Here in the UK, 5090s of all models have been sitting in stock and available for over a month now. There was an FE drop Friday and it remained in stock all weekend. Refurbed cards are going for under £1800. Resellers can't shift them. It seems people and companies have finally gotten their...
Played for a few hours yesterday. It's a great remaster, beautifully done. Running well on my 5090 cranked at 4k.
After not having played Oblivion for probably 12 years, playing now has reinforced how much better this game is than Skyrim.
One thing I did notice is the voices sound crackly at...
Still fixed on Starfield. I picked it up at launch, thought it was decent enough despite it being a bit clunky and boring. Put it down after about a week.
I got my 5090 a few weeks back and thought I give it another go. They've fixed a lot of the transition and graphics issues over the past...
Precisely. We're all rending our cloths and consulting with augurs over MSRP. On the whole, MSRP doesn't mean diddly squat in this market. Marginal variance in MSRP e.g. $650 or $750 won't matter and street price will end up higher. Just how high, who knows. My guess is, at launch, demand...
Digging into those results vs the 5070ti, that puts 9070xt a hair above on raster, 15% slower on RT. Otherwise put, a 7900xtx with a 25% boost to RT.
AMDs going to price it in line with market, so around $850-900. Otherwise put, a $150 discount from 5070ti for 15% slower RT performance.
Stock and prices are stabilizing for the 5080 here in the UK with several resellers now selling AIB models close to MSRP/RRP. Funny, as just a day earlier people were buying the same model for £200-300 more -- they paid for their impatience.
Another week or two, and the 5080 will bottom out...
I have the day off today, then managing a big release this weekend where I'll have a lot of "hurry up and wait" time...
Question: what should I buy, Avowed or KCD2?
I played Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity and enjoyed both of those; I also really liked KCD1.
I can't believe things have gotten so people are looking to buy pre-builts for a video card. We used to laugh at resellers pushing their overpriced prebuilts.
People need to just chill for a while until supply improves in a month or two. Go find another hobby for a bit.
It's really not. It's rather a call to people to take a step back and look at how absurd the price has gotten for these toys compared to other things that are, by most people's estimation more valuble and long lasting. It could be antique chairs, or fine glasswear, or a literal mountain of...
That's just it. We're in the territory of buying hobby stuff that is quite high-end and will last you a lifetime. If I didn't already have one, I could kit out a very solid home gym for that money.
This is precisely what they'll do. We'd like to be suprised, but we won't. And a 9070 xt that performs like a 5070 ti that is priced $50 cheaper is dead in the water.
Very similar boat here. I stepped back to a 6950xt after selling my 4090 in November. I don't feel like I'm missing alot, and think this is the first gen I won't have the top card since Ti 4600.
I have the money, but thess prices and supply have reached a level of absurdity that have pushed...
Ahem... Ceterum autem censeo venalicium esse delendam.
Imagine being AMD's homo venalicius right now. This is the sort of stuff he'll need to explain in job interviews for the rest of his career.
I hear that on the L5-S1 (L4 and L5 for me, old sports and demo job injuries I reinjure every few years). WFH a few days a week has literally kept me from having to take sick time off (largely caused from 9-11hr days of sitting in the office). It's an old adage at this point, but I'm working...
Prices for 5090 and 5080 are starting to come to light with retailers here in the UK. In summary, pucker up butter cups. As expected, AIBs are tacking on a few hundred even for their bottom-rung models with additional fat added for retailers e.g. cheapest Zotac 5090 models will retail for...
On release, Age of Conan was one of the first games using DX10, actually used its new features, and was very demanding. It really needed SLI or Crossfire to run well.
As for Lovelace, apart from the FE, the AIBs did have bottom-shelf models of 3080 at launch for MSRP. But these were in very small volume and, after initial sell out in about 20 seconds, weren't seen back in stock for months. On the other hand, AIBs made sure there was ample stock of their...
You can buy used 4090s here in the UK for £400 less today than you could Monday afternoon, and there are tons of them. Possibly controversial, but I wouldn't touch a used one for more than £1200/$1200. That said, this is thd time to buy one.
Mine weren't installing new hardware but unlocking that hardware to its fullest potential: 1) figuring out how to allocate an extra 256k of sys mem in cmd prompt from 4mb to play Wing Commander and Ultima Black Gate 2) unmasking shaders on my GF 6800 vanilla to a 6800 GT.
You just need a 4x8 pin female to 12+4 pin male adapter. It adapts your PSU's four graphic card cables to the newer 12+4 pin connector.
I used one with my older Evga Supernova 1000w and a 4090 Strix oc and it worked fine. No need to buy a new PSU.
I would have said 5080 was going to be a dud prior to announcement. But since it's $1000, I can definitely see nV and resellers moving units. It's priced right below a lot of people's "non-starter" price limit, and I expect a lot of people who were expecting to pay ~$850 i.e. 5070 ti will...
Yea, that's a non-zero possibity. Do like me: sell exactly 31-35 days before launch/announcement and use a back-up card for a bit. Sold my 4090 on Dec 3 for $1700.
5070 won't be on par with 4090 in "real" performance (not counting the 1/2 VRAM) -- it's not even nearly possible. It's more likely close to 4080/Super in actual rasterization.
The 5070=4090 performance statement made by nVidia is outlandish, and borderline deceptive, even with the "only...
I can also play my stereo louder from a cassette player than from my high-end turntable.
Better frames for downgraded image quality and fluidity. We really need a reviewer to take [H]'s old approach of focusing on quality and overall experience.
There will certainly be some benefit, specifically in research fields. But on the whole, unntil therte are some real tectonic cultral and political shifts, it's going to be a whole lot of pain for the world,
A big part of my job is driving projects around AI automation to eliminate the need...
