I was trying to check out a new WD 16TB hard drive. For some reason it only shows 566 GB after formatting GPT NTFS. I am wondering if the problem is because I'm using a USB hard drive reader to do the format. I just wanted to check it real
quick before installing in computer in case I have to send it back.
 
It sounds like your adapter isn't LBA48 compliant. 566 is abnormal, usually if you are CHS locked it comes up as 504GB.
 
I'm going to install it in the computer over the weekend and see if that changes anything. If not will have to send it back.
