G-sync over HDMI, even at 60Hz? Unless I'm missing something.

    LG 48CX

Good list, this. I had some doubts about Rtings recommended settings, especially using "isf Expert(Dark Room)" - but having tried it tonight for TV viewing, it presents a much warmer picture, less stunning but also less of the gare and "cool" blue effect you get on the Standard mode. They're...

    LG 48CX

Thanks both - I suspected as much, it's not entirely clear when trying to research this yourself. Fortunately, the 48 CX is everything I want in a display for now. When I can enable G-Sync later this year, it will be even better. I will feedback soon on my opinions on HDR on this, once I have...

    LG 48CX

Tonight I've decided to play with the HDR settings, and try and understand how G-Sync will work. I've managed to: 1. In the display adapter, set the display to 60Hz (if not, the following doesn't work in 120Hz for me) 2. In Windows 10, set the display settings to HDR 3. On the TV, go into the...

    LG 48CX

It works fine for work & document editing/browsing. I am using non-HDR mode, game picture mode, 120Hz, and using Powertoys FancyZones to layout documents. Very clear text. I can't recommend Powertoys enough, if you use a large screen. Makes window layouts so easy and quick.

    LG 48CX

I've been playing Detroit: Become Human on this screen today. 4K resolution on a 1080 card and it's very smooth and looks absolutely fantastic! Definitely one of the best optimised games on PC right now.

Good luck to those ordering it! It's a fantastic monitor (and TV), no hesitation. I upgraded from a 40" Philips BDM4065UC. I'll repost my thoughts here that I posted elsewhere: Sadly I don't think I can test VRR yet, my graphics card is a 1080 so I don't think it's supported. Plus I...

    LG 48CX

Well, I've gone ahead and ordered one of these bad boys. It'll be replacing a Philips BDM4065UC, so a bit of a quality and size upgrade. I'll be mounting it on a Fitueyes desk stand so I can adjust the height up a bit. For a large screen, I highly recommend using Windows PowerToys and...

Another question for LG 48CX owners... are you using a custom mount on a desk - for height, swivel or aspect ratio adjustment? If so, what model are you using?

Thanks for the link, this has suddenly made this monitor/TV a possibility for my setup.

That page shows the 48CX under the "European 2020 LG OLED CX series" only? Not sure if that means it's only an EEA model, that would be a shame if it is.

    Samsung 2015 Monitor Killer ---> LG GX / CX 2020 G-sync Monitor / TV - Thoughts?

Weight and desk arm mounting is a concern for me, the text rendering too. But otherwise the new LGs looks promising.

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Ugh, these reports of failing backlights just outside of warranty period are starting to worry me a bit. I've noticed a definite shimmer at the top of the screen when I turn the monitor on, which disappears after an hour or so. Anyway, I think I'll need a new screen soon, but nothing currently...

Asus ROG Swift PG43UQ with 43.4″ VA Panel, 4K Resolution and 144Hz Using DSC

I wanted to make a separate thread for this monitor (the earlier edition was the XG438Q model. Or XG438). I think many people are looking for a 40-43inch PC monitor, and this is the 2020 offering from Asus this year. This ticks a lot of boxes for me in the spec - but needs reviews before I...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Please let us know how you get on. I don't have serious issues with my screen, like I said it's a minor flicker when I first turn it on then it's fine. But I'm interested to know how they'll respond outside of the warranty period. To be honest, I'm more interested in upgrading the screen but...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Bought my monitor in 2015, and it's still going well, but I have noticed it is slightly darker at the top - perhaps in the top 1/8th of the screen? Also, it flickers faintly in that same area when it comes out of sleep mode, but that goes away after around 5 minutes. It's not enough to make me...
