Thanks a lot to you all for the responses. I did as "nitrobass24" said. I set the controller cache policy to "write back" and I got this result:
Now, we are talking. This HighPoint-controller beats the crap out of those adaptecs.
By the way, what's the difference between "write back" and...
I don't really know what you mean by "multi-user environment" but those benchmarks linked above are done on a regular single user desktop not a server or something.
Thanks mate for your suggestion. I don't really know what a "Dual Porting" is but I will try the 128k stripe size. Although I don't think that's gonna help cause one of those Benchmarkes (above) uses different stripe sizes but there is no huge difference. My controller is HighPoint though.
Thanks mate for the respons. Do you know where I can find that damn cable? I mean, all I find on the internet is these external weird cables? Is there anyone who knows about these internal mini-SAS to SAS cables? And yes, I have the latest firmware on my controller.
Well, NO! Look at the Bechs wih 2x Cheetah. I ment those benchs not those with 4x. And NO, there is no way that VelociRaptor is faster than these 15K drives. Read a little bit about them, their read speed is 170 mb/s and they are the most expensive and fastest drives in the marked. My read speed...
Here are the results: (you should be able to see them now)
I think I'm missing something about these cables. Because, there are almost no other internal mini-SAS to 4x SAS cables around than the one Adaptec is producing. What do people use when they don't have that many hard drives so they are...
Thanks for the reply mate. But have you seen the results on 2x 300 VelociRaptor in RAID0 wirh a Areca 1222(which is a similiar controller):

I mean, those bit the crap out of my 2x SAS Cheetah 15K.6 in RAID0. What is up...
Hi friends
Recently, I have tried to figure out what the hell is wrong with my settup. I run a HighPoint 4320 SAS with 2x Cheetah 15K.6 set up in RAID0 (Stripe size 32K, no Cache Policy, hard drive's cache is on) on both XP 32bit and Vista 64bit (tried both of them one after another). But the...
