Is the RX 6900 XT at $1500 a good buy now? Or wait?

I purchased a MSI 1080TI here around the Holidays for $625. It is working well with the 2560x1440 monitor. After the Shiping Cluster F*%K...All bent up.
(a note to Sellers wrap the card in a butload of bubble wrap. not just a few peanut packings and 3 big bubbles that pop way to easiely)

If you have a microcenter nearby I wouldn't pay full price for a 6900xt right now. I've seen a fair amount of open box 6800XTs lately and you should be able to get a better price on the 6900XT as well if you're patient. Just go on Thursdays for big nvidia shipments and maybe over the weekend - monday as well to see if you can catch a yellow sticker returned card. I saw a 3080 for about $1100 the other week and 3080 TIs have been relatively easy to get as well. I mostly see returned AMD cards but not a whole lot of returns on the nvidia side. Generally on the AMD card they now always have almost the entire product line available, but the 6900XTs were always the most plentiful and 6800XTs seem to be common now as well so you probably have a good shot of finding an open box discount on those.

I haven't had any issues running older games on my 6900xt and am glad I got it. I think DLSS is still a tech demo and won't be worth it for another generation or two of games at least. I went from a 5700xt to a 6900xt. The 5700xt experience early on was pretty annoying due to driver issues but was fine by the time I got rid of it. The 6900xt was fine on release and hasn't really caused any issues. The only problem I have is sometimes when it's mining I have to reboot to get back into the radeon software to readjust my clocks because the software crashed or something.

[Edit: I play at 1440P and the nice thing about the 6900xt vs the 5700xt is I don't have to turn any settings down in basically any game unless I want to get rid of something I dislike, such as blurring or something.]

I'm happy with my reference 6900xt. I got it direct from AMD, so it was only $1000. I played GoW, Horizon Zero Dawn and Half Life Alyx, but those are new titles. I've also had no issues with older stuff or less intensive stuff. Lots of Orcs Must Die 3, Payday 2 and Valheim.

I did see that LigTasm was having issues with Armored Warfare specifically, I fired it up to try out, and turned on logging for a run through the second half of the tutorial. I trimmed out a minute at the end where it was in the menu and was capped at 60 and the CPU stats portion, But I'm not seeing what he's seeing. I did see someone else mention Crysis, so maybe it's a cryengine issue. I'd need to reinstall Crysis to be sure.

1080ti is 55% faster than a Vega 64.
Odd, I just spent 10 minutes looking at various reviews from 4 years ago and the 1080 ti looked to be between 20-40% ish faster than a vega 64 depending on the resolution and game.

I have a 3090 and a 6900xt in another pc. The biggest thing for me is DLSS, thats kind of the winner for me. I turn off raytracing in games as I cant really tell the difference.
