Hello friends,
can you pls recommend aftermarket cooler for this card? Im little bit worried with the lenght of that plate covering ports - i suspect it will prevent using some huge coolers. Any insights are greatly appreciated.
I decided to go with Asus P9X79 Pro, but have another question - I want for cooling Noctua NH-D14, so I need low profile heatsinks on rams and all available quad channell 64gb sets (8pcs x 8gb) are tall, so I am considering to get 2x 32gb(4pcs x 8gb) low profile sets, but dunno if there wouldn't...
Thank you for your reply, those Crucial's are available in my country, I have also these at vendor:

Hello friends,
I dunno in which subforum to post my question, so please excuse me in this :) I am upgrading after 5 years (current rig in sig), and going to buy 3930k, but need advice which ram and mobo to buy (just these components, since I will be using remaining stuff from the old rig)...
Btw, personally - the subjective feeling of coating is dramatically affected by the ambient lighting. And that is a matter of preference - matte for bright ambient lighting and glass/glossy for low ambient - or vice versa - per the person preference - so I don`t think that the one way and no the...
I basically have preferences for coating - it has to be somewhere in between the "glass" Opticlear coating of 20WGX2 and matte 2490WUXi1. Basically that Samsung should be in between.
Btw - my brother recently bought Dell U2412M, and quite like it in regards of the coating (me too).
...just walking around and thinking....don`t to argue about the coating types, everyone have their own preferences, some like - some dont, for me the monitor must be well ballanced in every aspect - for example even the power supply needs to be quiet and not whinning if the brightness is...
In the meanwhile, I figured, that it is perhaps not possible to use the PA241W stand on 2490WUXi, because it has 2 bottom holes for mounting insted of one ( marked as red line, on 2490WUXi). Could anybody who has the PA241W verify if it has really the two bottom mounting holes ?
Hi there,
it`s possible to buy only the stand from NEC PA241W ? I want it for my 2490WUXi1, cause the stand from P241W imho looks better. I know it`s silly question, but ...
Thanks for tips
Nope, backlight bleeding is visual artefact caused by improperly used/mastered technology for backlight in LCDs - the main effect of it is backlight bleeding and minor side effect is low static contrast.
It maybe typo, or the XBIT got finer sample and the retail ones have really 1000:1 DCR - in that case it could be really DCR. It is also not a rule that DCR must be ten-to-hundreds times more than SCR ( remember f.e. NEC 20WGX2 ? and plenty more ... )
Hello,
dunno if it was mentioned before, but at official product webpage for S27A850 is listed only DYNAMIC contrast ratio of 1000:1 (other monitors have listed both dynamic and static CR ) - based on information so far, it maybe pretty much real/official fact that the static CR is very poor...
Snowdog, check this Samsung's Product Selection Guide 1H / 2011
AFAIK, 24" will be ready with its 27" brother and will share same tech/equipment, but its product labeling is uknown, only the panel PN is known ( LTM240CL01 ). Based on mentioned guide & local Samsung rep, the april/may release...
If you mean the one in pivot mode, it seems so. But consider that the environment is brightly lit, so, it's not worht of interest, beacuse any crappy screen in such lit environment will have "good blacks".
Do you realize that these photos are from exposition? So it is 100% for sure that the pictures shown on these panels won't be accurate by any means, because of lighting conditions of that exposition booth, different ISO whitepoint of photos than your viewing device, etc etc. We need to wait for...
Hello folks, it appears that the discussion has gone in very different direction :) , however, here are fresh new hi-res photos of SA850 that clearly shows :
- display port ( I was wrong earlier )
- brushed alluminium only for bottom edge of front bezel for controls panel, everything else is...
Update:
According the official Samsung branch here in Slovakia, after I asked them - when the new S27A850 (PN for SA850) will be at stores, which was presented at Samsung Forum 2011 in Hungary ( Slovakia's neighbour state ), they replied :
So, I assume, that maybe in Hungary, they will...
Yes, I said it has official( or real if you want) 700:1. But the ever lame DR ( or the "DVM mode" ) was much better than in the 20wgx2 competitors. And imho - its glossy coating created impressive optical illusion of deeper blacks with activated DR at every lighting condition except the totally...
Thats right, the 16:9 24" 1920x1080 of EW2420 is just bad, with density of 8428 pixels / sq. inch, or pixel pitch of 0.2767. I personally wont go lower than pp 0.2692 of 16:10 24", which is just 5% difference than 16:9 equivalent, but for sure it is looking much better. For me the best pixel...
Snowdog, thats for sure :) But I have yet some belief, that this SA850 maybe the case as was NEC 20WGX2, do you remember ? It has official 700:1 CR and with its propetiary "DVM mode" it was supposed to have 1400:1 (after calibration on mine it has ~1200:1 with DVM ) BUT, it was mainly achieved...
this is my hypothesis : every glossy coating improves color perception to human eye (of course only with the proper surround lighting) and it somewhat improves significantly the black levels(also only at good surrounding lighting), so Samsung realizes that and makes hybrid - semiglossy coating...
I dont think so, judging from this picture: http://www.computerbase.de/bildstrecke/32560/15/, it seems that it has hdmi/dp , but after second thought - it is for sure the usb upstream connector ...

ADD: the design looks damn good
@BrePu : The NEC is using LG displays too ( 2490WUXi has LG LM240wu1(sl)(a1) panel ), but the `crappy` thing is not the panel, but the all other things (electronic, backlight, panel coating) which makes the overall feeling bad in nowadays xIPS monitors. For example: monitor equipped with...
Hello,
I won't switch ( die hard NEC user ), I`ll expand desktop, cause I need some additional decent monitor with larger res than 1920x1200. Man, I would love to have additional 27" NEC PA, but budget prevents me from doing so.
I`m absolutely satisfied with NEC 2490WUXi1, but this SA850 is very tempting... ( I doubt it will match 2490wuxi1 in color reproduction and PQ, but we will see, hope soon ). If it live up to the hype & will have HW callibration ( ok, it will have not, but... ), then I`m definitely sold.
