I have a 43" 4K TV as a monitor now. It's great. But, what would be even better would be 55" at the same or greater DPI. Imagine 43" 4K and making it bigger by adding pixels to make it 55" without making the pixels bigger. Higher DPI would be better because I can just scale up the UI and...
I know there are a few 65" 8K TVs.
I don't think there are any 55" 8K TVs anymore, right?
Are there any 60" 8K TVs or anything less than 65"? I searched rtings.com, and I don't see any.
Are any coming?
The new M2 Mac mini with the "M2 Pro" chip supports 8K at 60Hz over HDMI 2.1 with an HDMI cable that supports 48 Gbps.
I'm thinking about using that with the Samsung 55" 8K QN700B.
I'm trying to figure out if that will work.
Will that give me 60Hz and 4:4:4 chroma?
Any downsides?
Are there any practical options for 42" to 55" monitors with greater than 4K resolution?
I have a 43" 16:9 4K 60Hz Sony X720E right now. It's very good. I'm just dreaming about what my next monitor might be. I'd like something higher resolution, maybe a little bigger, and maybe a higher refresh...
Regardless of the monitor you get, color calibration can make a huge improvement as far as viewing dark scenes. I have an old Spyder4Pro. What I notice most after calibration is that I can see the difference between shades where before things were all muddy because the shades were too bunched up...
I made a video putting together my new setup. It's a 2018 Mac mini + Sony 43" X720E + Ergotron LX HD Arm. It's a huge upgrade for me compared to what I had before.
I sure wish this came in a 50-55" size. That would make it around the same height and dpi as a typical 43" 4K, but about 12" wider.
This 5120x2160 is the ultimate resolution, in my opinion.
I read that the Sony X720E standby mode doesn't kick in for 15 minutes after the input signal turns off. Is that true? If so, that seem too long to be practical.
Anyone that uses this as a monitor, do you use the standby mode, or do you turn it on/off manually?
If manually, do you find the...
Besides this site, where is a good news site or blog where I can read about new displays, monitors, and TVs that might be coming? I just did some googling, and searched a few gadget sites, but I don't see much.
I'm looking for updates on what's planned or rumored for 2019 from the major...
I'm looking for an adjustable desk monitor arm for a 43" 22.3 lb Sony 43X800E.
Ergotron LX HD Sit-Stand Desk Arm:
https://www.ergotron.com/en-us/products/product-details/45-384#/
It supports up to 46" 30 lb monitor. Newegg has it for $242. Huge adjustable range.
Ergotron HX Desk Monitor Arm...
I've been looking forward to the 43" F models, but I still don't see any. I wonder if they will ever be available?
...I just checked the dates that the X720E and X800E first became available on Amazon, and it was June 13, 2017 and February 10, 2017, respectively. It's not June yet, so I guess...
It has 921,600 fewer pixels than a typical 3840 x 2160 4K display: 7,372,800 pixels vs 8,294,400.
If it's 48.5" diag, the screen is 46.7" x 13.1" and 109.7 dpi.
If it's 49.0" diag, the screen is 47.2" x 13.3" and 108.54 dpi
It's interesting.
44" would be my fav. 43", which is always more like 42.5", is the next best thing.
A 44" 4K display would be 100 DPI, 38.3" wide, 21.6" high (without bezel).
Yes. 34" is too small, especially at 21:9. I'm uninterested in anything that small at any resolution. 55" at 21:9 would be 50.7" x 21.4". That would be great. Not too tall, and very wide. That's about the same height as a 43" 16:9, but about 13" wider. ...if I did my math right.
I'd rather have 7680x3440, but, more likely it would be 7680x3200. That would be a little closer to true 21:9 and double the horz & vert res of 3840x1600, like the Acer XR382CQK, LG 38UC99-W, and ViewSonic VP3881. So, 4 of those in one. At 50" diag it would be 46.2''x19.2'' and 166.4 dpi. ...I'm...
I wish they made this monitor 43" instead of 31.5".
Actually, I wish they had reduced the vertical res to 3440, so that it would be 7680x3440, and thus 21:9 instead of 16:9, and made it 50" diag (45.6"x20.4'') which would be the same height as a 43" 4K but 8.6" wider.
I only just noticed this display.
32:9 is ridiculously wide in my opinion. This has exactly half as many pixels as a typical 4K display. It's only 81dpi.
A 49" 21:9 with ~8M pixels would be great. At 49" with 4352x1906, it would be 97dpi and 44.9''x19.7''. That would have the same number of...
Yeah, I see. I wasn't questioning why they rated the 800E over the 800D. That makes sense to me. I questioned why they list the 800D instead of the 800E on their Best PC Monitor page. Though, my main question, which I think wyqtor answered, is why they rated the 830C higher than the 800E.
How does the Sony XBR43X800E compare to the XBR43X830C as a monitor?
Why does Rtings give the X830C a better PC Monitor rating of 7.9 compared to 7.6 for the X800E?
Rtings still lists the X830C as the best PC Monitor. But, it's weird because it says "The winner is Sony XBR43X830C" and then all...
LG now lists it on their US site.
Amazon now has both the 43UD79T (with a review) and 43UD79-B listed. I guess the T model is already shipping. It shows the B model ships in 1-3 weeks.
B&H says it expects to ship at the end of May.
I've been considering this LG 38UC99 monitor and the similar Acer XR382CQK, and comparing it to the available 43" 4K 3840x2160 monitors.
This is just my opinion...
I love this aspect ratio. The monitor size of 37.5" and resolution of 3840x1600 are pretty good. The 111 dpi is a little high for...
Thanks for posting this. Where did you find it? Do you have a link?
You say you found the specs with a quick google search. Uh, really? When I search for EA430K, nothing comes up except your post!
That's a nice looking setup SixFootDuo.
I'm not completely against 49" (not including the bezel). If the choice was between 40" and 49", I would pick 49". If I was gaming, I would prefer the 49". Over a year ago, I was ready to buy a 48" Samsung, but I was waiting for other reasons. Now that...
If there was a 43" KS, I would seriously consider it.
Long ago I figured out on my own that viewing angles are one of the most important things to me. But, I understand not everyone feels the same way.
I can't disagree with your experience. You are correct that it seems they have not tested the KU7500. But, they tested the KU7000 and gave it a lower PC Monitor rating than the KU6300. In their KU7000 review they say "In the end, the Samsung KU7000 is not easy to recommend since the KU6300 is...
Thanks for the replies. Especially killerbobjr, great info.
And, thanks for mentioning the Sony and LG, they weren't on my radar. Correcting and adding to my list:
Samsung 43KU7000
Samsung 43KU7500
Wasabi Mango UHD430
Philips BDM4350UC
Dell P4317Q
Sony XBR43X830C
LG 43UF7600
I'll check out...
I'm shopping for a 42-44" 4K Monitor...
For web development + minor photo editing, not gaming
4:4:4 60Hz
Either HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2
Prefer better viewing angles and color over speed
Prefer RGB, but could live with BGR and turn off font smoothing
Prefer flat over curved
Available in US
