Hey guys,

I just picked up 4 sticks of Crucial BL2K8G36C16U4BL and I wanted to overclock them a bit. I was wondering if anyone knew the best stable settings for this memory with a Ryzen 3600X. I was going to use the Ryzen DRAM Calculator but I read a bunch of people saying not to use it.

Ill take a stab at deciphering the model number, 2x8 3600 c16 blacks 1.35v.
Start at stock speed, voltage and timings and see how that runs. If stable start either tightening down the timings or increasing the speed depending on your goal. Don't do both or you'll make things twice as hard on yourself. Test with memtest as you go. Increase voltage slowly when instability shows, until you regain stability. Retest. Rinse, repeat.
That's the quick n dirty.

Ryzen DRAM Calculator is fairly good starting point for Ryzen 3000 but depending on your MB it may still be unstable due to one or two settings.

When overclocking RAM just be ready to reset the BIOS if it doesn't post.

It runs fine with its DOCP profile of 16.18-18-39 3600. My mobo is the Asus Tuf x570 plus, seems fairly solid.

Is the Ryzen DRAM calculator really so bad? Seen lots of people have goo results with it but then there's a bunch of people saying you shouldn't use it. I don't really feel like learning how to figure out timings and sub timings on my own.

There's nothing wrong with the calculator. Use it, i say. It quick and easy to use. Whats not to like?

Nothing at all wrong with DRAM Calc. It gives you a great starting point for tightening up your timings if you use the safe preset. Seems like most of the naysayers just had a bad experience with it...... Like the above poster said just be ready to clear the cmos if the settings fail.

P.S. the timings achieved in my sig started out on a safe preset from DRAM Calc
