Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I've noticed when playing Deux Ex Human revolution (and I am sure I have had this problem with previous games too). That during game play I get a short stutter in performance. This happens when the auto-save feature activates but also at some other times.
I am running the game at quite low...
Hi,
That's a good suggestion, thanks. I don't think this is what is happening though or otherwise the locally sent packets wouldn't wake the PC either?
Thanks,
Brian
Hi - thanks for your reply. The PC on the local network is on a fixed IP. Obviously my Internet address can change but hasn't since I set all this up as I have checked.
I haven't actually measured how long until it stops doing it as it's quite difficult to measure but I will give it a go.
I have a problem with Wake On LAN (WOL) and wonder if anyone can help?
First of all I'll explain the setup.
The PC I am trying to Wake uses a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H motherboard with an onboard network card which does support WOL.
It is connected to a CISCO WRT320N router which is in...
Very true - you're better off going with high clock speeds. Photoshop does appear to use multiple cores if you have a billion pounds just sitting around.
Almost definetly the PSU nut if you do want to test the switch you can remove the connector fom the header and just connect the pins with a peice of wire or a copper coin. Just be careful to only touch those to pins together.
I've recently got a Gigabyte board with the latest AMD chipset and it's solid as a rock, even overclocked. It already supports USB3 (NEC chip) and 6 core CPUs AMD have recently released.
I know this isn't a direct answer to your question but if you are considering a 3rd party cooler and want to know noise levels for them this is a good site - I've ordered from them loads of times they are really good:

Thanks for the comments. AC back was set to memory so I have set it to soft-off. Will have to see how that goes for a while. I'll post up with any results.
Wonder if anyone can help?
I've got a bit of an odd problem with my newly built PC.
Most of the time (but not every time) I shut it down it only powers off for a split second and then restarts. It's important to note this is different than restarting the machine as the power does actually...
Cool - thanks again. My PSU is 480W so should be OK and it has one fully sheilded cable ending in a 4 PIN thats off it's own rail so that should be perfect.
Cheers, I was looking at that card, does seem good. My PSU doesn't have a 6pin but I see the card actually comes with a converter from a 4 pin molex (not exactly the same I know but if the card itself comes with it you would think it would be OK?).
Hey,
Thanks for your reply (even though it's not what I wanted to hear :)
It's not really cost that's the issue it's that I want a quiet (or silent) card. I take it you would say the same roughly about this card then:

Hi,
After some opinions. I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have two GeForce 8600 GTs (SLi) but my motherboard only support SLi at PCI-E 8X:

I am thinking of upgrading to a single GeForce 9800 GT...
That's quality info - thanks very much. I knew they had mounts for walls but never thought you could get a desk stand that would attach. I'll post up if I buy one with a review in case anyone else is interested.
Hi - thanks for your replies. I think I am sold on the HDTV idea but I can't seem to find one that has a tiltable stand (i.e. they are always going to sit 90 degrees to the desk). Does anyone know of one?
Are there any disadvantages to using a HDTV as opposed to a normal computer monitor...
Hi,
800X600 is too large rally. 1024X768 on a 19-21" is OK.
This HDTV options in intriguing. So are you saying that scaling isn't a problem then? If so that's definetly an option.
Why does the scaling not affect the HDTVs but does high res monitors?
I don't suppose any monitors have...
Im still using an old CRT monitor and would really like to upgrade to a large LCD. The problem I face is that because I have poor eye sight I like to run at a lower screen resolution than the native screen res of most LCDs. When you drop them down to a lower res things start to go blocky...
I may be missing something here but from your info it would appear the main problem is the MBoard not seeing your HDD?
Check which SATA port you are plugging into - some motherboards have two controllers and one can sometimes be disabled. I would say get your HDD recognised in BIOS before you...
Well as Haste says then why don't you get the 1066 RAM and try running it at 1066. If it doesn't work it will run at 800MHz and you may be able to get the 800MHz CAS timings out of it anyway.
I have heard of manufacturers limiting the clock speed of CPUs and labelling them up at something...
I looked into this myself I have an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe and am using an Athlon 64 X2. With my motherboard (and I think this may be the case with all) you only get the benefit of the 1066MHz RAM if you are using a Phenom processor. With an X2 it will run at 800MHz. So unless you plan on upgrading...
I recently went to upgrade the memory in my Laptop (Acer Travelmate 75110). Before replacing the memory I ran CPUz to see what was in there and was surprised to see PC5400 (266MHz) installed when according to specs the laptop can take PC6400 (400MHz).
I've now replaced the two 512MB sticks...
Hi - thanks for your reply. Very informative.
I forgot to mention I have the timings of the memory set to 4-4-4-12 as these are the optimal timings actually printed on both types of stick. The system seems to be running fine like this at the moment but I can't seem to find a way of...
Hi,
I've had some new RAM for Christmas but have a couple of questions if anyone would mind having a look?
Question 1
I already had 2GB of RAM in my PC and have inserted a further 2GB. My BIOS picks up the whole 4GB but Windows (XP SP3) is only showing 3.25. I know Windws will never...
Thanks for the quick responses - here is the screenshot:
The sudden drop is where Winamp change tracks BTW.
I know what you mean Ockie but I would have expected it to be faster than this though?
There is a jumper on the back set to pins 3-4. I have read that this HDD shouldn't have...
Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help me. I have a SATA-II HDD and my MB is SATA-II compatible. In Device manager the drive does seem to get picked up as SATA-II 3Gbps but it's not actually performing to that spec according to the built-in speed test.
Now I don't expect to get 3Gbps but come...
If your running Windows xp I would expect the driver to automatically install but there may be. Acer are quite good for providing driver disks so check the disks that came with your laptop.
Also try going into the BIOS and checking if there is a setting to turn the card reader on . off.
Tried resetting CMOS?
Try booting it without things plugged in (remove everything that isn't core system first). If that doesn't work perhaps try booting without any RAM installed (daft I know but at least you might get a beep out of it and know it's your RAM or something).
I brought a standard Lian Li case (with a window) and did a few mods myself:

I went for the Zalman "Resorator" water cooling solution. Although I have a socket AM2 board you can use the same block it's a "ZM-WB4 Gold". My AMD dual core 64 is...
Does anyone know much about this "ASUS O.C. profile" feature on new ASUS motherboards?
From what I have read by googling it's just a way of saving your BIOS settings to disk but if that's the case why can I set the overclocking of my CPU to "Overclock profile" as surly this is then the same...
Thanks for the idea valve1138. I tried it but unfortunately it didn't work. Out of curiosity I tried something else which seems to have worked.
My soundcard can output 48KHz and 96KHz through S/PDIF output. This defaults to 96 but when I changed it to 48 My sub kicked in. I suppose my amp...
I have recently connected my PC to my home theater system downstairs. I have the GCard plugged into the TV with a DVI - HDMI cable and it works fine (apart from minor resolution issues).
The sound however is proving to be a bit of a problem. I have the digital out (coax) connected to my amp...
I've got this working so I thought I would post it up to help anyone with the same problem in the future.
I updated my BIOS and the drivers for the network card to the latest versions from the ASUS web site. I then changed the following configuration items in the network card properties...
Hi,
Can anyone help me? I have a desktop PC and a laptop and I want to be able to turn on the desktop PC from the laptop remotely. I have got this to work after a while by turning on an option on the network card properties in Windows. The setting I have turned on is:
In device manager -...
