1000w+ is good, I have a 1000w silverstone that does 1100 peak and 85 amps, and I can still get it to shut down if I push 1.5v vcore & 1.3v/1.7v to my 3x 7950's. If I need to bench, I'd wish i had 1250-1500watts.

Dominator 2400/3000
Seasonic/corsair/Silverstone 1000w+

I'd go with the 3970X or 3960X and a high end ASUS or...
 6th fastest GTX 680 SLI score on the world record chart. 52nd overall behind all the 7970s

You cant go wrong with a 680 or 7970.
Performance will end up the same. 7970 still holds the quad-gpu world record in benchmarks, while 680 performs consistently better in 1080P in all games.
7970 allows overvoltage of memory and gpu, 680 doesnt, but even so when you boost the 680's clock...
To the FXAA detractors, their opinion doesn't matter to developers, since FXAA will be in all future games anyway. If you don't like it, turn it off and force older AAs.
Not that I recommend more than one gpu, because I don't... I recommend a 7970 or 680 but consider the 690. The 680 sli could give you higher clocks and better cooling, but check out frame time distribution. Please avoid having multiple gpus at all costs if you enjoy smooth gaming. But the OP...
Yeah im saying test all 3, each one at a time in the case and see which one clocks the best...
Which one will do say...
1280/1850 at 1300mv/1700mv at 95% fan without causing driver freezes or artifacts
Test all 3, and consider keeping the best clocking one, or go with a 680.
All multi-gpu sucks, but If you must have multiple gpus, Id get a 690 for the standardized driver and frame time distribution tricks that mask microstutter, plus it has insane raw power equal to 680 sli
If you were to go single, I'd go for a single 7970 or single 680. Why not take all 3 of...
You would have lower fps, but that isn't the only thing that matters.
I would rather have the single gpu instead of two 6950's. You should really be looking at a GTX680 or HD7970 with the intent of overclocking.
I'm an AMD/ATI fan and I'll tell you this straight up, they aren't going to make it easy for you. If you want good compatibility go with Nvidia. You might have a little more luck not getting BSOD's.
I have an HD6850 right now, but in the past i've had a dozen ati cards and nvidia cards...
Ivy's definitely not ready for Primetime Overclocking. Tis a great chip for beginners though. Funny, at the same time its a great chip for the Xtreme fellas too.
NV obviously culling tree branch entity mesh for performance. AMD either too stupid/lazy to care about doing the same thing for some boost in fps. I could care less about branches, I like the NV approach.
