Welp, it looks like the Ares is gonna sell out before I get my check so I can't do that unless it's still for sale in 3-4 days.
Kind forces my hand but the idea of WCing my cpu with a real setup along with the Ares seemed like a nice mini upgrade.
I have an Rampage IV Extreme so I could do 3x SLI. I also have a 1500w power supply to power them. I'm just worried about the heat of that many, hmm. If I do two 980's in SLI I get true 8GB usable?
Saw that WCing is still ez and swiftech made affordable stuff.
I'll do some more comparisons...
I will be purchasing an LG 34UM95-P monitor and need a video card to drive it as I have a gtx580 classified ultra right now. From my terse research the Sapphire 100360SR and the Asus Ares III Limited Edition seem like the best picks. My only concern is that I just have a Corsair H100 cooler so I...
I want to pick up the LG 34UM95-P but I need a new video card to run it. Figured this would be the best place to ask. Will the Sapphire 100363-4L work? Should I get a beefier card, or run SLI? 60+fps on max settings would be nice for games. I have a gtx580 classified ultra right now so I'd like...
Thank you very much odditory. You cleared everything up for me and told me exactly what I wanted to know. Wish there had been a FAQ as I read that HP SAS thread but wasn't sure if it did what I wanted.
Good to know. I've only started having to move large files around recently and only understand RAID from research not practice.
So. How do I cheaply expand a basic RAID card to many drives? Does the SAS plug just connect directly to another card or backplanes only? Or?
Right now the Adaptec...
My concern with RAID 6 is that it will be slower then RAID 10 when moving large files around from one array to another. But after researching more it looks like the SAS connectors(SFF-8087) were the part I wasn't understanding. I see now how I can use a SFF-8087 to get 4 sata ports from a single...
I would like hardware RAID. I plan on adding a new RAID 10 array (4x1TB) every 2 months or so. So that would be 4 ports for each RAID 10 array correct? The power at my home sucks and so power failure will happen.
I have just been buying new drives as I ran out of space over the years. But now all my SATA ports are full so I'm looking into raid cards that are expandable. It's been a long while since I looked at RAID and their associated cards and the terminology has me a bit confused with things like SAS...
Yeah, I was thinking about WCing the ram. I'm going for a decent OC and figured the extra cooling couldn't hurt. But if there is no need then I wont, thx!
Yeah, the uber one has optical in and out. There is a cheaper one that has the same ports but sound is kind of important for my uses so I'll spring for the extra $40 just in case what I read about different ram was right, lol. I'll look at the velociraptor. I've bought nothing yet. It's just...
This is what I've come up with so far but I still need to decide on a PSU and a cooling method. I really want to do phase change cooling but then I still have to WC everything else. So advice on WC and WC+PC solutions? I've used the Koolance Exos in the past and it developed a stress a crack and...
I want to OC a QX9770 and need a mobo that can handle high ocing. I will be doing phase change cooling as well as water cooling for the bridges and other supplementary components. I have purchased nothing yet though. I will be doing progamming(can I haz faster compilez?) and of course gaming...
ASUS M2NPV-VM
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans
Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) Unbuffered DDR2 800
Zippy psl-6701p (have an extra on hand already)
I'm going to purchase and overclock this setup (figured out cooling in another thread) but just wanted the communities opinion if this is a wise direction or...
It's just a home server and I just don't want it crashing in the middle of a 12hr operation. And as far as wasting money, if I'm ocing wouldn't I need better memory to keep up with the overclock instead of ramsinks? That seems more expensive to me.
Everything I initially wanted was either too...
Ok, I didn't get the repsonse I was hoping for. The swifttech waterblock with the pelt is sold out everywhere anyway. I was hoping for at least a radiator recoomendation oh well. I'll keep reading and just make a choice.
I haven't built a water cooled system in years (I have a nice dangerden kit on an old 427 p4) but it seems like there is only one new big name which is Aqua Computers. I like what sharka has to offer as for as AC parts go and they seem real solid but I'll list the system I'm building first...
I've been looking and can't seem to find a pci or other solution for using my computer to control a group of switches. I know there are pci cards out there where you can just screw/plug in wires on the card and then you tell the card which ones to do what with. I need a lot of switches, like 32.
Found info on how to record HDTV if you have DirecTV, cable STB, or PVR.

I have an a8n-sli board and 2 sticks of corsair xms 3200 1gb. When I boot my system it says "single channel memory" but shouldn't it say dual? I read my manual, looked through my bios, searched the intarwebben, and sifted through countless forum threads. I'm just at a loss at this point on how...
I'm trying to install the onboard sound and I find it interesting that you got yours installed. I installed several ways and everytime it says it can't find the proper driver even when I point it ditectly to where the proper driver is. XP64 is beta for a reason still I guess, I couldn't get sli...
I'm not an oc guy so the 1002 dirvers are fine for my purposes. The only issue I've run into is that I can'tget the audio drivers to install for winxp64 even though they are winxp64 drivers.
