Reviving this thread to report that I am seeing image retention since a few months ago.
The below photos were taken tonight with less than one hour between and as you can see it's retention of two different pages, first one is YouTube the other is a page with image galleries.
It's noticeable on...
I could not find any thread about this when I searched but if this been mentioned already then I'm sorry.
Acer will release a new monitor in November.

I can happily report that the 3 feet AmazonBasics cable seems to have solved the issue, maybe a bit too early to celebrate but so far after a few restarts the monitor showed picture every time.
So maybe it is pin 20 on those non compliant cables creating issues. This cable is cheap and good...
Palit GTX 1070 JetStream, but the thing is that I experienced the same issue when I had a AMD card and I experienced the issue on all 4K monitors that I owned and that's 3 of them including this one. I have had different PCs during these years, with Z87 and Z107 chipset so it's also not anything...
OMG, the solution solution is found and it's so simple, just setting DDC/CI to OFF. I had it in front of me all these years,.
Maybe this also solves the windows resizing problem in Windows when monitor is turned off and back on.
Edit: Forget what I wrote, it doesn't work. After...
I have had a issue with all 4K monitors that I owned and it's driving me a bit nuts so I wanted to see if somebody has a solution.
When I cold boot the PC the monitor shows picture during POST so I can enter the BIOS or see the boot menu.
But 99% of the time when I restart PC the monitor does...
He want's to use it as a "retina display" to get sharp nice looking text and he thinks that 24" inch is the best choice since 1080p displays are usually that size.
Why not just go for 32", text will not look much less sharp then on a 24" at 200% scaling, and you get the choice of using 150%...
Don't be silly. He can use 4K res with scaling on the desktop and have whatever resolution he wants in game if the game does not run smooth at 4K.
Scaling makes the text large so he shall be able to see it even at distance. There is no reason at all to use 1080p for the desktop unless he has a...
I only had it connected to the PC for 5 hours and during that time I did not notice any screen stutter. Didn't try 1080p @ 120Hz but I am also not sure what "faint transient background streaks" is, can you show some example? Gonna test CSGO next week at 120Hz and I will report if I notice any...
No no, this one is IPS, I would have noticed if it was VA.
So far I am happy with it but I currently use it to watch TV cuz the picture quality is much better then my old TV, but I will maybe connect it to the PC again next week.
I hope I don't start seeing any blobs on the screen.
I bought a Sony KD-43XD8305, which is a EU only model and successor to last years Sony X830C US model.
43" (42.5")
4K @ 4:4:4
1080p @ 120Hz
IPS
HDR
10bit (8 + FRC)
Flicker Free
I love it so far, I don't see any dead or stuck pixels, there is not that much IPS glow, seems to be even less...
I think the Sony XBR43X800D might be better then Samsung. Sony seems to use DC instead of PWM and has ca 33 ms input lag but I am not sure how suitable it is for web development and photo editing, it seems to be a 10bit panel with 96% DCI-P3 color space coverage.
Yes get a 32 inch. They don't have so much issues and at 150% scaling it will be a working res of 2560x1440 while you will have nice looking sharp enlarged fonts.
I thought this will use BGR subpixel layout but maybe it will be RGB after all. Some Japanese guy suspected it will be RGBW so he mailed some Japanese company and asked.
PHILIPSの新型4Kディスプレイ「BDM4350UC/11」は「買い」なのか? - 力こそパワー
Why not wait for the 43" Philips monitor, it will be PWM free and in between the size you are looking for but maybe you don't want a flat screen. 48" is a bit too large for the desk, you have to turn your head a lot which is uncomfortable and can give you pain, with the 40" you can have it at...
You should really wait to see if the Philips will turn out good. One negative thing about the Philips is that it will most likely have BGR subpixel layout instead of RGB just like BDM4065UC, because I suspect this will use the same panel as the Crossover 434K and that one is BGR. I really...
I am not sure about senor, haven't used it but I sit a lot in front of the PC, 6-12 hours usually and I can say that this monitor is good for the eyes and I don't even use the low blue light mode, just standard.
So you should be fine.
Wow nice.
4K
43"
IPS
PWM-Free
This will be in stores by the end of April in my country but I am not sure if I will be an early adopter, it all depends how much I can get for my current monitor, can't afford to spend much cash.
*Sony X830C* Supports 4k 60Hz @ 4:4:4 with firmware update.

*Sony X850C* Supports 4k 60Hz @ 4:4:4 with firmware update.
They seem able to do 120Hz @ 1080p.
Here is a list of other TV's that can do 4:4:4...
The Wasabi Mango has a issue which I assume the Crossover has too considering it's the same panel. :(

iiyama LE4041UHS-B1 seems to use PWM just like the Philips :(

Read the review linked in first post, it is for the 43" inch but the 49" inch should not be too different. Anyway, this is a better solution then buying a TV.
What about this http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-le4041uhs-b1/
Does it seems like a good monitor? Google does not list any reviews, at least not in English and the few YouTube videos about it, is not in English. Maybe it uses the same panel as the Philips and Seiki?
@ NCX Which ebay seller did you buy it form?

I noticed a weird thing, HiDPI support seems to be better in Windows 7 then Windows 8.
I run Windows 7 at 200% scaling currently, and when I open device manager the text is clear and sharp but when I ran Windows 8/8.1 and used 200% scaling the text in device manager looked blurry. It's not just...
A bit old and some Apps does have HiDPI support now: http://us.hardware.info/reviews/5178/8/hidpi-test-high-resolution-windows-a-complete-nightmare-conclusion
Panasonic TX-43CX740 is in stock now, there is no reviews for it and I doubt that I will buy it because I am sure that is has low PWM like the Samsungs and LGs.
