AMD says the voltage restrictions are due to voltage limitations of the added cache, however, our testing indicates that the limitations almost certainly have something to do with the chip's heat dissipation issues.30 Mar 2023 Toms Hardware
They are clocked close to the maximum out of the box and due to the stacked cache memory it's hard to get rid of the heat even with a big cooler. I won't pretend to be an expert on the subject but do some homework on the subject before trying to OC them . Modern CPU leave little headroom...
My Radeon RX480 8gb gave me years of good service at 1080p, only upgrades xmas 2023 (18mth) as I was not prepared to pay the mining/covid premium. Its still doing service in another rig now.
The big problem as I see it is any one smart enough to argue with an AI. example: Maths proofs are being done with AI but can you figure out as a mere human the internal logic of the AIs argument. Fujitsu's Horizon system , created by humans minds managed to wrongly say that hundreds of self...
Have a 6800xt since Christmas. Fantastic card if your not bothered about RT. Needs a bit of taming as mine a Sapphire Pulse ran at 2450 out of the box and circa 90c . A tad hot for my liking so I dialled it back a bit and honestly I can tell the difference of a few less fps. Nice build by the way.
If you start over clocking you will find your power requirements will increase exponentially as will the heat generated, so a 10% increase in CPU/GPU frequency can increase power draw by 20% and more . If you care about the efficiency of you PSU you should try to keep the demand on it below...
My Card came from Germany, my Son an engineer who works there bought it for me. It looked brand new in the box with protective plastic on card. etc so I don't think it was a x crypto card with mod bios, but hell who knows these days :) My days of pushing stuff to the edge are behind me. I...
My 6800xt was hitting 2500 stock out of the box at Christmas. Cut the voltage and kept the revs to 2300 as it was hitting 90c plus. Seems recent driver is not good.
Ive a strix x570 . I just upgraded to a 6800xt and I agree with kirbyrj, there is not a lot of room under it and with 250 watts of heat coming of the card you dont want anything in the way. My choice of the Strix x570 was based on the very good, according to the reviews, of the power supply to...
Hi Folks
Got a new Sapphire pulse 6800xt and it running very fast and hot at stock settings , out of the box. I've seen it hit 2490 and 95 c at times. using latest Adrenalin drivers etc. Should it run this fast at stock. advertised frequency are 2300 boost. have tried under clocking it...
Thanks people, sad in a way to retire the Rx480 8 GB. Had done great gaming over the years. Going to pass it on to my son to use as a CAD card. 8GB made it a great card.
Hi Folks
My kids gave me a Sapphire 6800xt for Christmas, I know lucky me :) I'm using a Super flower Leadex PSU 750 watt PSU Modular which has 2 GPU outputs. I only one of the PSU GPU outputs and one lead and one plug for the RX480. The supplied leads (came with 2 for sli) have 1 x 8 at the...
Still rocking a rx480 8GB with my 3700x on an x570. Refuse to pay the crazy prices to up grade when this great card plays everything well at 1080p. Ok so I'm not getting 100 fps but so what. Everything on high. I'm happy
On the demand side Harmatten we don't have most of the western population stuck home in lockdown, I think this will effect demand to some extent, although if I was always right with my crystal ball I would be a billionaire LOL. It the unknown unknowns that trip you up.
We are in the start of a major recession and inflation is going to stay high for a long time. You cant print money both sides of he Atlantic for 10 years and not expect to have to pay for doing same. Interest rates are going to keep going up and will probably end up above 5% long term, in...
Crypto is the ultimate expression of Capitalism. Energy to Money without the need for costly workers . Like 90% of the financial system it is a leech on humanity. To quote from that classic western " the outlaw josey wales" , "don't piss on my back and tell me its raining "
RX580.... I'm using my RX480 8Gb from my old rig with my 3700x Ryzen/X570 build for last 18mths. @1080p I get 60-100 fps at max on BF 1,4,5 etc. MSFS2020 40fps at high. AC Valhalla north of 40 at max. I'm not paying 1000 plus euro for a new card anytime soon.
Still rocking my RX 480 8gb. fine for anything at 1080p. was going to up grade to a 1440 monitor but until GPU are back to normal on prices that purchase is on hold. My 3700x takes a lot of the load with MS FS2020. FPSs all run about 70-90 at Ultra so no rush.
Dont think so. The great rip off continues. Built a 3700x system last July. Still rocking my rx 480 8GB which is apparently worth 350 euro 2nd hand. Still a great card and I've no intention of paying a 1000+ for a 300 euro replacement.
Currently using a 30 inch 1080p 60 htz LG telly as my monitor with my trusty rx480 8gb ( great card even if old) No way am i paying 750 plus euro for a card when my current one is giving me 70fps plus in bf 5 etc and a solid 50 in AC Valhalla on High. Guess my 3700x is doing the heavy...
Delighted that real world cpu and gpu are being used. I'm sick of reviews that mainly use titan level cards and very high end Intel chips. It like reading reviews of porches and Ferrari supercars that the 99% of us will never own or drive. Sure it's nice to know where the bleeding edge is but my...
Im Playing BF1 BF3 at 1080p high and happy enough on a old Quad 6600 at 3.4 More cores dont mean more speed. If I upgrade it will be a 2nd hand 4790k, still the best price performance out there. Its the Graphics card you have to dump money on and they are silly cash. Need serious competition on...
Monkey God I cant see how my question is answered. My question was why would Intel cripple a chip with a mediocre TIM on their High end enthusiast unlocked CPU. I think it for marketing and this is why: I worked as a Technical Recruitment consultant in the 80s in Ireland and then London...
Thanks for all the informative comments. But back to my original question. Why would you cripple your top of the line consumer CPU which being unlocked and aimed at enthusiasts like us with Tim that's not up to the job. I'm convinced that 6 months on they will release a 5k kabylake with a good...
