Pixel 4 XL No flashlight and "Camera in use" message No rear camera

I understand this is common so I have already posted a WTB thread here. My flashlight app is greyed out with "Camera in use" message. Camera won't go to rear screen with "Something is wrong" message. I tried rebooting, safe mode, everything but factory reset but I have been reading that even a factory reset may not fix it. It seems this has been going on since the Pixel 2 and Google refuses to recognize the issue. Anyone here ever have any success stories on fixing it? Damn shame just to buy a new phone to fix a known glitch. Thanks for ANY ideas.

My old 2 XL did this to my daughter after she started using it. It persisted after a factory reset too. I assumed it was a hardware issue. She researched it further herself and said she fixed it just by waving a magnet over the camera module. It was only a temporary fix though and did it again a while later. So it definitely seems hardware related.

Thanks, I have replaced the phone but kept the old one. Like a Harry Potter Wizard I tried waving a strong magnet over the phone, front and back. N.G. This is one of those faults the manufacturer will never admit and only fix or deal with if you demand it under warranty.
