    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

I'm still rocking a 3007WFP. One of my best purchases ever, even though the price seemed crazy at the time. Having 2560x1600 30" when everybody else was still on single 19" 1920x1080 monitors was a massive productivity win. It's crazy that a computer component has lasted me over 15 years...

Where are you in Canada? I have a 10 year old 3007WFP you might be able to have for considerably less than $500. I'm in Ottawa. I've been looking to upgrade for years. The $2000 I spent on that 3007WFP was one of the best purchases I ever made, but what to purchase in 2016 is not nearly...

    Multi-monitor 4K big-screen set ups

That is the point. Large screens are for more windows.

HDMI vs. DP - is there a why?

IIRC, HDMI came first. DP was created primarily because the licensing fees for HDMI were too onerous. A secondary reason was that the HDMI consortium was dominated by consumer electronics firms, so PC makers had problems getting their needs addressed.

    New Samsung 4k for everyone.

PWM reduces blur. This TV uses backlight strobing to reduce blur in some modes. (See the review linked somewhere in this thread). That's why some minimal PWM artifacts are seen even at full brightness. Perhaps somebody with a TV can figure out a way to turn off the backlight strobing and...

    New Samsung 4k for everyone.

Of course we're moving our head. That's the point. You tile all your windows and focus on one at a time. And then instead of hitting alt-tab your move your eyes or your head. Way faster, but more importantly, it's instinctual and natural. The rest of your windows are in your peripheral...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

My reading of that thread led me to the opposite conclusion. Reports are that the PWM on that Samsung TV is 120Hz, and that there is still PWM even at full brightness.

    Seiki Pro SM40UNP 40"/ SM32UNP 30"4K LED Monitors

It may be a high resolution, but it's still a low DPI monitor, so jaggies will be fairly visible without AA. I'd prefer to lower other settings than turn off AA.

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

IIRC, non-square pixel elements pack more tightly. The three RGB pixels aren't necessarily the same size, so fitting them into a perfect square while still minimizing dead space is difficult. By making them fit into something that's almost but not quite a square, they're increasing...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

As far as I'm concerned, no stock is a good thing. Hopefully that means that they're flying off the shelf, other companies will see the demand and we'll get some other options for similar monitors soon -- PWM is a deal-breaker for me; I'm definitely sensitive.

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Everybody is different, but I'm fairly confident that 240Hz flicker on an LED backlight will be considerably worse than 150Hz flicker on CCFL.

elleana's rMBP does not support 60Hz, it only has Thunderbolt 1, not Thunderbold 2 http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1041270017&highlight=2012#post1041270017

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Thanks for the stand pictures, MrGrumpie! Is the arm at the bottom of it's travel range? If not, how much can it be raised? There's 5" of travel according to the ergotron web site, I'm just wondering if we get the full 5 inches. It would be nice to have a bit more travel than the 3.5" I...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

It appears that the stand is fixed, with no adjustment, correct? Can somebody recommend a good stand to use with this monitor? Preferably one with vertical adjustment so that we can lower it enough so that it (almost) touches the desk, and then easily raise it a few inches. I plan on...
