What's your point?
That anti-reflective glass causes blacks=grey? If so, I fail to comprehend how that is logically possible. The black level is dependent solely on the panel and backlighting.
1. Not all TN panels are the same.
2. Not all IPS panels are good.
3. There are many other aspects of the monitor that you ought to analyse. Input lag, flicker-free backlighting, black levels, colour accuracy, contrast, etc.
First of all, I question whether you truly need an IPS panel.
Is it for the purported colour accuracy or colour gamut? Well, you'll be surprised to learn that quality TN panels can beat IPS panels in these aspects.
Is it for the ostensibly better viewing angles? Well, TN offer decent...
I think the most exciting feature is the anti-reflective glass screen though.
"feature a glass coating for super-clear images, but has an anti-smudge and anti-reflective coating to it which really helps cut out the glare." Source: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/31.htm#dell_up2715k...
Does this sentence make any sense to anyone???
"With the recent release of the Z97 Intel Express chipset, and Intel's communicating that it seemed a Z97 chipset motherboard would be required for Devil's Canyon usage, has surely left some with a bad taste in their mouth especially if you are...
Is the Samsung 840 EVO 1TB slated for review anytime soon? I'm curious to know how the steady state 70/30 read/write performance as well as the latency of the EVO 1TB compares with the Crucial M500 960GB. Sadly, few other review site test for these two extremely important performance metrics.
That's just your opinion, don't make it sound as if it's a biblical truth. I can definitely notice the input lag of my U2713HM, which is tested to be faster than the U2713H. It's therefore likely that Deredox will notice the input lag of the U2713H.
NCX also said that
Believe him.
I went...
After spending 2 months with the U2713HM, I decided to publish my thoughts on this monitor.
Green to indicate aspects which I want Dell monitors to continue to have.
Yellow to indicate aspects which I want to see improvements in.
Pros:
PWM flicker is indeed non-existent, even at 0%...
Thank you Mark for your very informative post!
Do you have any monitors to recommend? One that preferably can cover the sRGB colour space entirely and has correct gamma so that colours don't look washed out.
All things considered, I decided to go with the U2713HM. Here are some of my thoughts regarding the monitor after a week of use. Hopefully they will help wyqtor decide if it suitable for him.
The monitor is currently hooked up to my Macbook Air via a minidisplay port to display port cable. FYI...
One thing that worries me though is the use of FRC in the VP2770. I know that few people are affected by FRC flicker, but I don't want to take any chances. Are there any complaints about FRC flicker? Google search yielded nothing. And does 8+2 FRC cause less flicker than 6+2 FRC, since the...
Thank you for your replies!
If Dell's QC is indeed so poor, then I certainly won't buy the U2713HM. Truth be told, I have some reservations about buying Dell monitors because of the Dell panel lottery incident many years ago. On the other hand, such unethical business practices are committed by...
Thank you to both of you for your quick replies!
Please allow me to ascertain a few things.
Among all Eizo monitors, only the monitors in the EV series utilise hybird dimming.
The 3 EV2x16W monitors use TN technology and claim to produce 16.77million colours, so they definitely use FRC...
Bump!
I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. I'm looking for a flicker-free sRGB monitor (or at least partially flicker-free) and the Eizo's flexiscan EV series seem to fit the bill. Problem is, I don't know which of the 6 monitors has the least aggressive AG coating. Size nor price isn't...
Great to see that Crucial has finally updated their SSD. But I'm now more than ever confused as to which SSD to buy.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Samsung, Crucial, Plextor and Intel (in no particular order) are regarded as the more reliable SSD brands, although I do understand that the new OCZ...
Ah I see. Thanks! ;)
So the question I should instead be asking is, how much FPS improvement can I expect from the increase in oc?
Also, what is the maximum voltage allowed on the Matrix (without any hard mods)? The DirectCUII is 1182mV if I'm not mistaken.
(H)ardOCP managed these overclocks...
"The ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II drew 385W of total system wattage from the wall under full load, which came in under the both the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and GeForce GTX 680"
Doesn't the GTX680 have a lower power draw?:D
Would someone be so kind as to explain what the Matrix offers over this...
My experience with ATI and Nvidia are quite different from yours. :p I find that Nvidia offers a smoothing gaming experience for me. The ATI card, while having a higher average FPS, seems to have lower minimum FPS. Thus, I experience FPS spikes during intensive game-play.
Audio technica AD-700. Decent pair of headphones, but I would like the corsair's gaming headset for its greater comfort level and noise isolation. The AD700 lacks base big time too.
Intel 760
Asus P7P55D-E LX Intel P55
>1600 DDR3 <1.6V 2X2GB (preferably G.Skill with the red heatsink)
XFX 6850
Corsair HX650 or XFX combo if I can find it
Cooler Master RC-692 CM690 II
Samsung spinpoint F3 1TB
Samsung/LG/Acer 22-inch (see what I can get my hands on)
Did I miss out on...
So I'll have to change from a Gigabyte to Asus motherboard, get the G.Skill RAM (if I can find it!), and XFX PSU?
Thank you for your reply, especially to Danny Bui for your invaluable contributions!
I'm still undecided on a monitor though... are they all pretty much the same?
I wish to assemble a brand new computer from scratch. So I will need to buy a monitor, CD/DVD drive, HDD, CPU, RAM, GPU, Case (chassis) and Motherboard all for $1000.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming & Web browsing. My friend...
Could you kindly recommend me some PSUs please? :D
I do realise that the HX620 has been outclassed by many other PSUs on the market now, even PSUs manufactured by infamous companies such as Antec, OCZ, thermaltake. But is it still the power supply to buy?
I do get itchy too. I guess it's the bacteria or some other microorganisms that is causing this sensation. :p
When I wipe the ear-pads with a wet cloth and sun it (for a while), I no longer itch.
Newegg, amazon and some of the more popular online stores no longer sell their products, which is a pity :(. They sell quite decent sound cards.
So I guess you're right, they are no longer in North America.
So you're agreeing with what Kett says?
Anyway, kett made a good statement.
The passion and love for a particular hobby, and how much you are willing to sacrifice in order to obtain the best equipment you can afford should be a more appropriate way to determine if someone is an...
