I have an old Compaq 2.5Ghz computer which works fine, and I plugged a PCI radeon graphics card into it, and it won't post. The PCI slots otherwise work fine. The power just blinks and dies. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?
I just bought a Dell Vostro 1000 and want to replace the screen with a WUXGA panel (like this one from eBay).
My question is, should this process be close enough to this guide for the Vostro 1500 to figure out on my own? I've put together computers but otherwise have limited experience. Also...
I have the budget to choose the Core Duo 2.16ghz proc over the 2.0ghz one. Is there a recognizable difference between the two processors? The difference in cost is about $175. I will be using the notebook for about 4 years. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the response. Could it be that port 6881 is closed? When I test ports 6881-6889 in Azureus I get "NAT Errors."
I need to watch 24 eps 1 and 2 before 8:00!
What kind of performance can I expect out of an Athlon XP 2700+, 512MB ram, and a 6600GT AGP? Could I play, for instance, Tribes Vengeance or HL2 at 16x12/highest/noAA/noAF?
Probably not, but you could do equally little with either of them. Upgrade that Celeron to a Pentium 4 2.4B (northwood, 512kb l2) and it's wicked faster at $500.
You can have a pretty, petite PC for less. In my search for such a computer, I came across the Shuttle Zen at $260. Add 512MB ram ($60), a Celeron 1.8 ($60), and a CDRW/DVD drive ($50), and you have something with more power at $430, $70 less than the standard Mac mini.
Shuttle Zen...
I'm searching desperately for the mountainous background seen here, introuduced on the new displays- http://images.apple.com/displays/images/indexcompdisplay06282004-02.jpg
That's like the most killerest thing ever.
Sorry, I meant the mountain wallpaper that mac puts on their ACD page, seen here http://images.apple.com/displays/images/indexcompdisplay06282004.jpg
You have to get lucky with the P95f+. I ordered one off newegg, and the text was very, very fuzzy - terrible. It also had a slightly noticeable defect on the left side, which I have heard comes with many Viewsonic CRT's - There is a .5" grey bar running vertically along the side. I sent that...
I have this case: Antec SX-635BII

I'd like to replace the 80mm fan in the back with a 92mm fan. How should I cut a grill in the case for ideal airflow, sound, etc?
Be a friend and get him the Athlon XP-M 2500+ Barton (has 512kb L2 cache and unlocked multi) and NF7-S. Best value system out there, and you can have a little fun seeing what you can OC out of it.
