Links in my previous post, though it was not the original article I read (because I remember the picture used).
It was a LONG time ago, when Google was still rocketing post-IPO.
The gist of it, iirc, was not that enterprise drives weren't better but that they weren't better given the cost...
There was an article detailing Google's tech infrastructure, and how they used consummer-grade hard drives for storage (raided of course) because they didn't detect any significant price/performance advantage to go enterprise.
Edit: I think it's this...
Copied and kept in a txt file:
Right now I'm in Preset > Custom Color with Red>96, Green>93, and Blue>87 @ brightness of 45 and contrast of 75.
This seems to match the white up to my NEC and the rest of the colors look decent as well, just looking at test images.
Imo you'd be better "balanced" if you have 1x 6950 and less of a penny-pinching monitor.
I'm not saying that 400$ is too little. I'm just saying that you need to loosen up the budget limit on the monitor requirement, because I don't see how 2 6950s will get "pushed" much with a 24/27" monitor.
Where? Can you post the url?
Edit: Doh, can't believe I missed this deal :(
Oh well, I already have the 2007WFP which has the same resolution, but damn :(
Anyone played Starcraft 2 on the latest drivers with the hotfix?
When I'm protoss, the area of effect of pylons appear on the low ground, thus invisible whenever I'm on high ground
I rotated the ram, only to find out that I probably mis-inserted one of the chips (though how did Windows see it?)
I couldn't easily access the HSF, and it being the U12P, there's a bunch of screws to unfit.
So far it's showing 8gb, hope it remains that way.
Thanks anyways though! I...
Sorry if this has been addressed, but I did a search and couldn't find it.
Basically, we are 2 people playing sc2 in this house and I just finished building my new comp. Are there any router and/or game settings I need to do to be able to play together? (AT)
Thanks in advance
Has anything been found on this?
I just set up a new PC, with 2x4GB ripjaws, but see 8gb (4 usable) in win7. I have basically the same problem as the OP (aside from the # of sticks)
You're forgetting one factor though: Price.
If the 460 1gb underperforms a 6850 for the same price, but can match it with an overclock, why not just get a 6850 in the first place? That's my argument.
And yes, I am looking at 6850/GTX460 1GB price range. I want to limit myself to a ~200$ card.
I'm not saying that you can run SC2 with a 2mb vga graphics card from the Pentium 1 era. I'm saying that the CPU can bottleneck SC2 a lot faster than it would an FPS game.

Indeed, SC2 is known to tax the CPU (being a strategy game and all) more than the GPU (who are more taxed by the FPS genre)
If SC2 is the only game you want, then I'd suggest going for something less than a GTX460 1gb and spend the spare cash on a CPU upgrade.
