How important is using the exact same type of RAM when adding more RAM in regards to stability? I've seen some recommendations to match exactly, just to be safe, and others to just make sure both sets of RAM can run stably at the same voltage, frequency and timings.
I currently have this...
I'm upgrading from 4 gigs to 8 gigs of RAM and I've decide to go with the same type of RAM to avoid any potential compatibility problems.
I'm looking for the popular 2x2GB G.Skill DDR2 800 SDRAM with the blue heat spreaders. Model #: F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
This stuff...
That's not the problem. it scales lower resolutions up to full screen fine. When the 720p games run centered its because I had selected a refresh rate that the monitor didn't support going into full screen mode for that resolution. What it does in this case is keeps the desktop resolution and...
I'm having problems running games full screen at 720p resolution using the DVI connection. When I try to go full screen with a game running at 1200x720 (my graphics card can't handle 1920x1080 for some games) the monitor goes blank and displays an "out of range" message. I've tried various...
I'm looking for a laptop to replace my desktop computer. The only hardware intensive computer uses I have now are photo editing of pictures taken with my Nikon D70, recording guitar and vocals, and creating sequenced songs. For photo editing I primarily work with Nikon camera RAW files (~5MB...
I'm clearing out a bunch of stuff I don't use anymore. No reasonable offers refused. I'd prefer to sell the cheaper cooling gear packaged with other stuff, as it won't really be worth shipping some of those individually. Prices negotiable. All prices include shipping (if you are outside the...
Apparently on some of the BIOS' (the one the board I got had), Auto Precharge Write defaults to enable, when it should default to disable. I changed it to disable, and now the problems with the 3D screen savers are fixed. So far, so good. I'll test a game later tonight.
Okay, apparently dual channel on this board is using two differently colored DIMM slots, rather than the two that are the same color like other boards I've used. Anyway, first I tried removing one of the RAM sticks. That made things worse, and the comp locked when I opened the Abit tool...
It is pretty bad when grapnics intensive screen savers come on as well. If this is a RAM timing problem, any recommendations for new timings. I'm at 2.5-3-3-7 atm IIRC. Gonna go try some more stuff now. Thanks for the help so far.
Not sure if this should go in Video Cards, Motherboards, or perhaps General Hardware, but oh well ^^.
Anyway, I'm building a computer for my Dad. Got a 2500+ (retail HSF), Abit NF7-M motherboard (nForce2 IGP chipset), 2x512 PC2700 Corsair Value Select, Antec SLK2650-BQE case (350W PS, 1...
I'd go with this antec over the one you listed in your first post:

It is pretty much the same cept it has Sonata Style HDD mounting. I like it more than the Sonata because it is bigger (and cheaper~).
Are 9100 PROs sold anymore? They aren't listed on pricewatch. Anyway, should I go for a 9100NP 128MB, or a ti4200 64MB. The 4200 is one higher on the list, but it costs more. Is the performance difference large enough to make up for the price difference or not?
You should be fine. My 400W handles 2 Optical Drives, 4 7200RPM HDDs, FDD, 7 high rpm 80/92 mm fans, rheobus, graphics card with powersupply connector thing, sound card, TV card, barton cpu, and a nforce2 motherboard with no power related problems.
That was my point. The 9500s were advertised as 128 even though they were 256, so it was possible the 9800ses were "L" shaped (some people thought they may be the "I" shaped ones because 128 was listed in the specs).
But, IIRC, stores only listed them as 128 (I believe ATi's specs might have also?). So while newegg says the 9800se's are 128, they very well may be 256 if they are the cards pictured.
MX300, 310 or a MouseMan Dual Optical. I don't think dual opticals are made anymore, so I guess that means mx300/310. 310 if you want a thumb button (thumb buttons own mapped to jump~).
I have a 955DF, and I personally don't like it too much. My 17" Sony that I got back in 2000 was way better. I'm not even convinced the screen on the 955DF is flat. It looks like there is a flat glass panel in front of a screen that isn't flat if you look closely. Also, at times my 955DF...
Is there a way to get some sort of SATA > ATA adapter and run 2-4 more ATA hard drives off the SATA ports? Right now I have two ATA optical drives, and two ATA hard drives hooked up, so there is no way for me to connect my other ATA hard drives.
Anyone :P?
I've been looking at the M-Audio Audiophile. Looks pretty good as I would easily be able to run my bookshelf system through it. I'm not sure how I would run my guitar (or a mic for that matter) in through it though.
I'm looking to buy a new sound card. Currently I'm using a SBLive! Value (digital). I do basically everything on my computer, including music, games, DVDs, and recording. I'm mainly concerned with the music and recording quality / features on the card though, as I will be using 2.0 or 2.1...
I have one, and would not buy another. I dislike the 3.5" drive cages. If you have a lot of 3.5" drives it becomes a mess, especially if your MBs IDE slots are close to the drives. I prefer the Lian Li 3.5 cage, the newer Antec 3.5 slots (the ones the SLK3700 BQE linked earlier this thread...
Well the card I'm getting is for a second box. I already have a 9500 soft--> 9700 on my main box, which is where I do my serious gaming. Second box will only be used for things like botting in EQ (and WoW when it comes out, and for boting I don't care about quality, just as long as the games...
