The Samsung QLED q90a will be released in a 43" model.

Yikes, $1,300 for a 60 Hz display. Samsung could have sold so many more if they made it 120 Hz. What the heck are they thinking.
Well said, considering I bought the 50" on special for $1150 to my door the 43" is a huge terrible waste of money for any reason.

You always pay a price for miniaturization.

Oh wait, you say they didn't have to develop something custom, densely packed, and smaller than normal?

Well, I guess it is just to get extra money from those of us for whom 48+ inches is to big.

They probably did the math and decided they would not have sold enough more. We're all a pretty niche market in the first place.

How's it going with the 50" this time round? Did you try the settings that gave you visual glitches last time?

Well the reason I mentioned that was because the 43" doesn't support hdmi 2.1. It is most definitely not worth the asking price. The 50 on the other hand is sweet lol.

Yes no problems this time around. I updated it to the latest firmware & smooth sailing. Games like a champion. I even drop the resolution to 2560x1080 for 21.9 or 3840x1080 for 32.9 either for fun or for more GPU power if I need to because running some games at 4k is impossible even with a 3080Ti.

Might be that the 43" WITH the ADS/IPS panel = RGB (and not BGR). If true, will be GREAT for the PC/Windows etc.

BGR is NOT a problem for text. ClearType supports it fine. There are some BGR monitors with bad text quality, but this is not caused by the BGR pixel structure.

Thank you. People that claim BGR is the end of the world for text and call a screen DOA because of it annoy me. ClearType on Windows can be set to it and here on Linux/KDE the BGR subpixel rendering mode is perfect - as good as any RGB monitor I've had with the RGB mode.

The ONLY time I see the rainbow fringing on text is if someone posts a screenshot of text from their RGB panel with subpixel rendering on.

BGR has zero effect on anything else - only text tuned for RGB subpixel rendering looks "wrong" and the fix is easy.

I do think it's weird that panels get flipped. They should all be the same for the sake of simplicity but that's not what happens. I feel BGR is only this massive issue because everyone thinks it is, therefore everyone avoids it.

thanks. I've seen that Google Chrome does not respect ClerType in Windows...

Can't comment on that unfortunately, the only time I use Windows is in a VM that is lopped off the internet.

But I can say the subpixel rendering in both Firefox and Chrome on Linux is identical for me and is obeying the BGR setting just fine.

22yr model is out in Korea and it comes with 120hz/vrr/hdmi 2.1 this time around.

In what size though? I think it was talked about earlier in this post that the 43" model would be stuck at 60hz, where the rest of the line was getting 120hz

Just updated the 50" QN90A to the latest 1904 firmware through the OSD. Works good. Anyone know what the patch notes are on it?

Bringing this thread back up top because I just broke my POS Samsung 4000 series tv we had in the living room, and I just installed my 50" QN90A in the living room so I no longer have it in my PC room which brings me to the QN90B.

I just discovered that the 43" version of the QN90B is in fact a 144hz panel. I watched a video on YouTube where the guy clearly shows it on PC at 144hz with HDR & VRR on all together and it was awesome.

I am considering this 43" QN90B for my PC room because I have always wanted a 43" monitor and now that I see that it is 144hz I am really interested if I can find one for a good deal.

I'm surprised everyone hasn't jumped on this thing. It's superb at 120 at 144 it will be even better and the newer algorithm for the local dimming improvements this thing is a killer and I'm prolly going to get a 43" when I can get my hands on one at discount unless I change my mind.

I'd jump on it if I wasn't already satisfied. It sounds great, especially as the 43" version finally has decent specs but it isn't worth the money to replace the QN94A I'm using.

Somewhat tempted to get one as a TV though, my main TV is 10 years old (yes... really) and a QN90B would be a lovely way to retire it.

Pardon!? 144hz? That....can't be correct.
All of Samsung's whitepages about it was indicating the 43" was 60hz.

Depending on size you need the 2021 QN90A if still available are deeply discounted currently and the difference is not really that huge.

RTings currently has it in for review. I will probably get one if everything looks good on it as I've been dying for an upgrade to my X27 and all the 32" options out right now have deal breakers in one way or another. I don't do any work on my monitor so the BGR text quality combined with lower PPI at 43" won't be a problem for me, I just want a big bright HDR screen to compliment my OLED.

The 43QN90A from last year is 60Hz. I believe the QN90B 2022 is 120/144Hz.

I own the 43QN90B, it is 144hz. I almost bought the Gigabyte when it was on sale, but got this instead. I've had it about 3 weeks and I'm pretty happy with it. It is insanely bright and the local dimming is pretty great in my experience. I was also concerned about text with the BGR panel, but I don't really notice any oddities, I'm using 150% scaling. I paid $1200 shipped with an extended warranty. Definitely don't regret it. I cross shopped the 42 and 48 inch oleds, and at least the demos I saw were very dim compared to just about any led. Also was concerned about burn-in, but the brightness was the main factor for me. The led just looked way more vibrant. The only thing I dislike about this screen is turning it on and selecting the PC input takes too long, but it is a minor gripe.

If I didn't high kick the living rooms pos TV like The Heartbreak Kid

I would have no intention of replacing it with my awesome QN90À at all I agree.

In hindsight, I'm glad I did though because older Samsungs are miserable in comparison to the QN displays. Major massive leap in image quality.

I had to go double check myself. Found this guy in YouTube

This guy doesn't talk specs or anything. Just basically confirmed that it is 144hz.

I agree the difference is not huge and hard to tell the difference between the 2 even side by side.

I felt like you for years before I got the QN90A but once I got it my waiting was finally over and I could enjoy everything. Now that the 43 size is good, you literally cannot go wrong getting it. That goes for me, you, and everyone else also.

I usually don't agree with everything in a single post but in yours 100% agree with it all lol. Good for you dude. To say the display is fantastic is an understatement. Cheers.

Can anyone using the QN90B as a PC monitor comment on the pixel bleeding issue described in this Amazon review?

I looked around the web and found this subpixel image taken from a 43 QN90B. I don't really know about subpixels accuracy but what can be made of this sample image?

That looks exactly like the issue on the FV43U. Every single 43 inch panel I have looked at has this pixel interference issue but even I'm surprised a 2022 TV has it too.

I've got the 50" QN94A and can confirm this issue doesn't exist on this panel. If all the 43"ers still have this awful issue I'm not going anywhere near them.

Yea I agree. Shredmonster has one in this thread if he can check that would be very helpful.

I downloaded the test pattern and my screen is not showing this issue. Honestly though, even if it did, the guy zoomed in on text that is like 1/8" tall. I wouldn't notice at the 3-4' i sit from the screen and it doesn't show during web browsing. Maybe its a clear type/scaling issue? I don't use my computer for work, just web, media, and games. So far the good far outweigh the bad with this screen. I don't think there is a better option at this size, oled might be better for some things and worse for others. The dimming, VRR, and HDR performance are what sold me and so far I've been impressed. Happy to answer any questions about this panel or my pc.

Thank you for responding. Appreciate it. I'll let Senn take it from here as he knows exactly how to ask you to test the upper half of the brown fox lazy dog test test sample image. I never noticed anything on my FV43U either but I'll let some of the other more knowledgeable forum members elaborate on the sample image you provide. I do know you need to take an actual photograph of it with a decent quality camera phone not a screen shot to be able to actually see detail as this test is checking for detail accuracy of the pixels. Just to get a head start I'll kindly ask you to take a photograph of the upper portions of the screen (and lower for comparison) with 100 scaling in windows and in the browsers or program you are viewing the image on.

This would be a MASSIVE help to a lot of members who are considering this panel to buy because like you said It does have all the features a lot of enthusiasts want right now it checks all the boxes but we are just wanting to make sure the image quality is "good enough" which I totally understand that it is good enough for you as I said I didn't notice it on my other 43 but just so you know lol.

Thanks in advance if you can post any photos. Appreciate it.

What test pattern? It absolutely has to be unscaled, whatever image you have used.

This is the old image I made to test for the problem on the FV43U (had to go hunting for it heh). In theory all the grey lines and text should be the same colour. If your screen has the issue, the horizontal lines on the grid get directly affected by the white or black pixels that sit above them, causing them to look lighter on the white canvas and darker on the black one. Again, this must be viewed with no scaling, desktop or browser, with the TV at its native 4k or it will smoothen the image and ruin the test.

FV43Ubug.png

Yes, the text is tiny. No it isn't a real world example of text you'd read on such a display. This is simply to test whether the pixel interference is a thing on your panel.

Also view this image at both the top and bottom of your screen - as per the Amazon review posted above, it is entirely correct that the issue is at its worst at the top of the screen and virtually non-existent (but still there if you know what to look for) at the bottom.

Some people can happily live with this dent in image quality that can't be fixed, I never could.
