The OS and the image isn't the issue. My setup consist of a computer (either laptop or small desktop) and an ipod/iphone. I'm referring to hardware issue.
my setup has no lag at all. however, it takes a while to set it all up and if something happened, I would prefer to just replace one device. besides, I prefer to have a remote vs using ipod/iphone
I'm looking through your links, but been also researching Blu Ray players that would do that. I'll let you know what I find.
I'm like you, i'm using a very small pc using Moovida which I control with my ipod (remotely using wifi and VNC) and it works fine. but I would prefer to use a streaming...
I see a lot of media streaming device for sale but most of them only stream via Hulu, Pandora, Netflix, etc. Is there any device that can stream directly from a network share that anyone know about?
It's been awhile since I built a system (or even had one built which was close to 8 years ago) and at the time, I went with the most RAM possible and didn't have to upgrade until now. I just want the maximum RAM as possible with a gaming board and from the responses, it appears my best scenario...
There was a board I saw that was military class and the boards heat sink was designed like bullets. The RAM capacity on it was128GB. Was at frys. Going to double check this wel end
yeah, I didn't want a server board. And yes I am dead serious in reference to the RAM.
Aside from gaming, I need to use the workstation to run a couple of servers in VM and I don't want performance to lag on the servers if I am gaming so I don't necessarily need a server processor. I am more...
Time to upgrade in a couple of months but trying to get all my specs together so I'll know how much I'll spend. Would like a gaming system that will be used for other stuff as well and it needs to run 64 bit OS with a ton of RAM (512 GB if possible; yes that's GB) + bluetooth. Would also like to...
Time to upgrade in a couple of months. Would like an ultimate gaming system with as much RAM as possible (512 GB if possible) + bluetooth. Any suggestions?
Firewall?
Maybe try to use the Open network setting first to verify it even works the way you want it to or even how it is designed before assigning a security key.
As long as the DHCP servers are leasing different IP addresses, I don't see that as the problem.
Sounds like you have two gateway devices and causing a conflict
depending on the size, isolating your network can be a supreme ideal. for instance, if you know there's a virus on one part of your network, you can shut it off from your entire network until resolved. file security is also something that can benefit from a separate VLAN.
Why is this the typical response from people with no insight. Sometimes you can skip a thread without responding if there is nothing useful to say. Not only that, how would you feel if this was the response to every question you ever asked?
I'm sorry, but why wouldn't you reinstall the OS? OS installations isn't what they use to be. Aside from that, I always would want a baseline image if I'm swapping out major components, including upgrading BIOS and some softwares.
So you turn your RAID on and off? Seems to me like this will decrease the life of the drives and/or Array controller.
What I would like to see is what do your system or Array logs indicate right before the RAID initialize and immediately after. This may give you some indication of where to...
my question to you is why is the RAID in sleep mode? IF you don't want this, check the SCSI BIOS and change it.
My second question, why is your OS on the RAID? If it is a SCSI driven RAID and your OS is on it, it only makes sense that it stalls until the RAID is functioning.
GUYS!!!!
This thread is going waaaaay LEFT. And neither one of these comments (aside from the Comodo link) is satisfying the original question.
just need a third party firewall, THAT'S IT
It may be illogical, but I feel more comfortable using a third party. That's all opinionated.
Talk about illogical?? What is the logic in this
I mean, I like Windows as an OS only because it is a platform for pretty much every app on the planet. I can't get into using a firewall that is embedded into my OS. Something suspicious about that to me. I always get the feeling that if MS want to see what I am doing, the firewall would not...
Just upgraded from 9.1 to 10.04 and my desktop is flickering. I have access to telnet and ssh and tried editing the grub.cfg to no avail.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Ghost server edition is awesome and I don't have any issues with it. Not sure if it works in windows 2007 server as I had not tried it on that platform
They are a start up and customers are critical to being a successful company or one that closes the door at the end of the year. My advice would be to bend over backwards as much as you can because the one or two referrals you get will make a huge difference as the referral customers usually do...
Seems like you will be doing a lot of stuff CIOs don't do.
Best advice I can give you is to make sure you have remote access to "EVERTHING". If you can get Wake On LAN access or iLO access, your job will be that much easier.
I saw the smoothwall configuration on their website, but did not see anything for wireless. If I try the Untangle option, this unit may blow up if I add 1 GB of RAM to it. I did manage to find some Ubuntu configurations on the web, so I think I will try that first. Will post them here if all...
About to venture unto a new project which I have seen and heard of, but can't find threads here that can help.
Basically want to turn an old HP workstation into a wireless router. It has a NIC and a Wireless card and I want to hard code the NIC to receive broadband from ISP router and...
