In for the 10,000mAh packs. Thanks!
Their website mentioned $29.99 (for the Pulse) with a code, but Amazon says $38.95 shipped. Close enough for .gov work!
I know it's clocked up, slightly (1.4 vs. 1.5) but I can't tell you if there's anything beyond that.
Like I said before, I was on a 2.3 device (T-Mobile MyTouch 3G SE Fender) that was starting to get uberwonky, so I had to pull the trigger. If you can wait 2-3 months, which is almost always...
I'm loving mine. Got it the day after they dropped, and I have to say I was worried that I jumped the gun. After a week and a weekend with it, though, I have no major complaints. My only gripe with it is the learning curve, but that's my fault for waiting so long to upgrade from a 2.3 device...
Bingo. Also, some mobos will allow USB charging when sleeping, but not when powered down, so you could try that.
Alternatives include a USB wall charger or a powered USB hub, and both are relatively cheap options. just make sure you research the hub before you buy it to ensure it specs out.
You nailed it, lulu. I was literally looking at that motherboard's specs when I clicked back over here. I like that z chipset, and the combo deal with a faster processor makes it a no-brainer.
Ok, I'm done waffling. The trigger has been pulled, and I'm stoked!
Thanks, fellas, for all...
Ok, guys. After all the good advice, I'm giving myself another $150 and going with these components:
Mobo ($145): ASUS P8P67 LE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX
CPU ($190): Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core
RAM ($75)...
Thanks, E4g1e. That's exactly the kind of input I was looking for. I've been out of the game for so long, I didn't even know PCP&C had sold out. In my head, anything they produced was tits and could be trusted implicitly. I'll dig further into the current state of the PSU.
As for the AMD...
I'm on the cusp of a LONG overdue rebuild of my general use (Office, web, moderate gaming) rig. It's overdue to the point where I'll only be recycling the following:
Monitor (Sammy 245t)
Case (Antec Sonata)
Optical Drive (LiteOn DVD-RW)
Keyboard/mouse
I have a mass-storage hdd on...
Nope, no Fry's or Microcenter within 4 hours of here. Heck, these days we don't even have a CompUSA or Circuit City.
After sleeping on it, I think I'm going to throw in a DX10 card, just to get by. That way, I can more thoroughly educate myself before I pull the trigger on the...
This is why I so love the [H]. I knew you guys would get me going in the right direction.
Everyone seems to be hawking Gigabyte mobos. I got burned by them a few years back, but you're saying I can trust them?
Either way, thanks much for the guidance! I'm really looking forward to...
I went with T-Mo's MyTouch 3G Fender, and I'm loving it!
Basically, I made a list of everything I wanted my phone to do and shopped. The iPhone 3GS, the Droid, and the Fender did all I wanted/needed. After comparing prices (up-front, and monthly), I went with the Fender.
Main advantage...
Still shopping the OS, but it will definitely be 7, and definitely 64bit, because I really need to learn it before we move that way at work.
My monitor is a Sammy 254BW. Desktop runs at 1920x1200 and I'll game at whatever resolution/settings the rig can handle.
edit: Oh, and I threw in...
The most unreliable piece is usually the operator. :D
I've only ever had two pieces just die for no apparent reason:
Plextor DVD burner (PX-716a)
Gigabyte Socket A mobo (can't remember the model)
As for hard drives, I consider them to be consumables. Always assume they WILL fail and...
Yeah, it's another one of those, "critique my list" threads. Bear with me, though, as I haven't been in the game for a while. My old XP Pro rig has an Athlon 64 3000+ (2GHz), 2GB RAM, and a Radeon X800 Pro. In other words, an upgrade is LONG overdue! Aside from the XFX card, those are the...
As stated, YMMV at your friendly, neighborhood, brick-n-mortar Wally-World.
Nickel-plated hex core round-wound, 9-42's.
.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042, to be specific.
Ok, here's the catch. They're Chinese imports and branded First Act "Crunchies" extra-light. Yeah, I know...
The fact that these people want almost $400 for a used FX 5800, or that a feeling somewhere between morbid fascination and nostalgia urges me to buy it...
Scored eight pairs. Just couldn't leave them on the rack at under $6 a pop. Should have plenty of backups for when my old KSC55's finally give up the ghost. :D
Every store I hit NE of Charlotte had at least two pairs, but not all were marked down all the way. Two stores had them on...
Remember, guys. The point is not how fast this little chip will go, or what the performance is. It's about doing it for a hundred and thirty bucks!!
The "big" FX and EE CPU's will still set you back close to a grand. Think about it.
I could have sworn we had a thread going for this. I'm not going to use this coupon, so somebody please snag it (and let us know when you do). If anyone else has a code or codes, hook your [H] brothers up!

If you're running something slower or are looking for 64bit on the cheap, grab this one by the throat. I'm already running an A64 Newcastle on an ECS mobo (which replaced my LanParty that went tango-uniform on me) so I don't need it. Otherwise, I'd be all over this one.
Heck, I may just...
Got 'em, wrapped up tight and packed in bubble-wrap and peanuts. They even included CD audio cables.
First one checks out OK. I'll report back if there are any issues with two and three.
I advise patience. For me, there was nothing between initial notification and delivery. I have a feeling "Ponch" is swamped and knocking these out as fast as he can.
I'm fairly confident everyone is going to get what they paid for.
Got mine already, and I wish I'd bought more! Keep your eyes open if you go by an ebgames shop. Might find some PC hardware in the clearance bin.
Thanks again, mav.
Chipsets are fairly evenly matched, but the 9600 Pro would have twice (or more, depending on clocks) the memory bandwidth.
Not many 9600 Pro's out there for <$20, though. :D
I've had one of these on order for over a week now (from surpluscompters), with a few other items, and no indication that it's on the way. The same thing happened last time I ordered from them, though, and the package just showed up a few days later with no email/tracking number.
I'm really...
Ditto, and I NEVER check that account. Thanks again to the [H] for saving me more $$$!
Now on the prowl for some eBay item that I just can't live without...
