Zen 3 Launch Availability

When will it be possible to buy a Zen 3 cpu without using a bot or paying Scalper rates?

I bragged too soon, pretty sure this thing is dead. Lasted a grand total of five minutes before blue screening and never booting again. Stuck at DRAM light on two different motherboards, old 3700x boots up immediately and is rock stable as always. Sign from the universe to stick with Zen 2.
Just curious if you updated the bios for the motherboard? I assume you did since you said it booted for a few minutes before it stopped working, but always helpful to ask in case you forgot.

I installed it in a brand new ASUS TUF X570 Pro, and it booted so figured it was up to date enough. Got the BSOD right after I copied latest BIOS to a usb stick to flash. Flashed it with the Flashback feature after failing to boot a bunch of times, still no dice. I swapped back to the Prime X570 Pro I had been using (updated to latest non-beta 3001 bios) thinking my new board was dead, but same exact issue with same DRAM diag LED. Swap CPU, boots instantly. All with CMOS clears in between of course.

I am torn if I should warranty through AMD or just return it and say to hell with it.

NOOOOOO! I almost went yesterday and bought a 5800X there because I was "only" 50 minutes or so away due to another appointment. Now I'm stuck at work 2.5 hrs away from the store, and they have 25+ 5950X's showing in stock! (even though I'd prolly just go with a 5900X)

Oh hey, another person from Michigan. I haven't been to that store since last holiday season, lol.

I figure any stock they show there is already grabbed by ppl waiting in line.

Have there been 5am lines at the MI store that anybody knows about?

They showed a 5800X in stock yesterday, apparently it's still there or they got another today. They also had an MSI RTX 3080 yesterday "In Stock" that is gone today. So. Can't say for sure though. I've never actually been to the store, didn't even know it existed until this pandemic component drought started.

Yeah...once in a while I think about driving up there for the hell of it (30 minutes up 75), but I always assume it'll just be a waste of time.

Still showing the 5950s in stock. As much as I'd love to play around with one, no way in hell can I justify a nearly $900 (after taxes and whatnot) cpu lol.

Edit - Just noticed they open at 10am...man that seems late. They'll be gone :D

I just thought of going just to see if I could find a scalper to punch in the face, but realized - I had the same thought yesterday. If i went, I would have gotten that 5800X, a B550-XE from Asus, and bought that 3080 just to hock on e-bay to pay for that overpriced mainboard.

*edit*
Just read that Asus is raising prices. Gotta love them COVID bucks saturating the money supply. Here comes the inflation! $330 for a loaded B550 board will look like peanuts 6 months from now. (compared to the "new" stuff coming)

I saw my MC had 3 5950x I. Stock this morning. Still showing 1 as of 11am. Which is surprising. I would of assumed they would be gone once open with the lines there every morning. If it is still there after work I'll grab it but I doubt it will last that long.

I mean this feels almost identical to the Zen2 launch. After 3 months stock started to normalize on the high end parts and you could actually find them in stock.

Cause they have lines down the block buying shit up as they open. It keeps bots and stuff away from them. If you really want to get something you need to be standing there hours before it opens. I am really shocked that there is still one out of three still in stock after a hour 20mins at my MC

That single 5800X is still sitting there, lol. Wish there wasn't such a price difference for 2 more cores over a 5600X. Probably why it's still hanging around.

Or the count is wrong.

Wait until March with the Rocket Lake Launch. I bet this drops to $379 or $399 depending on Intel's pricing.

I got a 5950X from Best Buy. I saw an alert on Discord that Best Buy was dropping GPUs. When I logged into the website I already had the 5950X in my cart from my last attempt and it showed available to order. Immediately checked out. I only got one because the bots hadn't yet sent alerts on the 5950X being available.

It will be here Friday. Still rocking my Titan XP from 2016 but at least I can play with a new CPU :)

::Shrugs::
could be OOS for your region. I don't think anyone has fully figured out exactly how bestbuy differentiates who can get them and which stores are available for pickup even though stores a town over can't.

Big props to Best Buy for actually trying to control scalping. Every single purchase you make for these parts right now requires an email or phone based verification code to buy.

I popped by my local memory express (canada) today to pick up some ARGB fans and they allowed me to back order the 5900x - they told me I am #37 in line at that store and that if i find one somewhere else no penalty to me they'll just stock it

MC in Madison Heights still has 6 5950x showing in stock...if its accurate i may have been able to get one depending on traffic.

Mine still showing 1 5950x in stock. They going to make me drive all the way down there just to find out they don't have it.

No 5950x left in Cambridge, think they had 6 this morning.

They had them since yesterday I believe. I walked in at 1:30 PM yesterday and had my pick of 5900X and 5950X. I grabbed my dead 5900X. Should have chosen the 5950X like I really wanted.

I just checked a bunch of the other MC locations. I think we not only got the most in, we're the only store left that has them.
Yea as soon as I got off work the 1 5950x at my MC was sold. I can't believe it lasted til 3pm. Well it saved me a trip there.

You can't trust their online stock, especially when it shows 1-3. I've done that run for 1-3 only to get there early in the morning at opening and its gone cuz ppl get there at 4am and then they don't update the stock till later.
