I got a 280x that was only one month old off of Ebay for 160 shipped. I don't think you can beat that deal. It will play anything at 1080p, either on max or high, especially if you forego anti-aliasing.
bump because I owned one of these in xmas 2000. I had bought an off-the-shelf HP computer with a celeron 700. I got interested in computers and realized I couldn't install an AGP card because this shitty computer didn't have the slot! That made the Geforce 2 impossible. The best PCI video...
Hi, I just upgraded to a 280x and have this 7850 for sale. It comes with retail packaging. The card is this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161406&cm_re=HIS_7850_2GB-_-14-161-406-_-Product
It works. I tested an overclock on it (but didn't run it like this...
I'll take 85 shipped for the 7850. It's a H.I.S. standard 2 GB version, but I know that it will OC to 1ghz on the core if you choose. I didn't run it at that all the time, but it will at least complete benchmarks at 1ghz.
Full retail package, box and everything.
*edit* looks like a...
That's a good deal you got on that card. I just got a 2 month old 280x for 160 shipped on ebay. I was gonna offer to sell you my 7850 to upgrade your 4870 machine, but I guess that's not necessary now. :)
I guess I'll just try it and see what happens. Because of the hardware secrets test, I know that the Rocketfish PSU will shutdown before damaging anything, so I if I get reboots, black screens etc. when gaming, I'll know exactly what it is.
The Rocketfish I got is sort of an anomaly in the...
I would be more comfortable with a single 24 amp 12 volt rail, for sure, but theoretically, this should work as long as I don't overclock. I mean, it can deliever all the power that the card is rated to use (250 between an 8 pin, a 6 pin, and the PCI-E slot).
I think it will work, but I'm pushing the limit. I guess I try it. The review of my PSU said that when they tried to pull more than 500 watts, the PSU just shutdown, it didn't damage anything. If I game on it and it shuts down, then I'll have my answer.

That's the hardware secrets review of my PSU. The video card model is this one:

It's got a...
Hey, I have a 500 watt PSU with two 18 amp 12 volt rails. The PSU does deliver the rated voltage, according to hardware secrets, which is why I bought it. The two rails are split so that one goes to the motherboard through the regular ATX connection (for CPU and expansion slots), and the other...
EXCELLENT chip. I decided to try my ASRock motherboard's 4.2 ghz preset overclock out, and it set the cores to 4.2 and the cache to 3.9, with the voltage at 1.2 and 1.15 respectively, but fixed (override mode). I went back and enabled adaptive voltage, and it passed AIDA64 for 30 minutes with...
Heh, the enthusiast in me won in the end. I cancelled the 4771 and went with a same-priced 4770k from a seller on ebay. I just didn't feel right paying 300 dollars for a locked chip. Realistically, Vt-d and TSX probably won't matter to me, and if I can squeeze 4.2 out of it at stock voltages...
I ended up going with the 4771. It's the K clocks at default, and I just don't see much gain with overclocking this chip..,
I've got TSX and VT=-D going forward,.., if that matters
I've got a Hyper 212+ with dual coolermaster fans that I'll be re-using on this chip (it's done a bang-up job with my Q6600). I've got an NZXT gamma case, but I got a mod that puts a 120mm intake in the top 3 5.25" slots blowing directly at the CPU fan, plus the regular 120mm intake at the...
I'm going to upgrade my motherboard, cpu, and ram for Christmas. I've already got the motherboard (ASRock Z87 Extreme 4) and ram (G Skill Ares 1866 cas 9 8 GB kit). When Christmas comes, and I have some gift money, I will be ordering a Haswell I7.
Right now, the 4770k is 319.99 and the...
Going higher than 1050 no matter what utility I use seems to result in a lockup. Going higher than 1375 on ram seems to result in lower performance. I guess this is my ideal overclock. 1050/1375 is pretty damn decent though.
Just wanted to see what kind of overclocks people are getting with this GPU. I just purchased a HIS 7850 2GB card from another forums user. The ASIC quality is 85% and it has normal wimpy cooler. I haven't used a third party utility yet, but just using the AMD overdrive built into the driver...
I'll sell you an HD 5850 for 130 shipped. It will be better than your 550Ti was. Only caveat, I can't get rid of it until my 7850 shows up, which should be Wednesday.
This is going to sound silly, but my Q6600 on my P35 board has hit a limit. I know this chip can OC higher, but the board just will not handle more than 1333 bus reliably. I have 1066 ram.
I just got Metro 2033 for free, and while I can play it on my 5850 (oc'd to 5870 clocks), it needs...
Sandisk just released their firmware update that should fix the TRIM issue with their sandforce based SSD's
http://www.tweaktown.com/news/26280/sandisk_fixes_trim_on_extreme_ssd_with_firmware_r211/index.html
I just installed the new firmware. This drive (when it works with TRIM) is still...
looks like a short-travel rubber dome, not a scissor switch. After using the logitech, I'm not sold on scissor switches anyway. I'd much rather have a mechanical, but this looks pretty durable the way the keys are designed.
So I had a logitech illuminated keyboard, but my cat ruined it for me... jumped up on the desk and I spilled beer on it (yes, beer in a glass...).
I am now using a simple incredibly cheap logitech keyboard from wal-mart (11.88 price ftw). I would like to go back to a decent illuminated...

Less than a month and it's fixed, this might still be a drive worth buying/keeping guys.
Well, I can't say that it's been an issue yet. TRIM might not be working right, I don't know. I just now ran these benchmarks:
Those aren't stellar performance marks, but keep in mind, my motherboard is a P35-DSL3 from early 2008, and is running a C2Quad 6600, so of course, SATA II. I...
It's working as an SSD I'm sure. My windows "experience" index went from 5.9 to 7.8. I'm just worried about the firmware issue and future degradation of performance. The newest Sandisk firmware (R201) which I installed, claims to fix things like that. I'm just annoyed, mostly. I was all set...
So in other words, unless I'm going to run a shitload of benchmarks like these guys do, and then wipe it and try again, it won't matter?
I'm thinking that the newest firmware might actually be the fix for the TRIM thing anyway. It claims it is, and tweaktown themselves posted it.

and

Give me a little more hope that this firmware is actually the fix.
I just bought a Sandisk Extreme 120GB for my aging (but still damn good enough thank you very much) Core2 quad rig.
I Installed windows, made sure TRIM was working, made sure it wasn't in the defrag schedule... performance is great, and everything was nice. But then I saw a link to this...
Good point I haven't got it yet... I'm just experiencing buyer's remorse I think.
I'm on a paycheck to paycheck kind of life, it's strictly budgeted, but I had an extra 100 dollars and I guess that's why I'm feeling dumb. I will report back when I get this thing!
