A 4070S is equal to, in some cases faster and with more features, than a 3080Ti. I wouldn't really class the 4070 tier as the lower end of the stack. I'd class the 4060 (non Ti) and below as the lower end of the stack.

The flow of updates: stream or mighty river (comparing distributions for security)

https://store.steampowered.com/about/ Click 'Install Steam' and you'll download a .deb installer, literally every other distro has Steam available via their own software repositories that aren't officially affiliated with Valve's package. Furthermore, it's not just Steam, look at the system...

Regarding the desktop and not handheld devices, I'm 100% sure. It's right here, direct from Valve: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1114-3F74-0B8A-B784 And it's right here direct from Arch devs: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam The fact other distro's are mentioned under the...

For those using a Ubuntu derivative vs Arch...

Realistically speaking, the worst manufacturer in relation to invasive software and forceful 'create an online account' tactics when installing drivers is HP. I hate HP, with an absolute passion.

Most Brother printers are supported out the box, in the case they're not Brother package their drivers as .deb's and they can be installed via the packaged script - I've run numerous Brother printers under Linux and have never had problems with either printing or scanning over a network. What basic stuff cannot be done via the GUI, and what's wrong with CUPS? It seems to work fine for MacOS. Furthermore, Linux Mint provides nothing for the masses that any other packaged distro based on Ubuntu LTS doesn't provide (excluding vanilla Ubuntu LTS due to Canonical's insistence...

The only commands really needed are those associated with your distro's package manager, and I'm unaware of any major changes to such commands making them obsolete. Furthermore, in many cases you don't even need to know the commands re: Your distro's package manager, as a number of software...

DLSS Frame Gen maybe coming to an RTX 3000 series near you

From what I've been reading, I don't see any reason to believe Nvidia won't make DLSS frame gen available to more than just the RTX 40 series onwards. Quite obviously the tech wasn't really tied to anything specific to the RTX 40 series, the RTX 50 series is thus far effectively priced out of...

For those using a Ubuntu derivative vs Arch...

Realistically speaking, any fix for Ubuntu LTS is going to work under any other distro based on Ubuntu LTS considering the only major change is the DE - They're even pulling from the same repo's. The biggest problem Arch devs have with Manjaro, is the fact that Manjaro maintain their own repo...

The driver and the device has to support UASP, Linux supports UASP at kernel level and has for quite some time now. As stated, this is a problem no matter what the OS used, some firmware revisions of USB SSD are blacklisted for reasons no one truly understands beyond the manufacturer.

I use those commands literally all the time, what those commands do simply can't be done via the GUI. Essentially, what you're seeing is advanced OS functions via the CLI - No different to Linux. Most operations under modern Linux distro's and even MacOS can be done via the GUI, it's mostly...

How is that any different to sfc /scannow or DISM / Online / Cleanup Image / CheckHealth, DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth or DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim? Such tools are literally a necessity under Windows where the OS has corrupted (which...

Because I've never had any issues with Ubuntu LTS based distro's, and Arch offers me nothing I need. If you're running Nvidia, distro's based on Ubuntu LTS are actually well suited to Nvidia proprietary drivers - Which are the only drivers worth considering from a performance perspective running...

The flow of updates: stream or mighty river (comparing distributions for security)

I also find LTS releases to be better suited to Nvidia hardware/drivers. I've been running Nvidia hardware for about 8 years now under Linux, and I've experienced very few deal breaker issues. Under an LTS release, Nvidia drivers can be upgraded or downgraded with a simple command resulting in...

It's not abandonware at all, Ubuntu LTS is the only official desktop platform supported by Valve's Steam software - Period. The flow of updates: stream or mighty river (comparing distributions for security)

Security updates are absolutely back ported to LTS releases in a very timely manner, LTS releases simply don't get feature updates. In a nutshell, that's the whole point of LTS releases. Furthermore, Ubuntu LTS releases receive kernel updates every second point release - They aren't stuck on...

The flow of updates: stream or mighty river (comparing distributions for security)

Personally, I wouldn't touch a rolling release OS, and the idea that Ubuntu LTS releases are security risks even though security updates are backported and patched makes no sense whatsoever. Every time there has been a notable security issue under Linux, security updates patching the issue have...

That whole link reads like absolute bullshit. Furthermore, Debian stable is more frozen in time than Ubuntu LTS based distro's - There is a difference, you can't lump both into the same category.

NVIDIA Reveals 80% Adoption of DLSS Among GeForce RTX Gamers - So much for "fake pixels"!

I'm going to honestly state that when I was running my 4k monitor (currently on dual 1200p displays), I struggled to tell the difference between native 4k and DLSS upscaled. As a result, I ran DLSS upscaled for more FPS.
