Apparently this is also a known issue with Windows 10 and anyone running a G3258. Tons of threads online about this.
Whereas with W7 you can simply uninstall the update, the code is apparently built in to W10 and many are reporting they can't even install the OS.
The only solution I am...
Yes, you were exactly right!
Disabled 1 core and it booted up. Found KB3064209, uninstalled it, restart, activated both cores, and now boots up fine.
Many thanks.
Yeah, I just did the same thing, except the upgrade to 10.
I've been holding off as I'm reluctant to give up 7. However, I do have multiple legit copies of 7, so maybe I will sacrifice one for the free upgrade to 10.
Briefly says "starting Windows", but then the screen flashes and displays "Windows failed to start".
If I select "start normally" the cycle just repeats and repeats and I never get to the log-in page.
Startup repair fails every time and can't fix the problem.
If I go into advanced...
I have tried to run 2 copies of windows 7 on separate HDDs, but now I can only boot from the newer, recently added HDD.
The original HDD is still assigned boot priority on startup, but now the USB keyboard and mouse both die on the Windows welcome screen. Legacy USB is enabled in bios.
If...
I have this old LG Optimus V, using the 3G Virgin Mobile network. Android version 2.2.2.
Is there no way to use this phone as a wifi hotspot?
I have looked at numerous youtube videos showing people downloading apps to do this, but I can never get any of them to work.
Any information, or...
I guess this was inevitable. I believe something like 50% of casual web users are now using touchscreen/mobile devices now.
Microsoft is now basing their operating systems primarily for touchscreen devices, with desktops an afterthought.
More and more websites are redesigning their layout...
About a month into my new build I got a BSOD while playing BF3.
It has not happened since in the past 2 days.
Should I worry about this, or just monitor the situation?
Specs:
MSI H81 mobo
Pentium Haswell OCed to 4.1ghz (have backed down to 3.9)
8GB 1333 RAM
WD 500GB HDD

I have standard internet package from Time Warner cable.
Lately I have been experiencing these symptoms:
1) Frequent but usually short periods of complete loss of connection.
2) Frequent but short periods of abysmal speed and/or webpages loading incompletely.
I have tried resetting the...
I get a 7.7 for "3D business and gaming graphics performance" running a little R7 260x.
Seems high for such a modest card, but then again I have no idea how windows measures the performance or what the criteria is.
Dumb question, but I'm just curious if when I play Battlefield multiplayer online (using PC) is everyone else also on PC or am I playing with/against console users too?
Sorry for my ignorance. Like I said I've just goofed around a bit with BF3 multiplayer.
Looks like it could take awhile to transition from CoD, but seems like a really great game.
And yes I am playing alone just using quick match.
I take it you can't just run around spraying bullets in the multiplayer?
Game is very hard. Lots of waiting around and playing some role instead of just running around and spraying bullets.
I guess I'm a simple-minded CoD player :(.
Graphics are really impressive though.
I recently built a budget system using a Pentium Haswell G3258 @ 3.2GHz stock speed, and an MSI H81 mobo.
I found out the CPU is unlocked, so to overclock all I apparently had to do was enter my BIOS and use a utility to increase the CPU ratio.
I set it at 40 (40 x 100MGz) and it now...
Been PC gaming for years, but always just played the single-player campaigns.
For the hell of it I tried a "quick match" (don't even know what that is) on BF3 online and was just thrown in a level with no explanation of the objectives and people I thought were friendly immediately shot me...
With regard to CPU's that use integrated graphics, when a video card is installed, is extra processing power "freed up" for other tasks, or does a portion of the chip just become dead/disabled and the processing power cannot be used elsewhere?
This game is a joke it's been "downloading" for 2 hours now and it hasn't moved from 17%.
What the hell is going on with this? I have fresh system built, all updates installed, won't list my hardware but it's more than capable of playing the game.
Any information appreciated.
Can anyone confirm this?
My new system runs good but I never hear any beep on startup. Even installed a case speaker on what I believe to be the appropriate pins.
Read something about the new boards not beeping. I have the budget H81 board.
Situation:
System became badly infected (neglect on my part) so I did a reformat. I'm not a computer expert, but I always assumed reinstalling the OS more/less wiped the system clean. Then I noticed it saved all my old data (music, pictures, program files) in the windows.old folder.
So...
Apparently this wrong as you're supposed to verify the plastic tabs are fully spread and secured on the backside of the mobo.
I forgot about this, and installed the heatsink with the mobo in the case. It seems really secure, and 4 white pins are flush with the topside of the mobo. I could...
I just built a new system using an MSI motherboard and a Corsair PSU.
The main power connector for the motherboard has a retaining tab on it, but the connector won't push in far enough to catch the tab. The system works fine, so I know the pins are making contact, but I don't like the fact...
I ordered $500 of computer parts from Newegg. According to the UPS tracking #, is says the package was delivered today at 1:30pm. I get home from work today at 5:00 and there's no package.
This isn't the greatest neighborhood, and I'm very worried someone might have ripped it off while I was...
I recently reformatted and used an install disk I downloaded from Microsoft since no disk came with this PC.
I am getting a warning the product key is wrong, and that I need to purchase a new one.
What happens if I ignore these warnings?
I just got this game for PC. I noticed in the single player campaign that there's very little variety in the weapons you come across. The entire London mission you had about 3 different weapons available.
Every other MW I've player you can use a dozen different weapons in each mission...
Yeah I tried one RAM stick at a time and it still did it.
Will try reformatting next. If that doesn't work, oh well, I'll buy another refurbished laptop for work.
I have an old Thinkpad X200, it will power up to desktop but as soon as you click on any icon or try to open anything it completes dies, black screen, and will not power back on without first removing the battery.
I believe this is a hardware issue as the laptop has a rough life in a dusty...
The sound is absolutely terrible. Gunshots sound like pins dropping.
There's no apparent lag due to system performance; it's just that the whole game feels "slow".
Strange.
My understanding is this game came after COD 4 (great game), so why does the gameplay appear so terrible?
I mean you're gonna laugh but I play even newer games on my single-core Celeron and 4GB RAM with no issues at all. However, COD WAW the game is unplayable because it's so slow.
Any...
Did anyone think MW was actually a better game than MW2?
The maps are definitely better, and the sound effects are superior. The graphics even seem better at equal resolutions.
Am I the only one having more and more problems with IE 11?
On certain message boards and comment streams, I either can't use paragraphs, or it spaces the paragraphs way too far apart like I've hit enter 12 times between them.
Other times, I can't even post and cursor is nowhere to be...
Guys I kind of lied because the truth is this will be a new system. However, the old PC will be taken out of service, so I don't see how I'm pirating anything. The OS will only be installed on a single PC.
