    SSD unusual wear

basically I have two 860's in raid for a few years channel zero is down to 3% with almost 50K channel one is at 48%, same hours raid 1 they should have the same writes thus the same wear something is goofy SSD's are cheap so replacing it not an issue, just curious why this would happen I...

2024 Was the Year the Bottom Fell Out of the Games Industry

I buy a game I don't want DRM BS, I don't want to sign up to some online check system, I want to own it, install it and play it, that is one of the reasons GOG exists but they are limited in what games they can offer, generally older games no longer popular this is why back in the day hackers...

upgraded older I5 to I7, wow that is interesting

oddly the i3 in it now runs at 3.9 and is snappy for just browsing the net, I did find plenty of flagship chips for sale at a decent price. one I am using now is like a old friend, all my music files, built in sound blaster through a 5.1, rock solid stable If everything loads up instantly I...

i5-4570 to I7-4790K for 50 bucks. i5 is not weak but websites load instantly, everything seems to run more smooth, build is in my sig, yep still rocking a 10 year old build and it does all I need it to, I have a newer build but it's sorta just a backup

    mushkin redline

Only one XMP profile, bump from 1600 to 1866 but you can bump even further but it won't auto, you would need to adjust timings yourself of even the voltage how much can you push these? from what I read back in the day they used highly binned micron chips honestly everything is very fast and...

upgraded older I5 to I7, wow that is interesting

base went from up 800 and turbo 900 but what is interesting is streaming youtube or a TV show the I5 would be working hard running turbo, i7 it's not even breaking a sweat, both the GPU did not seem to factor in, ran at around 5% fresh arctic silver idles at 85F just like the I5 as expected so...

    crucial SSD refresh?

Micron G9 NAND delivers the industry’s fastest NAND I/O transfer rate, 3.6 gigabytes per second (GB/s), they should have a refresh out in the spring, my guess they will call it the MX550 or maybe 600

    860 failing early

    860 failing early

I tried command prompt it does nothing, it's not available apparently when in a raid array I will say in raid 1 my reads are over 1000, write slow down to 350 instead of 500 not in raid if both drives gets the same writes why is my O drive only at 56%, that is what makes no sense

    gwent online

it does not appear they are spending any time or coin on updating this game anymore. they have some small seasonal updates but that is it I have flipped this game 7x, maxed out all trees it's still fun but without any new challenges it's somewhat pointless thoughts?

    860 failing early

the system is in raid 1 so you can't run trim with windows but as I read this drive has it's own garbage collection this is sata 1 so not the main drive in a sense but the copy drive, seems unusual I could break up the intel raid and not lose anything and then trim it but not sure what would...

    The Witcher IV

witcher 3 was an awesome game, one of my favorites so I would certainly buy it from GOG, get rid of all those checks like starforce back in the day and I would say if it's being worked on now sometime in 2026, they will try to fast track it

TSMC’s Founder Slams Intel’s Business Strategy, Says That They Shouldn’t Have Entered The Chip Business

    crucial SSD refresh?

hopefully not but they have a new 256 layer nand flash, it won't be any faster for sata but consume less power and be like a paperweight. this allows them to have room for some buffer ram. I'd rather buy a crucial than give money to samsung, both are practically equal bench wise

    crucial SSD refresh?

Intel B560 is a Disaster: Huge CPU Performance Differences and a Power Limit Mess

Intel B560 is a Disaster: Huge CPU Performance Differences and a Power Limit Mess

Intel B560 is a Disaster: Huge CPU Performance Differences and a Power Limit Mess
