I need to get a multi m.2 PCI-E add-in card. It can just be multiple m.2 slots or something more advanced and offer hardware RAID and other features. It just depends on what is offered for the price.

Does anyone own any of these or have experience/knowledge on them and recommendations?

Thanks

I read that your motherboard needs to have PCIe Bifurcation with cards with more than 1 M.2 slot, otherwise only 1 of the ssd's will be seen.

This is an Asus 4x card

whats bifurcation? I have a GigaByte z390 Aorus Pro-CF so its a highend board but never heard of bifurcation before (or forgot what it is lol)

It's quite affordable, I remember some of the 4x things a year or so ago were like 100s so $50 ain't back. No hardware RAID but not a big deal

It's the process of splitting the slot up into individual sets of lanes, a 16x slot can be converted to 4x 4x 4x 4x, basically four 4x slots

You didn't mention needing Raid, the use case, or your MB so I don't know if this will work, but JBOD with these is cheap and easy if you have a few x4 slots. Hell, the PCIE x1 will do Gen 3 speed... (but I wanted the drive to look good 'cause I have an open case).

It depends on why you want the drives. Sometimes you want more drives for more storage bandwidth; in that case, if it's all behind one chipset link, more drives doesn't help if one drive can saturate the link. But if you just want more storage, or to use the drives you already have, it can be worthwhile.
