Graphics Card Necromancy - Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro

Wish I had those skills. Great job 👍

    RTX 3xxx performance speculation

Is this what you used? If so, it’s an extremely rough estimate that’s based on theoretical performance and not actual performance. You can probably determine that looking at where the 590 and 6990 sit in the lineup.

    RTX 3xxx performance speculation

If that is the case then there’s 4 cards with over a 50% performance gain over their predecessor. Also, 1080Ti 85% faster compared to the 980Ti...

    RTX 3xxx performance speculation

Just looking at that graph and at first glance it already looks off. The 8800 GTX was the biggest gain in performance vs. previous gen period. Anywhere from 50-100% over the 7900 GTX. The 285 to 480 looks a tad low as well. Still have to go through the rest...

    Here is some Minecraft RTX

My daughters RTX 2060 plays it at 1080p with DLSS and it’s mostly in the 50’s with 8 chunks. Plenty playable for most.

    Minecraft RTX Beta

That is with DLSS enabled. Runs fine with 8-12 chunks, but 24 is a killer.

lol. Just being lazy, and I shared the pics with multiple people using my phone.

    Minecraft RTX Beta

Now try the Temples and Totems map and play with 24 render chunks at 1440p and come back and tell me about that 100 FPS 😅 Also, check out that VRAM usage/allocation

    More DLSS...

Just trying out Minecraft RTX beta. At 1440p with the render chunks maxed out at 24 - DLSS 2.0 almost doubles the frame rate with nearly the same visuals as native. That said, the game is beast maxed out in beta. Some maps perform great, while others like this one are very demanding.

RUMOR: NVIDIA to announce the GeForce RTX 3000 in August

Very lackluster? The 2080Ti is a monster at 4K.

Rare GeForce GTX 480 With 512 CUDA Cores Emerges 10 Years Later

Temps are not that bad on a GTX 480 If you put a decent cooler on it. Very much like the R9 290X.

I just purchased Control for $30 on the Epic store. I definitely want to give this a go. I thought Wolfenstein and Bright Memory looked great.

Yes, Control and the DLC will be getting DLSS 2.0 treatment. I’d love to see Metro Exodus get this update, but I’m afraid it’s unlikely.

    AMD raytracing techdemo

I’m just regurgitating what DF said. What actually happens, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I also don’t think anyone should expect RDNA2 to have amazing RT performance. If I was a betting man, I’d say it’s RT performance is worse than Turing’s.
  20. F

    AMD raytracing techdemo

Correct. Digital Foundry stated there are no Tensor Core equivalents, which also means in order to perform INT8/4 operations it has to use the SPs to do so, meaning it will take SPs away from doing FP32/INT32 operations. Same goes for the stated combined 25 TFLOPs of RT performance. DF said the...

    AMD raytracing techdemo

Take this as you will, but I just took numbers from the Turing white paper and the Digital foundry article. Not sure if the RT performance numbers are comparable?

5700 xt vs. rtx 2070 super for a new build

You can apply sharpening at the global or game level in the NVIDIA control panel. Works for every game.
  23. F

HWUB/Techspot adds more games, 5700XT falls further behind 2070 Super.

Navi isn't just built for games. From the RDNA white paper - We will see variants that are purpose built to accelerate machine learning using mixed precision, similar to NVIDIA's tensor cores.

HWUB/Techspot adds more games, 5700XT falls further behind 2070 Super.

I know my opinion won’t be a popular one, but if I had $400 to spend on a GPU today, I’d probably reach for the RTX 2060 Super. Yes, it’s not quite as fast as the RX 5700 XT, but nothing a simple OC wouldn’t fix. The main reason why I would choose the 2060 S is because of the larger feature set...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

If you have sensitive eyes, then I would say no way. It’s not flicker free and hurt my eyes quite a bit.

    Nvidia Killer

Turning looks a lot like a gaming GPU to me… Strong concurrent FP32/INT32 performance, support for VRS and DXR… Also, Turing only has 2 FP64 units per SM, which makes it terrible for anything that loves double precision float performance.

Poll: AMD RX 5700 Series vs NVidia RTX Super. Which gets your money?

I wouldn't call RDNA "Brand New" as it still use the GCN ISA. How it executes quite differently though.

GeForce FX 5800 Ultra vs Radeon 9700 Pro

Was too cheap for the 9700 Pro back then, so I settled for a 9500 Pro. Funny thing is, I didn’t feel like I was settling :)

    Vega 56 + Freesync or RTX 2060 + 60hz

Global illumination in Metro was the only game to make my mouth drop. Simply put, the game looks next gen with it enabled. Not in every scene, but I’ve spent too much turning it off and on and It’s beautiful. Also, the 3rd update to DLSS for this game is much improved, as tt’s very usable and...

    A thread about G92 in 2019?! Yes...

    A thread about G92 in 2019?! Yes...

G92 got started in OCT 2007 (8800 GT) - A month later ATI/AMD released the HD 3870, a month later NVIDIA released the full fat G92 (8800 GTS 512MB) --- 6 months later the HD 4850 came out to play. So no, G92 had been on the market for quite sometime before RV770. The 9800 GTX+ and GTS 250...

Going from a Core 2 duo to i5 with GT 1030?

The GT 1030 is capable of getting over 100 FPS on average using competitive settings at 1080p with a decent CPU. Competitive settings = everything set to low and textures and draw distance set to Epic. To answer your question – Yes, the Core2Duo is holding him back big time. An upgrade to a Core...

    OMG....DXR works on DX12 GPU's!!!!

Correct, they're not compatible in all DX12 games, though Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, and many others will work in DX12, but with worse performance. Even DX12 only titles like Gear of war will work with Fermi GPUs.

Crytek Ray Tracing Demo NOIR out, hardware agnostic!

This is an implementation of SVOGI (CryEngine, Lumberyard), not full raytracing of the complete scene. It is essentially a voxel-based method to calculate global illumination (incl. reflections), i.e. the ray-tracing is used only in the same way as the RTX's ray-tracing is used in Battlefield 5...
