It's funny, these monitors sound good when you are reading the sales pitch, but eeeesh.
I've never liked one I saw in person.

I bought the new phone, s24 ultra. I've never bought a phone before so I went allaway. (always hand me downs)
Very impressive. films 8k, shoots a 200MP photo !!

I apologize for the lack of updates. My rig is back to thin client mode, still don't have the cable I need for PC to TV. (not hard to find, I'm just lazy)
No biggie though, Fate has intervened on my behalf.

Clarification :
Thermal Design Power is a marketing term effectively.
-
The actual term , from electrical design, is Total Dissipated Power
This is a very real number.
It's the wattage a device or system uses when 'completely on', you can measure it.
It's the 'completely on' bit that...
Both of those designs require energy input to turn on, which is the 'inherently safe' method.
👍
We need an "all of the above approach".
-----
That's a scary aspect of nuclear power !
---
Here's my thought. I say this as pro oil and gas. pro nuclear, pro-solar........All of the above.
....And I...
Very much this.
----
You have to understand the initial thought patterns behind the very first reactors. At first it was pure science, "self-sustaining reactions " was the goal.
The second they accomplished this, nuclear weapon design took over entirely.
---
You don't want "self-sustaining" for...
I think it might be easier to sample plasma from the sun, than the way they are doing it.
The only way it's going to work is precision directional drilling.
Just pipes.
No electronics/fiberoptics/electrics....
Oil wells have no cameras !

Corium is a new solid created by humanity...
A new sampling effort is underway at the destroyed Fukushima nuclear plant.

There's several posts here about how electrically based robots don't like...
Bingo !
I'd laugh every time I turned on the lights !
I have a friend who uses an echo to control lights, display weather and listen to the radio.
I won't lie, the lighting control is very cool.
"Aziz light ! , movie room, half power, 35%red, 10% blue"

We discussed this at length...
My 0.05 worth.
( $850.00 US/year)
I need video editing and picture editing.
I'm a current Creative Cloud user---totally non-professional. I pay a lot of money just to eff around with ski videos 30-40 people see.
Not thrilled with windows 11/ Adobe telemetry. (among a whole list of other things)...
I'd agree, but in the old days, I'd shutoff my computer to unplug/plugin monitors, so I've never really noticed.
I think It's actually 'windows multi-monitor' that's got the issues ....the Nvidia multimonitor is a copy of that.
I've run dual monitors since a 15" CRT was the latest thing...
That's a massive X11 supermicro mobo too, superEatx or something....
I could actually get 2x 4090's in there, if I gave up every motherboard port....lol.
This rig was formerly watercooled (why I went with the 10.)
----------
Nice to see the effing 1070's gone !
:dead:
edit : I look forward...
So the "forgets' thing happens everytime when plugged into the receiver.
As soon as the receiver controlling the 8k shuts off, Nvidia control panel loses all multimonitor profiles.....I get this ;

Not a biggie really, just need to recheck those boxes, but it's abnormal compared to other...
Over what air ? hehe
--------
My receiver is a Denon AVRX1800H, fully setup for 8k. I do run optical from the tv back to the receiver, running straight to the TV was how I got it working at first.
Everything is working now, but I'm still playing around a bit.
:D
Woooop !
8k/60/HDR10 video from PC to TV is finally working !
Truly something to behold, once again, stunning.
Just watching youtube demo loops at the moment, trying to find 8k Olympic streams.....typing this on monitor 2, TV is monitor 3 running the 8k demos right now.

It's definitely...
I'm actually doing a rebuild/clean of my rig. The finest case ever made, Caselabs SMH10 white.
Caselabs 'custom' white SMH10. Just put the white 4090 in.(WTF ASUS, black connector on the white card ?)

Please let me apologize, it's filthy, all the panels are off, cleaning.
Just getting...
Awesome elvn !!
I will help ! I'm so shocked by how nice this TV is I want to make everyone aware !
We'll start with Q3 and work up. I'll definitely need help with testing protocols.
I'm curious too !

It's on :
Asus 4090 OC white edition into the edit rig....

Nice ! The title says it all.
The upsampling is something else. I watched Escape from New York from a HD cable source, it was like I've never seen the movie.

I have ordered a 35 foot (exact length basically) HDMI 2.1 cable, on the way. I pick up my 4090 tomorrow.
I should have 8k...
Heh.

I will agree to disagree with the gentleman that doesn't know about Thermalright.
Shown above ; Thermalright TRUEcopper.
I have dissipated over 600 watts through one of these VIA Peltier setup, it's not even soldered.
I've never seen better performance from any other company...
So related to the garden, I have an 8k video to shoot.
.
------
In the last while, these little buggers have made a nest right next to my BBQ.
More to come once I think about the logistics of the shoot.
:dead:
edit ; I have a 35 foot HDMI 2.1 cable enroute, prolly pick up a new video card...
Nice !
The 9 bark is pretty ratty, have not had time.
-------
I'm going back out to take pics with tripod/remote. I am also looking at a good macro lens for the r5, but i'm not sure I have any piggybank left.....heh
:ROFLMAO:
Yea dammit......took so long to upload I thought it got it, just resampling I guess.
Try this ;
8k garden.JPG
Works for me, sorry for the crappy focus, freehand.....I'm learning you can't really do that with this camera without setting changes.
⭐
Thank you so much Sycraft, elvn !!
There is a sea of HDMI 2.1 hybrid fiber cables, Thanks for the recommends !!
The cables really matter with this setup I found. I had medium quality 4k cables everywhere, when I hooked up the Denon/Samsung 8k routes, they were not good enough....spots/no...
Bang on elvn.
Right now I have cable tv including netflix/prime etc, all through the Denon receiver. Additionally, a 4k blu-ray player, and then a media drive plugged into the tv, or the blu-ray player. (the blu-ray player does a better job of handling media drives)
The blu-ray does 4:2:0, same...
I've had a chance to play around a little, I can expand on my review.
----
- The upsampling is fantastic. I have cable TV / Prime / Netflix. Any 1080P source will properly fullscreen and looks like 4k, 720p not so much. My 4k .mkv's look like 4k. A 4k blu-ray however looks much better than 4k...
Oh man, wow again !
Stunning . Flawless victory !!
I've only started (yesterday) with true 8k media, and I still have no way to feed 8k from my PC. I'm working on it.
I decided I will share the potato pics, poor res/drunk phone focus , they still show 8k brilliantly !
Here's the TV with an...
Wow !
-------
I'm watching the Jays/Indians baseball game right now in native 4k, what a sexy TV !!
They aren't kidding about the 'Infinity edge bezel' ! The bezel is 1mm, with little or no ambient lighting it melts into the wall visually. Very nice.
I did take some phone pics of it in...
tick tock, tick tock,.... *grumble*

They sound fantastic actually. I get room filling sound at really low volume. It's a small room, I tried larger bookshelf speakers, still sucked. Seems counter-intuitive, but I really dig the way it's setup...
Ah well, Visions tells me 2 weeks still on the 900D. I'm chafing.
----
No doubt......Do people still use "computer speakers" ?? ewwww :ROFLMAO:
Here's mine ;
Just need new 8k monitors, looking into those asus ones.
(y)
You are correct, it's home theater.
However, being as there is no content, it needs to be an edit monitor too.....(still looking for 8k monitors lol !!!)
I'm working on the link between my video editing rig, and the new tv.
----
I think I have a lot to learn.
Woop !
The QN900D is ordered, along with a Denon AVRX2800H.
The new Klipsch center/sub are being installed.
TV first, but am working on the computer-receiver link.
(y)
I'm curious about wireless 8k/ range extenders and 8k.
I run a 4k over cat6 link between comp and TV (range extender), it's flawless. I've always wanted to eliminate the wire.
Thoughts ?
I can only assume massive file storage systems.
An 8k camera recording 60 FPS is doing about 2 billion pixels/sec.
-----------------------
Those RED camera's have thermal exhaust ports, because they use active cooling for that record rate. They use dual CFExpress I believe as memory.
:ROFLMAO:
Yep, the 'production' 4k monitors at B+H are $15-35k, There are no listings for 8k.
I hafta say, I was quite surprised by the prices on the RED 8k cameras. You could get into those for about $20,000, which is quite cheap, given the cost of any production grade cameras.
Certainly not 'hobbyist'...
