Well the newly installed EVGA SuperNOVA NEX1500 Classified Power Supply finishes this mod off perfectly and ive got to say, i think this is as close to perfection i will ever get.
Yes there were a couple of issues with the original BIOS on the SR-X board which were quickly ironed out but...
Although the EVGA SR-X board supports overclocking, unfortunately Intel E5's are locked so no overclocking with these particular CPU's.
The XSPC Raystorm CPU blocks can use any 3mm colour LED but the EVGA Hydro Copper Blocks came with red LEDs as standard which was amazing as i thought they...
Cheers Guys, not even tried clocking yet but the Raystorms are doing a stella job at cooling ;)
Well not exactly how id envisioned things happening but a few initial teething problems with the BIOS and a bank holiday to contend with meant the chassis painting was delayed and with Computex...
I couldn't get the case painted before the bank holiday and neither could i wait to get this up and running but luckily most of the parts that will be getting painted can be removed without too much disruption to the system.
Started to hose route the build last night but had a change of heart...
My apologies to all hoping to see a bit of a mod update but ive had a few teething problems with the SR-X board nothing major but as there is very little info out there at this point it was a little trial and error which is very quite time consuming but got their in the end and just want to...
I've got to totally strip the case and get it ready for the painter on Monday but couldn't resist seeing what the bezel and res looked like in place.
I've also made some Aurora Red dye to match the logo which looks pretty cool and can be seen better in the Youtube video at the bottom...
Cheers for the feedback:cool:
Just quickly had to mount 4 red LEDS to the reverse side to see if the red plexi was going to glow OK and all looks well considering these were taken in day light so should look much better at events where it always tends to be darker.
LOL the laser bit was meant to be a joke i had an awesome metal work teacher when i was a kid and to this day use an identical cheap £10 Fretsaw with 42 TPI blades which admittedly can be pretty hard to master but once you get the hang of it you can do some neat stuff.
It petrifies me when...
Still waiting on a few parts to arrive so decided to crack out the laser guided fret saw and make a new bezel for the reservoir complete with the EVGA X logo that will be back lit so the red edges glow.
Started by sticking some red 3mm plexi to an offcut of 1.5mm aluminium then applying the X...
Well with the new EVGA SR-X hitting the retailers, its time for a new build to coincide with the release.
My aim is to show off the ridiculously high spec of the new 2011 platform together with a couple of EVGA GTX680 Hydro Copper cards.
Due to the massive HPTX form factor, i've decided to...
Well im back from CES slightly worse for wear but still in one piece......just :(
Kingston announced their new HyperX Limited Edition Red DDR3 memory which they had shipped over early especially for this mod so a massive thanks to them and i guess its safe to show a few side view pictures...
Well the clock ticked and its January 3rd which means only one thing..........the release of Cosmos II
I know everyone just wants to see pictures of the Cosmos II but if i could just add a few words - I was lucky enough to get one of the first here in the UK from Coolermaster to have a play...

Coolermaster 2011 Case Mod Competition
WOW, 1st place in the Tower Mod Category is absolutely fantastic news considering the standard of entry this...
Yeah no CNC here, after all this is modding right :D - i used a fret saw for the front bezels and all 12 fan grill cut outs on the side panels but had to use a jig-saw for the top panel as it was 7mm thick aluminium and even the jig-saw struggled through that so no chance with a fret saw.
I...
Amazing, a BIG thanks for all the feedback and a Big thanks to everyone who has taken the time out to vote in the Coolermaster Comp already and obviously not wanting to bother/annoy anyone but feel free to vote if you think this one is worthy...
Thanks to all for the feedback and sorry for the bump but just had to get this sorted :)
Just putting the finishing touches to the new bezel to hold the red Lamptron FC6 fan controllers and will have finished pictures up by the deadline for the Coolermaster Comp on the 15th ;)...
WOW, unbelievable feedback, thanks to everyone who took the time to post as it really makes the effort worth while
I got my hands on three Lamptron FC6 Fan Controllers with a red LED display which should look much more in keeping to the rest of the mod rather than the blue/green.
I...
Cheers guys....AWESOME feedback
Some fantastic pictures on the Coolermaster booth taken by Shoggy from Aqua-Computer while out at CeBIT in German.
I managed to get some final pictures before it went into the box so this is the last you'll see of it, i promise.......even i'm getting bored hahahaha
Again, thanks for all the views and comments :)
Just busy loading W7 and all looking good so far :)
Still got a bit of cable managment to do and get the vents and window installed into the side panels then make sure its nice and clean but i've got the weekend to do that.
Quick picture of work in progress.
Heeheeeeee, love it:D
I'm guessing Bitspower has a secret!
With a bit of luck i should get the cards all plumbed in and get the system fired up tomorrow but for now just some random pictures :)
:D
I got to give my friends at EVGA a massive shout for getting me some graphics cards out at such short notice
They are the EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper FTW which fill up the SR-2 board real nice.
I'm just not sure if the Coolermaster 1200 PSU will be able to handle all four...
:D
Got the top hand made bezel fitted to the top chassis with the power / reset and LEDs all mounted and grill installed.
Best part of the day though was hose routing both the motherboard / RAM loop and the CPU loop - both turned out really well considering the amount of hose involved so...
Still a canny way to go but i just thought id show you this nice neat little hose routing from top to bottom of the chassis which turned out pretty good and a few other random shots of where things are at the end of the day
Got all the chassis back from powder coaters at lunch time...
Cheers all
Well i just turned the standard 6 drive bays into 4 to allow the two radiators to mount below in a separate little rad box.
Sounds easy..........well it was really but i had to be double sure of all measurements while cutting down the original drive cage and also while...
@ Jesse B - i've been importing them from Taiwan for a year or so now.
Ive previously used 5.6" (4:3) touch screens like the ones below which fit into a three 5.25 bezel in a few mods now and thought id give the smaller 4.3" (16:9) wide screen which fit into two 5.25 bays a go.
Got the side panels cut down to size for the rad box and then went about fitting four flush mount vents using the mesh out of Bitspower rad grills and used the actual grill as the template to hand cut the four openings pretty much as i did a while back on a Corsair 800D mod which gives that...
Well after humming and harring about which pump/reservoirs i was going to use, the final decision came down to what would actually fit.
Due to the placement of the bottom two 240 radiators i'm going to lose at least one drive bay, probably two and given i'm going to be running three loops it...
Thanks for all the feedback guys
Well, time to make a whole new top cover for the rad box as i wont be needing the power/reset button and just wanted something that looked a bit different as ive never really been to keen on the look of the standard 840 fan grills.
Got one large...
Thanks for the kind feedback :)
I got to give a BIG shout out to Crucial UK who came good with a couple of 6GB kits of RAM. It wasn't my first choice kit but given the current economy, i'm more than grateful for them getting involved in the first place so thanks Crucial.
Still not sure on...
It fits \o/
The new motherboard tray is 365 x 395mm as appose to the original at 335 x 350mm so for the tray to still remains functional and still removable i had to adjust the rails in the case slightly.
Was a pretty easy fix by simply adjusting the height of the top rail with a bit of...
Decided to make a replica motherboard tray out of yellow plexi so i could align all the stand-offs to the motherboard rather than straight into the metal tray itself so if any adjustments needed making i could do it in the plexi rather than the tray itself.
Dropped in a couple of old graphics...
Got the extended motherboard tray all made up and added the rails for it to slide in and out but took photos with wrong WB and they came out crap so i'll have to take more pictures once it stops raining.
Also the front bezel SR-2 logo which i did have the correct setting on the camera and...
