It works just fine with pcie 4x link. I run mine in an x16 slot that's 4x electrically. It *might* need a full 8x slot to provide the higher 75watt mode (should you choose to use it)

I ended up making an offer and getting one of the newer SX300 versions. Haven't received it yet, but downloaded the whole driver/firmware/manuals from Western Digital. They tried to obfuscate the firmware file by giving it a random file extension, but it's just a regular zip file...
