There's several to choose from with 2500k and z68. You can try the link below or google 'microcenter ad', find the ad on microcenter site (1st result), and go to page 27.

It might only be the 2 motherboards. The guy helping me was kind of scatter brained it seemed. I thought he said any z68, but after looking at microcenter's ad, it does appear only the GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 and P8Z68-V LX may bundle with the 2600K. Sorry for adding to the confusion.
I'm pretty sure it will bundle with any z68 motherboard. I had the guy that helped me check a few before deciding to go with the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3I for $95A/R+tax. I was not going to get an i7 because of price, but their price of a i7 SB made me decide to not wait 2 or 3 weeks for a...
I'm doing this now, though I'm guessing it isn't the cause of my problems. After it's done, I'll probably just re-install WHS and see if I continue to have any problems.
BTW, how long should badblocks take? I'm running it -nvs and based on the last 24 hrs., it'll be running for 7 days...
I also did not think a pending bad sector could cause this and I'm still not convinced. The main thing that is making me think it is the HDD is that it will not finish a full sector scan and restarts at some point every time I try. It says the sector scan of the 'bad' HDD will take like 30 hrs...
Thanks. I don't now much about SprinRite, but there's no data that I need to recover. I just want my home server to stop randomly restarting and sometimes having trouble connecting to the network (ie it's on, but does not show up via connector on another machine). Since it's headless, I do...
I have a headless WHS v1 with two 1.5 TB Western Digital Green drives. One drive (which has the system partition) shows a pending bad sector via Home Server Smart add-in. The server has been experiencing 'unexpected system shutdowns' in the event viewer. There is a Event ID 1003 Category...
I finally replaced my old CRT with a LG 227WTG today. Since I have never owned a LCD monitor, I was wondering how bad the backlight bleeding is on the monitor I have (ie is it acceptable and can it be expected from another LG227?). I can notice it if I have a darker wallpaper and things like...
From what I've read, people think digital versus is the exception not the rule on input lag for the LG227WTG. You can read more about it in this thread at anandtech. There's quite a bit of discussion about it (search for it though, or you'll be reading awhile ;)).
Well, since he's 65 words over the word limit, I'd say he's disqualified :p. I'm more curious whether it's still happening since it's been 3 weeks since the initial post (though no 'deadline' was given, so who knows).
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to test one of the new BenQ Full HD LCD's. The 1920x1080 resolution should be wonderful monitor for movies, as well as everyday computing tasks. I am an avid FPS gamer and am excited to see how these new monitors handle todays fast-paced games. The...
All you do in vista is click start, right click on Documents, choose properties, and go to the move tab. Unlike XP, I had to do the same for the Music and Pictures folders (maybe because the folders were not named Music and Pictures). I had to use the "BS" folders because some games on Vista...
I've given up using sleep in Vista x64. When it 'wakes up', I put my password in and it goes to the Welcome screen and stays there. I guess it's good if I just want to watch the blue-green circle go round and round.
Is there a way to configure the Vista firewall to block all connections until the user allows them (via a popup like other commerical/free firewalls)? I only get a popup from the Vista firewall on some programs, but certainly not all.
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I will probably only be getting 1 game for now. Does TF2 has custom content or do you just play the same 6 maps? I'm probably leaning towards COD4 because of the huge multiplayer community (pretty much the opposite of UT3 :(). I think having more...
I want to get a new FPS game, mostly for the muliplayer aspect. I've been a UT fan, and that's pretty much all I've played since UT2003. I bought UT3, but it's pretty much DOA. While I like it, it's sometimes hard to find good games online. From just browsing some forums, COD4 and TF2 seem...
I have the same motherboard. Rotate the power connector 90 degrees and use one of the pins below - so it's installed like "|". If it doesn't light up, just reverse it (I can't remember which side should be up and am not at home to check). This worked for me, but makes the red HDD activity...
My 8-pin cable wasn't long enough to run through the hole in the top of the case, so I cut part of the fan grill behind the processor off and ran the cable through there since I wasn't using a 80x15mm fan. That gave me enough room to hook up the 8-pin cable before I screwed in the motherboard.
Games might adopt quadcore more readily. The current console all have >2 cores (well, maybe not wii) and lots of game companies developing games for xbox360/ps3 take advantage of the cores. UT3 is a prime example. It uses all 4 cores on a quadcore PC and was pretty much made for consoles :D...
Finally got my system put together. The case is great for running the cables behind the motherboard tray. It looks so much better being able to run all of the PSU cables to the back since my PSU isn't modular. The damn GeminII makes it a pain to get to the fan headers / 8 pin power connector...
I have a medium speed yate loon from jab-tech mounted with rubber sticks on the side panel and it is quiet at 8V. I think decoupling the fan from the panel with some sort of anti-vibration mounts helps, though I haven't tried mounting the fan with screws to compare.
I have just started overclocking my q6600 (upgraded from p4c 3.0 ghz, so it's been awhile :)) and had a question about stability testing. I am using Prime95 with all 4 cores loaded and the "blend" test. When I was testing 3.2 ghz (8x400), I was able to run prime and still browse the...
I like to change the default location because I like to click start and be able to use the icons listed there. It's faster than going to Computer -> D: -> Documents. The data in those folders is still there when you reformat the OS partition/drive, so that's not an issue. Another thing is the...
I have Vista Business x64 installed on my new build. I am using the HDD's from my old system (1-36 GB raptor, 2-200 GB IDE western digitals). Since I do not have much room on the raptor, I have always had My Documents reside on one of the 200 GB drives. In Vista, when I move the location of...
I had the same trouble getting the IDE connector and power molex plugged in while the drive was in the drive cage. I found that if I slid the drive out about a 1/2" (so it wasn't locked in), that I could connect the 4-pin molex and IDE connector and slide it back in. Most of the trouble for me...
Sure you can. I did the same thing to save money. I bought a $30 SATA DVD burner and used 2 IDE HDD's for storage along with a SATA raptor HDD for OS/programs I had.
bump, could someone at least tell me the answer to the bolded text in original post? I know logic probably says it's dead, but I've never jumped a PSU and have also never had one die on me. Thanks.
I was messing around with some old hardware and was attempting to hot flash a bios chip. I had the good bios chip in loose so it would be easy to pull when the machine was running. When I tried to power on the system, the fans turned on, but the system did not boot from the floppy or load a...
I like [H] for the unbiased, well written, and comprehensive reviews. The forums are also a good place for technology discussion and to find help with problems. I read the [H] site several times during the day.
