Ok i farted around with the bios until I could see the controller in windows, but no drives were discovered. I don't really want to admit the rest of it 😬 Over an hour spent trouble shooting, and it was the sata leads lacking that final "click" into the board 🤦.
I don't see the bios loading...
I can't get my 1223 8i to boot in a new system. It's worked in everything before.
I've set the bios on the motherboard to csm, pcie devices to legacy not uefi
With the card installed the mb hangs at debug code "pcie initialization started", monitor stays back
In the x4 slot it's just ignored
1223 8i (or newer variants): will they take 16tb drives ok? Probably in a 4 drive raid 5 (yes I know, but I don't expect to rebuild the array if a drive fails, it just need to survive long enough to do an incremental backup. I'm not dealing with terabytes of throughput each week, probably more...
good to know! thanks. I've got a UPS (and a battery on my card), but I usually switch off my system during lightning storms (and unplug everything): I've lost 2 systems to lightning!
Help!
I just set up a new raid 5 in my system. I did it with my old raid 5 physically disconnected in case I did something stupid. I've initiated the raid, but now with the old raid connected again the new raid is showing, but the old one has gone. It's set the new raid up with the same ID...
that 1882i has gone. Doh.
hey does anyone know if you can attach drives with data, and whether they will be passed through to OS without being initialized/wiped?
I've got a 1223 8i on my desktop machine. Bought an adaptec 5805 for my backup computer. Just wanted it really to connect jbod. The problem I've got is that the adaptec doesn't seem to do passthrough. So any drives with existing data will get zilched in the process of adding them.
I'm...
I just expanded my raid set (raid 3 4x8). then went to "modify volume set" and set the volume to 24TB. \
I expected to go to disk management and see unused space on that drive that i could expand the partition into, but didn't. How do I get the OS to see the extra space?
Ah yes that would help: its a 1223 8i. I selected background because I wasn't sure if foreground needed to stay in the firmware console. At that point too, I had no idea it would take so long. So I might just ditch my 2.4 % and start again. Could speed things up by a day!
EDIT: foreground -...
hey folks, just signed up after stumbling on this thread. I'm in the process of setting up a 3x8tb (ironwolf) array. Its doing background initialisation, but set at 80%. Taking about 1.5 hours per percent. Its going to take a week to initialise. is this normal? I'm setting it up as raid-3...
