Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I haven't looked into temps for the other cards, but 75C under load seems to be pretty common for the EVGA XC3 Ultra. Mine hasn't really gone past that though, at least in initial benchmarks.
Finally arrived... will test it out tonight. I'm going to try it without the firmware update first just out of curiosity to see if I get the fan whine.
Hah wow, I'd say so. Nice improvement. This will definitely blow my 980ti out of the water. (Well anything will, as it's dead lol)
Good news on the whine front - if anyone runs into the noisy third fan, EVGA released a firmware fix already here...
Have a chance to test out your card yet?
I saw a few threads popping up on the EVGA forums about the third fan (by power connectors) having a bit of a whine. Have you experienced anything like that? Just curious if it's a vocal few or more widespread. Haven't received mine to try out yet.
Glad to see it arrived!
Mine finally moved on from Kentucky after sitting for 12 hours. Maybe there's hope for getting it tomorrow instead (unless they use bicycle courier the rest of the way) 😁
Have you received yours yet? Same exact scenario here including the shipping - but my card arrived at Louisville at 1am last night and stopped moving. They've now updated it to Monday for the estimate with no delay reason given. So much for next day air...
I was incredibly lucky and managed to get one from EVGA directly.
I had a few browser windows open and ready at 9am EST, in order of preferred card and retailer options. Got an XC3 Black in to my cart on Best Buy, but then checkout wouldn't let me select delivery to my address, and all the...
Following up here in case anyone stumbles on this thread later -- it was the included DisplayPort cable. I ended up switching it out with one from the DP certified list and I've not had a problem since. Here's what I ended up using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003E2U8EE
Closing the loop on this... the new cable fixed the issue. Haven't had any troubles since switching it in to replace the one from the box. I ended up using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003E2U8EE
So it looks like your mileage may vary with the included DisplayPort cable the monitor comes with. The cable is a 6ft BizLink e164571-ks, and it looks like that may be the same cable that has come with other monitors like the ASUS PB278Q - and I've seen mixed reports of successes and failures...
So, the black flashing has still continued, and this time after a flash, I was left with a screen like this:
http://i.imgur.com/Y85LFjG.jpg?1
Turning the monitor on/off didn't work, and I noticed the OSD looked fine when up. So, I tried dropping the refresh from 144 to 120 in the NVIDIA control...
Just grabbed a tool and I'll check. Everything looks good now but I'll see if it spikes when any flashes occur. What is considered acceptable latency? I actually just had 3 in a row right after turning on my computer just now. It seems like it is getting worse.
Are you using the included DP...
Getting a new issue after upgrading my monitor and video card, so not sure what the culprit here might be. I just got an Acer XB270HU and an EVGA GTX 980ti (SC+/ACX), and I'm using the DisplayPort cable included with the monitor to connect.
Every now and then, I'm seeing a really quick black...
Sounds like it has been getting better which is great. But there are still some bad apples as with any product. I forgot to mention in my review that my manufacture date was listed as May 2015 on the box.
So, reporting back after getting my display from Amazon. This was an order after Amazon started selling them directly again and dropped the notice about the product being under review.
I've never had any nicer displays before, nor an IPS display, so take all this with a grain of salt...
Amazon has started selling this monitor again. It is back as being listed as ships/sold by Amazon.com (Prime eligible), and no longer is showing the message about the product being under review: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XB270HU-bprz-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00UPVXDA8
Was just asking this on another thread as well -- how are people's experiences with Newegg or Amazon in regards to displays and exchanges for things like stuck pixels or excessive backlight bleeding and the likes?
So, I was thinking of playing panel roulette for this one. Couple questions:
1) Is Newegg or Amazon (Prime) easier to work with for monitor returns if I encounter issues with this panel? I'm US based if that helps.
2) What attracted me to this was G-Sync, 1440p, and IPS. I will be...
So, the new 1.02 firmware update for the M5 Pro is available, advertising random-reads of up to 100,000 IOPS.
The firmware can be downloaded on the M5 Pro firmware page.
I tested this upgrade on my 128gb M5 Pro, and, well... pretty much nothing:
Before:
After:
As you can see...
What kind of cooling / case are you using? I haven't looked much into how the Ivy Bridge chips are with heat, and I'm curious how far I might be able to push mine. I'll likely be using my current Corsair H50 for CPU cooling (two Scythe Gentle Typhoons (AP-14) in a push/pull on the radiator)...
Great help all. I think I'll be looking into the i5-3570k. I checked out that Microcenter deal atp -- not bad. They have a good bundle price with that CPU and the ASRock Extreme3. However, Newegg is running a bundle deal with the same CPU and the ASRock Extreme6, which also includes 8gb of...
Thanks again all.
I'm probably going to save up and try jumping over to a new CPU/Mobo vs. throwing more money at trying to scrap up 8gb of DDR2.
For the time being, I decided to finally attempt overclocking this. Sitting at 3.6GHz stable so far. I was surprised at how painless it was. I...
Hmm, I may have to start piecing together some new hardware. Thanks for all of the responses!
Nman -- I'm mainly getting over poor performance with lots of action on screen at the same time. Not so much stuttering, but just sustained 10-15fps max in big battles in some games like...
Thanks teletran8. I've definitely thought about snagging a SSD, maybe I'll finally jump on it. As for the RAM, I've thought about it, but I'm worried about stability. The motherboard series I have seems to have stability issues with high amounts of RAM, requiring voltage increases, which in...
I've been out of the loop for quite a while now. I won a QX6850 back at an Intel LAN party a long time ago, and haven't had a need to upgrade since then. I do primarily gaming, and I've been wondering if my CPU (well, and RAM too...) has been starting to bottleneck my system on some newer...
So, just an update... the TR2-800P was returned for a full refund, and I decided to jump on the XFX 750w Black Edition that was linked to in the Hot Deals forum. Seems like a more reliable, better branded PSU. Should give me some room to experiment with OC'ing the CPU as well. Maybe you...
Hey all, I just wanted to follow up and thank everyone for their suggestions and advice.
I ended up going with the GTX 480 and snagged a Thermaltake TR2-800P while it was on sale over at TD. Unfortunately the first one was a dud and I'm going to have to RMA it, but I'm just glad to have things...
Thanks again all.
I logged my MCP temps (which I understand to be the Southbridge) and they were maxing at around 74-75 which I understand to be fine, so I don't think it was overheating.
I threw the Antec back in there, and yup... perfect stability. My MCP temps are running a little...
Thor -- The same problems? Even having to toggle the PSU power switch or else the system wouldn't boot? Good to know... Hmm... well, the system shouldn't be running any hotter (my 8800GTX's fan was crapping out and the card was frequently hitting 95-97 which is hotter than my 480's gotten so...
Thanks for the response -- sorry I didn't list the specs. I thought due to the problem, and the fact that the PSU was pulsing the power and working only after toggling the PSU power switch, it was undoubtedly the supply. I'll admit I'm unfamiliar with PSU problems though... they've always...
I'm just curious if anyone has run into something like this. I just got a Thermaltake TR-800P for my system. The PSU definitely seems to be bad. I just upgraded my video card, so I've been trying some new games with maxed out settings. After a little bit of playing, my system will just...
Thanks for both the posts so far! I'm actually not OC'ing yet (I know, crazy with that processor, but I won it and was running on a stock cooler til a few days ago), but I'm considering maybe trying to take it to 3.4 or 3.5... I didn't really think about the fact that OC'ing will probably add a...
Okay... I'm not going to lie, I've always been very skeptical about PSU wattage recommendations that people tend to toss around. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember back when I built my current system, people were recommending 650w, 750w, 800w+ (...right), and my current build is running perfectly...
Bandit, I'm curious-- how are you hooking up your monitor to your PC? Are you using the HDMI-DVI cable that was included or something different? And you said you had access to the HDMI mode option in the OSD (the Video-PC mode toggle)?
It is 24.6" viewable (and is listed as such even in the specs), but I have absolutely no problems with any cutoff of the images while hooked up to my PC (HDMI-DVI, 1920x1080, Geforce 8800 GTX). My taskbar appears fully, and I don't have any problems with game's images being cut off. As I noted...
If anyone is interested, here is my review on the 25" Hannspree (1920x1080) that I ended up going with:

Right now, it's on sale for $279 at Best Buy.
