Received my 5090 FE from Nvidia last Friday and got around to installing it this morning. It's definitely a slick piece of hardware. It would not output a recognizable signal via HDMI to my LG B4 display, but would to my old Dell 24" Ultrasharp. I updated drivers and then it worked on my LG...
Just got home from running errands; received the email 24 minutes before logging in and joining the queue. Had 288 people ahead of me with an estimate of 24 minutes. Now down to 210 people at 15 minutes...keeping my fingers crossed!
I have to wonder if that's also partially explained by the fact that if someone is willing to pay $2,000 for a gpu, then they'll also likely pay $3,000 for the gpu. But, $550 is already a lot of money to many people, who simply can't afford another $200 on top of that. The 5090 and 5070 are...
Apparently better availability than Nvidia meant the msrp cards stayed in stock for 2-3 minutes instead of selling out instantly! It'll be interesting to watch how long the higher-priced models last...
Best Buy now has their 9070s and 9070XTs listed; they are all coming soon. There is one MSRP model of each, and it appears MSRP will be available today only.
I signed up for their emails and got a 10% off coupon. Left them in my cart overnight and they sent me a 15% off coupon so the pair of 8TB SSDs was $866. This should cover my storage needs for the next 3-4 years.
Not much of a selection - Samsung has an 8TB SATA QVO that uses QLC, and there are a few rando Corsair, Team, Inland, etc. 8TB NVMes that have always been quite a bit more than the SN850X, which hit $550 in H2 2024. AFAIK the SN850X (and SN850P) are the only non-rebadged dubious quality TLC 8TB...
For the 9070 XT, 1% lows for Space Marine 2 at 4K Ultra are at 65fps, which puts it between the 4080 Super and 7900 XTX. Seems like a legit 4K card. Can't wait to see its real-world pricing.
You just defined 99% of YouTube!
I'm glad our work lab of 16 3090s still does what I need it to do in a more than acceptable timeframe. And that my 4090 still does everything I need it to do and more.
Looking forward to the RTX 6090, or even the 7090. Maybe by the time the 7090 comes around...
Yeah, it was frequently available through much of 2023. Not walk in and grab it off the shelf or order it whenever easy, but it definitely did not require using any trackers for most of the year.
Don't be haters:
"35% more performance with 25% higher power draw"
Nice, spares me the aggravation of battling scalper bots for a FE on Best Buy's janky website. I'll happily spend those two grand on a vacation instead. Looks like the 4090 might be the best longer-term value GPU since the 10i80 Ti.
Sure, but what are they going to do about it? If I can't get a 5090 for $2,000, I'll grumble, then pay $2,200 for a 5090. (Pending performance numbers when we get them - might not be worth upgrading from my 4090.)
Only way I see Nvidia keeping AIB partners is for lower-end parts with lower...
Their marketing department and it seems their entire graphics division.
How tf is AMD's CPU branch able to perform so much better than its GPU branch? Or is it that Nvidia really is a juggernaut while Intel is a dying husk of its former self?
I think I see an A7N8X-E Deluxe - that was the board I paired with an Athlon XP 2500+, which was my first build.
I agree with the consensus view thus far: each of the major manufacturers has released excellent boards, and each of the major manufacturers has released lemons. IME, buying better...
Not an expert in any of this GPU technology, but how accurate is my thinking that we're basically at the inflection point where rasterization has kinda hit the wall in terms of its development, and DLSS 4/MFG is just now becoming a somewhat/vaguely adequate replacement - which is highlighted by...
I'm curious if the 5080 will outperform the 4090 in 4K gaming at lower power draw. Also interested in seeing how much juice the 5090 sucks. I would not be surprised if the 5090 FE goes up in price $200 to $1,800, with AIB partners charging $2,000+ for their models - and the 5080 FE goes up $100...
