Forgive me Father, for I have sinned...

How does the step up program work? Does it have to be new cards? Can it be cards from anywhere (e.g. ebay) or must be from an official retailer, etc? And do you need original receipt? Thanks

You need the original receipt. It has to be registered within 14 days unless you extend the warranty. It needs to be registered to you.

https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

  • Register your qualifying 3 Year Warranty product purchased new from an authorized reseller within 14 daysof your original purchase date.
  • The EVGA Step-Up program is currently only available to residents of the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and EU Countries.
  • EVGA Step-Up products (e.g. the product you want to Step-Up to) are limited to one part number, per person, per household.
    • This means that if you (or someone in your household) Step-Up a registered product to an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA (10G-P5-3897-KR), you may not Step-Up a second registered product to an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA (10G-P5-3897-KR). However, if EVGA later offers a different GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card within your 90-day window, such as the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 ULTRA (10G-P5-3885-KR), you may Step-Up to that product.

Finally bought a card myself, a 6900xt on stockx as the price was only 1300 for it. Not happy I paid over list price but it looks like this whole industry is going to stay messed up for awhile and at least I wont need to upgrade for a good long while with this card. Plus I can sell my 1080 pretty easily and take a bit of the sting out of it. I would have preferred to get a 6800xt but they practically sell for the same as a 6900xt, so might as well get the bigger card.

Yeah, Gideon I feel you. It's been 3 months since I bought this card, and ebay prices are basically the same and I haven't seen it in stock anywhere for MSRP. So I think it was the right call.

that is because the 6800, 6800xt, and the 6900xt all have the same performance for mining.

Enjoy the card! it's a beast :)

I guess that makes sense why, just not in to mining so have not looked at that. Yeah can't wait to try it out when I get it, while the most expensive video card I have ever bought it will also be extremely powerful as well.

Think aboutit! really it's not a bad way to help offset the scalped cost.

the 6900xt will use ~ 140w to generate roughly 63-64MH on ETH. You can mine straight ETH pretty easily, or use nicehash to further simplify it. you would probably be making $4.18/day at current prices if you don't pay for power, and about $3.80 /day if you do. WIthin 2 months you will be near MSRP :p

Congrats. I’m still voting with my wallet also. Msrp or bust even if that means getting out of PC gaming for a few years. Ok so that’s not true, I want to game but man I can’t do the current pricing.
my 980ti is holding up quite well so far, but i'm running 1080p so... even had good performance in Cyberpunk at high preset (couple of things like dof and motion blur disabled)

no need to give it up. just don't worry about ray tracing. you need a 3080+ to run it anyway.

Couldn't take it. I bought a GPU off a scalper. The XFX Speedster MERC319 6800XT.

Cost me $1,500 but I should be able to sell my 2080 Ti for a decent price, so it won't be too bad.

No, I don't feel great about it, but I had a little extra money this month and decided to treat myself.
I did the same thing this week with a 3080ti. Do I feel good about myself? No, Not at all. Now I can upgrade my wife's 1070ti with my 2080ti and sell the 1070ti to make up a little bit of the difference.

I've read that the GPU shortage will only get worse and prices will be high for a long time yet so I bit the bullet.

At the same time, I see some stuff that doesnt make sense...

I bought a 6600xt from newegg that I will most likely return. Cost me $610 because it just doesnt seem worth it. I know of a 3060 locally on FB for $600. Given a 6600xt from newegg is $610, that doesn't seem very scalped.

AMD cards are not scapable at the prices AiBs are going for at retail. If they were good at mining they would be sold out instantly like Nvidia cards.

right. I'm just saying that 3060 I see doesn't seem bad at all in comparison.

Surprising my MC still showing a Asus 3060 TI in stock for $500 since Thursday.
what is this mythical microcenter place everyone speaks of? Is it ruled by an omnipotent wizard that creates GPUs from thin air?

How do you get there? is it like on a special colored road or something?

I bit as well.. found a new open box EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA HYDRO COPPER 12G-P5-3969-KR on ebay for less than $200 over what it's listed on EVGA's website for. Too close to pass up.

We can’t really blame anybody for resorting to eBay for hydro coppers

I also have a 2080Ti but I'm not buying a video card soon.
Refresh coming early 2022, and next gen late 2022. Might as well wait.
The leaks say 3xxx > 4xxx is bigger jump than 2xxx>3xxx.
Which is impressive. And also I trust the leaked.

Gee, early 2022 is not that far off any more.

Do the leaks include anything about pricing? Like a model about $400?

Pretty sure the refreshed cards will be more expensive than the current ones, and the cheapest one is probably going to be 3060 Super.
