Did anyone try a 4090 preorder with B&H?

Just wondering if anyone got any updates other than a pre-charge on the credit card? I guess we'll see when they come back from holiday.

I think I've told this story before around here, but B&H charged me for a Logitech webcam way back during the beginning of the pandemic when webcams were becoming scarce. Said it was in-stock in X days, etc. Weeks go by, never ships, estimated date gets pushed out. Repeat this numerous other times over the course of several months. In the end I had to cancel the order because it became clear they were never going to ship.

B&H is always the last to receive anything. They probably don't even have it.

You aren't kidding. I tried to get a Core i9 10980XE from them back in the day and they never got any in stock. They removed the item from their site for a time. They only got stock of them towards the end of the chip's time on the market.

I did order a 5950x on release and they did get it to me. I forget but I think it was a preorder they did the night before and I did not see it until the next morning so there were a number of folks before me.
I'll see how it goes. I don't need a 4090 for anything but it's something to do and take my mind off the realities of life.

Hit and miss I guess. Maybe I'll have the same luck as I did with the 5950x.

So during GPUpocalypse, I got not one, not two, but three 3070s from B&H. No clue how I managed that. I'd get an email that said I was selected because I'm a loyal customer. B&H can give you successes.

If it is in stock, you can buy it. Unless it is on a Jewish holiday, which there are plenty of apparently, and then they disable online checkout. A few years back during Black Friday they started their sale but a Jewish holiday started at the same time. As soon as the holiday ended, the sale ended after being unable to checkout for what seemed to be the entire duration of the sale. Seems like the holiday season when they run all of the sales is when they don't let you checkout.

When they do have something in stock, they are quick and customer service has been good for me. But I personally won't wait for a sale price. Go to Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy, or whatever else is still around these days if you actually want to be able to purchase and receive your item.

So where do you go then to get the RTX 4090? New egg does have them in stock. I don't drive anymore so no BB. And no Microcenter. Amazon has nothing.

I got an email from B&H and they say that a large shipment will happen by... Jan 2nd! :(
Oh well, do not need one anyway. Just something fun to install before the holidays and get a fun game to play while on vacation. The 3080 still works for that.

Jan 2nd, lol. Pathetic.

No, just on backorder. I did the same with the 5090x and they also gave a longer lead time but not over 2 months. I did not get the preorder in the moment it was up though so others may do better.

ah, ok. was going to say. they take your money and tell you to wait two months...

Unless it's a camera item, don't pre-order. Great company but no so great with any kind of computer related pre-order.
