Pixel 5A

Yeah, I want to see real benchmarks. "It feels slower" is an odd assertion considering the 5 and 5a are virtually identical. I can't see the 5's +2 GB RAM making any difference in any limited testing he could have done with a display unit. It's possible, maybe Google screwed the cooling and it throttles easily and often (I'm guessing we won't see a teardown until iFixIt gets theirs in a few days). But I'm betting there's a heavy dose of bias, subconscious or not, going on here.

I do wonder why Google didn't go with a newer 700-series Snapdragon. Even if the phone's BOM cost them more as a result, they could have kept the MSRP the same as the 4a 5G's $499 and come out ahead.
Its cause they probably had a stock pile of parts is my guess. I will rock this for a year and hand it off to the wife and see if we get a true 6a based on the 6 phones.

When did you order it?

Both mine shipped from IL to TX. Should be here tomorrow and Friday. Out of town all weekend. FREE GIFTS on the porch all weekend!

Curious how do I enroll this phone in the Android 12 beta? I checked the Google beta page, and it only showed my old Pixel 4 XL on the list, which is already on the beta, not my new 5a.

Probably need to wait for google to enable it for the 5a

My device was delivered today. Came from drop ship less than 2 hours from my house. Wife forgot to tell me I had a package. So far so good. Just gotta do the pita process of remembering all my logins and get my apps setup again. Haptic feedback is good. Screen looks to be solid. 5g is in my area. Was not even aware but got over 100mbit on down and 23ms latency...

Edit 1**
I like the additive charging which will trickle charge the device based on when you plug it in and when you wake-up time is. the 60hz vs 90hz is not that big of a deal but I can say I really wish it had wireless charging. Not for speed but to save the charging port. After 2 years my 7pro's is very loose except for certain cables.

It also only ships with June Security updates.

Mine is almost finished setting up. It's smaller than I expected, but feels pretty good in my hand. I'll update with thoughts/pics after using it for a while.

Physically, it's only about 1/8th of an inch larger than my HTC, though its screen is considerably taller in portrait mode.

The screen isn't as vividly bright as the HTC but that could be because I haven't had any time to tweak the color settings.

It did not give me an option to migrate my data from my old phone via hotspot/BT/WiFi...just the old run a cable from old to new...that's been pretty darned SLOW so far because I'm migrating a bunch of music and videos over.

Seems like it's almost exactly the same screen size as a Oneplus 6t, 3~ish mm taller. Following the thread with interest, as mine is getting long in the tooth and is about out of security updates.

Anyone having difficulty activating your Google Fi? I've been trying to do it with eSIM, but it ain't working. Will get the SIM out of my 3XL.

YES. IT TOOK FOREVER to activate. I had to download the eSIM on my home network before it would activate for some reason
