OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Sure, that's why I told him to use the terminal, there always is a possibility that his napp-it install is not working properly. What I said is just an alternate way to try fixing his problems.

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

If you create a user called paul as suggested don't forget to enable it with smb. On a terminal on the server, as root, issue the command: # smbadm enable-user paul <ENTER> then, # passwd paul <ENTER> After setting paul's password chown paul /QMEDIA1/MEDIA1, and chmod 777...

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Try changing ownership to the Windows admin user, open a terminal on server (not on napp-it), become root (su <ENTER, then password) type: # chown <win admin name> /Qmedia1/Media1 Type cat /etc/pam.conf and check if it has the line (usually the last one): other password required...

Another Help me decide on ZFS, ESXi hardware thread

THANKS! I've made that mistake in the past and had it bite me... I think I will go with something like this: Crucial CT2KIT51272BA1339 8GB for now until the 8gb dimms are more readily available. If you look at the i5-2400 specs on Intel site you see that the processor DOESN'T accept ECC memory.

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Radical measure! If you haven't disassembled your server yet you could try cleaning your controller contacts using an pencil eraser. Gently rub them on a 90 degree angle with the contacts direction to prevent ripping them off. Then install the controller and see the results. Be aware that this...

OpenZFS NAS (BSD, Illumos, Linux, OSX, Solaris, Windows + Storage Spaces) with napp-it web-gui

Hummmmm, looks like poor contact. Before ordering new cables you could try using a spray contact cleaner.
