Rosewill HIVE 1000w Modular PSU $100 shipped

seemed good but that review is from 6 years ago tomorrow and its not the same unit. although, this time canadians can get in on that deal as they are currently $50CAN off the whole line.

only has room for three pcie connections.. which is quite bad for a 1000w PSU. makes me wonder if they can actually handle 1000w.

still thanks for posting tho

$99 Superflower full modular 850w with lots of universal connections. i think id go here over the rosewill even though it has the lower wattage. its probably the better unit. (superflower is deffinetly good, im betting rosewill is borderline)

Yeah seems like the unit is indeed different than the one jonnyguru reviewed as mentioned by pendragon1

Although I did find this Seasonic one that's 1000w for a bit more and in stock; I just picked one up since I have the exact one already in 650w and it's rock solid with a couple 3060Tis on it:

$179.99 for the Seasonic FOCUS GX 1000w modular.

Bestbuy has that Seasonic for $169.99 everyday.
That's what I've seen also, but they were out of stock and I luckily found the same unit on Amazon for the same price. Also, concerning the original post I would be skeptical of Rosewill power supplies.

I can confirm this, the original HIVE series was OEM'd by Superflower and as such was a friggen amazing PSU for the price (still using one of the originals) but this newer iteration was OEM'd by a D-Tier company and isn't very good. I would pursue other choices in the price range over this as the HIVE series is nothing like what it used to be.

The one JonnyGURU reviewed back in 2015 was a Sirfa unit.

I ran two 1K Rosewills, one for 3 years and the other for six. Took both out of service and kept them as spares, ran fine and all voltages still check out.

I just installed that Seasonic today and can't believe how stupid their VGA cable setup is. It actually splits into another 6/2 pin even though it tells you right in the manual that it's not suggested to run both off of the one cable. So that means if you need to use two 8 pins then you end up with two other 6/2 pin connectors just dangling down right below where you connected them to your graphics card. What an idiotic way of doing the cables. And good Lord when I have to run three of those for an RTX 3080 or 3090 I am going to have three extra 6/2 pin connectors just hanging down which is ludicrously stupid. 0h the more I look at it in my case the more it just pisses me off because it's so tacky looking even with just one extra 6/2 pin hanging off on my 2060 super.

Thats extremely common among manufacturers. And for something like a 2060super you can use both the connections on the same cable just fine and without concern. I wouldnt do that with something like rtx 3080, 3090s or old school GTX 580s from the Fermi days though. But dorky little 200w cards. No problem. Especially when they pull some of that 200w from the PCIE slot aswell.
If you have a 10900k or something it can pull 300w easy from the single 8pin. If the line can handle that no problem, it can handle 150w X two8pins on the PCIE also. (Both are 12v rails and same gauge wire)
Nvidia doesn't allow card to pull more than 150w per 8pin connector anyway. They very closely enforce that spec. So unless you've removed the powerlimit and load balancing from your 2060super. You've got absolutely nothing to be worried about.

The Prime GX / PX and TX series have single 6+2 pin cables (6)
The Focus series have the split connectors.
If you wanted the single connectors, you should have spent more for the Prime series, not the Focus.

Just get some extensions.. problem solved. (even though I am running a prime series for my main rig :ROFLMAO: )

Okay first off I have never seen a power supply come with cables like this before. All of my EVGA and Corsair power supplies in the past came with VGA cables that had a single 6/2 connector on the end. I mean it should be pretty obvious based on the context here that I had no idea that this was a normal thing now so why would I possibly researched what type of VGA cables a different power supply that costs $400 came with. So I really don't know if you're trying to help or just be sarcastic.

The 2060 super only has a single eight pin connector so the point with it was that I have a connector just dangling now which looks so damn tacky. And seeing how tacky that looked was really bothering me at the thought of having another one or two connectors hanging down when I get a 3080 or 3090 down the road.

Since this Rosewill PSU is apparently not the same one in the ~5 year old jonnyGURU review, does anyone know if there are any reviews for this specific unit?
