I've been trying to sift through this thread, but having trouble finding my answer so apologies ahead of time. How much of an improvement is V1.1 in terms of noise? How does it compare to a stock ST45SF?
Any word if the SX500 will be able to cool itself down so the fan will turn off? Not that the SX600 is super loud, but it's a little disappointing that the semi-passive feature will only work right after booting up.
A lot of people don't care about perf/watt and noise. AMD has shown they can compete in high end performance (with poor reference coolers) and especially in perf/$ so there will always be a market for Radeons.
However if Nvidia can scale performance with Maxwell, then this could be an Intel-AMD...
I'm running a 670 reference right now and I've been looking at an open air cooler for a while. I was curious on how the temps are. I don't want to put any fans below the video, but if you're getting only 2-3 degrees difference, then maybe that's doable.
Big thanks, I think I'll wait and see...
It's been well documented that blower/reference style coolers work best, but what has been your experience using the axial fan cooler? What exactly are the downsides and is there a way to improve airflow?
I was looking at the 970 Strix too, but it might be a tad bit too wide for the case...
The new MSI 970 Gaming uses a new Twin Frozr V cooler that has its fans turn off at temps below 50C. The Strix has that threshold at below 65C which seems like a much better feature.. but the MSI card seems...
I for one, appreciate any response from you. Please continue to give us updates on SilverStone products, you're one of the few guys that will post on forums. I think I speak for the majority that we want to hear updates from you!
I've had a ST45F (bronze) and ST45SF-G v2.0 (gold), and both had some buzzing turned off and while on, though with the PSU fan drowning out the buzz and being inside the case it was hard to hear unless I put my ear next to it.
Does anyone have a ST45SF-G with absolutely no buzzing at all? I...
My complaint with the 450W v2 is that it buzzes. 450W already more than enough for my system, but I'm considering the 600W for it's semi-passive ability (even more overkill), but I'm expecting the buzzing to still be there...
The advantages of the reference cooler in the M1 are well documented, but I can't help but be intrigued with the new Strix semi-passive GPU's. With the SX600-G and a Strix, there could potentially be a near silent system at idle. Though my guess is with dumping all the hot air inside the case...
Someone, possibly from this thread, pointed out to me that the reference cooler for the GTX 770 is actually the Titan cooler. But it's damn hard to get one. Sold out on Newegg...
Actually in my experience, the water cooling pump makes quite a bit of noise, and it's less of a woosh, more of a clacking sound. If you want to OC, then water cooling will probably end up being quieter, but if not then you may be better off with an air cooling solution for lower noise. People...
Have there been reviews on the passive ability of the NT06-pro? It does state 65W TDP fanless cooling ability, but I'm curious as well if the 80mm fan can sufficiently cool a 65W CPU.
So we're looking at ~$100 for US MSRP? Not too bad.
I want this pretty much only for the semi-passive feature. No overclocking or high-end GPU. Bad idea?
Hah thanks for the response. I've read that with a non-blower gpu, some of the hot air isn't being exhausted so I wondered if the 92mm fan would help with that.
Since we're talking about airflow, does the 92mm fan on the rear help with exhausting air in an aircooled system? I was looking through the thread, but it's hard to sift through everything.
Are you still using the Silverstone fan+grill filter? If so, what do you think? If not, how come?
Looks like an intriguing product that might be able to make up for poor static pressure
