I almost grabbed one of those on eBay last month but I can't remember why I didn't. I ended up going ATI but for some reason the 6800 series was always most interesting to me
30 hours would be pushing my solution for sure. I run all my networking on UPS's, and could charge up devices in the car if needed. Also have a Bluetti 716wh power station. But I think that'd all be dead in 30 hours. About 10 years ago we were without power for a few days in a winter storm and I...
I have a couple 1TB usb drives that are pretty fast. I load them up with videos when I take a trip. Used to have to bring a hard drive, now it fits on my keychain.
any time I camped out it was for fun and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't hesitate to camp out at best buy from midnight to 5am again with friends. However, this time of year in new england, I will not be doing so. It's an interesting experience though if you haven't done it.
In case the x800xt aiw didn't work out, I picked this up as well. I do plan on using the aiw video input functionality though so hopefully this is not necessary.
My gigabyte boards have been surprisingly trouble free over the years. I say surprisingly because several were the cheapest model available for the socket matx board. Probably had about 5 over 10 years wirhout issue.
I'd 3d print a square sleeve just big enough to fit around the perimeter of the cpu snuggly, and put that over the cpu and use that to rotate the cpu. With the sleeve that fits well, you could even use a set of channel locks or something on the outside of the sleeve without worrying about...
I thought that was the flux capacitor? Sorry I read that in Doc Brown's voice.
I really wish some AIBs would take note that we want a card that looks and feels like an FE for near FE prices. We do not want 5 slot cards. Given the size of the FE PCB, I think we need to see some creativity on the...
honestly they are the highest quality radiators I've laid my hands on. They are a work of art. I'm pretty much done with custom water cooling though and just got them to compare how 120vs240vs360mm rads perform for curiosity. Never ended up doing the test and have a watercooling test bench with...
the Minisforum ITX boards with soldered CPUs do not come with RAM or storage. The BD790i SE does not come with a wifi module, while the BD790i non-SE and AR900i do come with wifi and antennas. They use laptop ram and the 2 ram kits I am selling are compatible. Bump!
No beige here. Being a 2005ish era build going for a little more modern look. Back then I had a couple chieftec dragons. I almost went with another, but I found a different chieftec case that is a little more professional looking which I think goes with the dual opteron nicely as a workstation...
Working on an agp opteron dually soon. Have a bunch of old gpus but most are pcie so I have a new agp gpu coming hopefully next week. I got my case for the build yesterday so I'll post it up when I unbox it. Do you guys think running wraith prisms would look out of place or a subtle touch to an...
Someone might want to use it on a board that doesn't support ocing or custom timings. It was a mistake on the sellers part even if accidental. While I don't think the difference is enough to complain about, in real world it is of little consequence, if the buyer wanted to return it I'd say...
Thank you for all the help everyone! I think I have now secured a clean iso. After playing with xp, I think i will try to get windows 10 running on it for regular use for security reasons. Parts are starting to roll in!
I am putting together a retro PC from the XP era and haven't used XP in at least 10 years. I have since tossed all my OS discs, but also know XP is insecure to use now. I heard you can install an unofficial SP4 to get it much safer though. Anyway, where is a legit/"safe" place to get an XP...
No regrets getting an A1 Mini here, but I do have another printer for larger stuff. 9 times out of 10 I'm sending prints to the A1 Mini though. Gone through 1.5 spools of PETG in the past 24 hours.
Anyone have any agp graphics cards? Not expecting anything amazing for free, but I need one to test some old parts for an accidental retro build(woops!) and I haven't secured a gpu yet. Much appreciated!
heatware under mnewxcvheatware, ebay feedback here. *YOU* must also have verified feedback. (((I have 2FA enabled))) Items are used. Prices are PP F&F. Shipped prices are US48. Make an offer!
Willing to offer big bundle savings! Got an eye on a new project so everything must go! I will have...
I'm messing with the smaller llama 3.1 8B right now. Fits a bunch of different cards. I am going to see how 3.3 70B runs on CPU once I add some system memory as well. Hoping it is somewhat usable with a 16 core ryzen.
Well I went a little nuts in trying to find the best board for my application. I now own a BD790i(7945HX), BD790i SE(7940HX), and AR900i (13900HX). I will be testing them all to find the best one for my use case, and maybe using the others for some secondary PCs or throwing in the FS/T forum...
I mean noise is a real thing in raytracing. You can trade performance for quality but these are games not overnight renders. I haven't been distracted enough by in game noise to make me not enjoy it.
I think 2.5gbe would be fine as that should be about 300mb/s, and I haven't had issues editing off of a local hard drive which is slower than that. I would definitely consider 10g in the future, but the cost to overhaul the network isn't something I'm ready for, and I already have 2.5gbe...
