Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
If you're taking the stand that "AIO will do 90%", why bother with the AIO at all? A Peerless Assassin / Phantom Spirit will do 85% and be more reliable than cheap AIOs.
My split is currently: Either go Peerless Assassin / Phantom Spirit for <$40, or grab a D5 and a good rad and you'll have the core of a WC setup basically forever that will outperform those aluminum AIOs.
Unless you really need the simplicity or preconfigured disco lights, my usual answer here is "none". Go grab a D5, a radiator that matches your desired case size (I like full tower cases with a 420mm rad myself), a tube rez for easy filling, and a waterblock. Much higher quality in the end...
I’m sure that integration is all great if corporate security doesn’t lock you out of it all. Even if I was one of those guys willing to buy a personal MacBook to use in parallel with my work one for all the integrated features with my iPhone / whatever, it still doesn’t solve the issues that...
I really don’t know how people tolerate MacOS. It’s stuck on an ancient version of bash and command output doesn’t match Linux meaning you can’t do local development for a Linux environment, and compatibility with other desktop software isn’t there. 2 weeks ago we had a client call using MS...
I presume the tablet is screen extended over the network? It’s neat in theory, but completely useless when using VPN for work.
The SSH case is valid though, for needing almost no hardware - VPN in, ssh to your real host with access to everything, and off you go. Could almost use an old 2010...
Fine with me, especially if they go back to lower latency NAND. I’d much rather have a 1Tb latency optimized SLC NVME drive than a 16 TB QLC drive. A low latency drive really improves the use case I want a NVME drive for. For bulk storage, I’m still fine with spinners
The problem here is that I strive to never use any of those HIDs, so they hold almost no value.
For work, I'm using a windows laptop because WSL is where it's at - my servers are Linux, so I want to actually be using Linux for anything local. At home, I dock my laptop and use a full sized...
I'm most interested in running Distributed Computing projects on my host while also using it for other things. If I'm not gaming my GPU is running Folding@Home and I'm almost always running 28 threads of something like Universe@Home. I think a 7950 is the best solution for my use case, but...
As I've been thinking about it, if I were going to try to fold with 4x cards, I'd probably build one system now with 2x 4090s and use it as a learning experience - a benefit is I think you can get away with running dual 4090s on air in the right case, you don't have to worry about exotic power...
I didn't see any suggestions for power limiting the cards. Basically all of the Nvidia cards going back to the 980 have the maximum efficiency at 55% power limit +/- 5%. My 3080ti kicks out dramatically less heat at 55%, and bumping it up to 110% really cranks up the heat but adds less than...
Based on the 4070ti Super, it might be the L2 cache makes a larger difference than initially expected.
Edit - to expand on this idea:
4070ti super -> 4080 super: 25% increase in L2 cache, 18% more performance.
4080 Super -> 4090: 12% increase in L2 cache, 13%more performance
Probably need...
Sweet, sweet music to my ears! :D
Next year I'm going to begin the recruitment earlier and buy more hardware to try to pump those numbers even higher, as now there is a target to beat. Might be a good idea to keep some discussion going about software to track the race and see what we can make...
I read through the linked article in post one. It mentions apps like Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Zoom calls - all things that are very stationary, or contained within a single room. All the same tech for those use cases would likely be best served NOT in the headset to lighten it up and increase...
I have a hard time believing that we need 10-20 years. A 4090 for each eye should be plenty of processing power - I think the mistake at the moment is trying to haul the whole PC around with you.
Like make Siri not pause my ESPN stream every time I get in the car to play “baby sleep white noise”?
Seriously, I don’t care that I’ve played “baby sleep white noise” for 20,000 hours, there is no situation ever where I want to play it as soon as I get in my car.
Blackwell may be delayed. If it’s significantly delayed then what Makes sense changes.

Green eggs and ham.
I will not eat them in a box
I will not eat them with a fox
I will not eat them Here
I will not eat them There
I will not eat them anywhere
I do not like them Sam I am
I do not like green eggs and ham
Just checked another WU - 15.4m PPD. I've got too many systems attached to my account for a clean reporting for PPD, but I've been around 30m ppd for most of the month, so I'm hoping the Ti Super pushes me up at 45m (ish) ppd by the end of the week.
Asus TUF 4070 Ti Super. The 4080 Super is almost certainly the better option, but if I waited I couldn't use the new hardware on the race. As it is, the Ti Super is dramatically faster than the 1080ti that I was using on that box.
The contest, to my understanding, is team overall scoring. I'm tracking the Team Anandtech total output per day and I'll be posting in our F@H forum thread. If no one else is doing it, I'll probably post the overall standings somewhere as well, but I won't be tracking individual users personally.
Based on Tech Spot's averages at 4k, the 4070 S and 3080 are pretty close. Looks like if you want an upgrade from a 3080 and don't want to wait for the 5xxx series, you'll need to start at the 4070 Ti Super.
The business side of this isn't hard to understand.
If you're selling out of a product (including but not limited to Video Cards), make more. If you can't make more, raise your price. Keep making more and raising your prices until you still have stock - your product is priced appropriately...
Kind of annoying that they are releasing them from the bottom up. I'm in the market for a card to replace a 1080ti, but have by far the least interest in the 4070 Super. Would much prefer to see how 4080 Super inventory shakes out before having to decide if I want to drop down to a 4070 ti S
Hahahaha- good joke. We all know that the actual price of the 3080 was at least 1200, because you had to pay a scalper to get one, or spend $600 of your time trying to get lucky. The crypto market set the price, and ai will continue to set the price going forward. We won’t see 699 80 series...
It might make sense for that one off build, except you have to pay for it every time you build a new machine. Presuming she has an existing system, you could just carry over the GPU from that into the new system and costing you nothing, instead of paying for iGPU transistors. I've been moving...
Yes, the 7xxx series has the iGPU. I currently have a 7950 sitting next to me with the iGPU disabled. It's literally wasted transistors - any use of the those transistors would be more useful to me than an iGPU. As I think about it, you know what I want more than Cache? Use that same...
I'd much rather they dump the iGPU and use the same number of transistors for a L4 cache. Would be more useful that an iGPU I'm always going to disable and never use.
